      Thanks for your feedback; we appreciate your perspective.
      While this response is a bit longer than a traditional comment, hopefully, it can provide some insight into the design, development, and intent of the AZOTH EXTREME.
      We have a wide range of mechanical gaming keyboards, including our original AZOTH, at much lower price points. The ROG AZOTH and the EXTREME were based on extensive community feedback alongside original AZOTH owners' feedback. We specifically wanted to and did execute improvements to the overall construction and "feel" of the AZOTH EXTREME, alongside further enhancing acoustics and tone. It being a gaming product as well we also look to further improve upon many of its gaming centric features, functions and specifications.
      If you compare the EXTREME to other custom offerings, you will find its features, function, and design are very competitive and, in many respects, unmatched. The goal was to offer a hybrid keyboard that would offer a great typing experience with premium construction alongside high-end gaming performance. Both were factors in the design, influencing multiple areas of the keyboard's design.
      An example of this would be our switch selection. While there is interest and positive reception to the introduction of customizable switch actuation, it has not been heavily adopted or advocated by the majority of keyboard enthusiasts. I will note, though, that ASUS has been evaluating internally. Many have noted that the sound or and feel are not the "best" or does not meet their standard and or preference. There is also a considerable delta in selection. This is similar to optical switches that also saw introduction years back but still have not displaced traditional mechanical as the favored switch type. When looking at the performance of traditional mechanical switches, you can also find highly effective implementations that offer impressive click latency/performance. This combined with the ultra high polling offered on the AZOTH Extreme gives you top tier performance albeit you will of course not have the customizable actuation. For a hybrid keyboard where the focus was on general use/typing alongside gaming, we carefully considered the experience of both. You can also cross check the latency reports of hall effect and find it comparable to well tuned mechanical switch. Moving beyond this there are some other elements to consider when comparing against custom keyboards from smaller vendors or group buys.
      Outside of the possible and common delays, there can be little recourse regarding returns if you invest in an ultra-premium keyboard but find that, for X reason, you do not like something and wish to return it. Some manufacturers with custom offerings will not allow for returns, but you could purchase the AZOTH from us or an etailer, and if you do not like it, you can return it. This gives the customer more flexibility and confidence when buying a keyboard.
      Continuing with comparisons, we can do a bit more of a line-by-line comparison to get a sense of what you are getting for the MSRP of $499.
      You can find other custom mechanical keyboards that are only wired (some even at higher prices than the AZOTH EXTREME) with a carbon fiber plate and premium CNC finishing for $450 to $500 MSRP. Remember that multi-step CNC finishing is a costly addition alongside the Carbon Fiber plate, which generally runs 50 to 80 dollars as an upgrade for many custom keyboards.
      Diving into a comparison you will find the ROG AZOTH EXTREME offers a notable number of additions not present on those premium custom keyboards. We will certainly agree and prefer that a numerous premium custom keyboards, whether pre-built or barebone, will offer premium construction/material choice, feel, and acoustics. We would also ask that you consider many custom options. You may also have to assemble the keyboard, which takes time and effort. There can also be torque application or consistency issues throughout the assembly process. This is important because you can have a "less than" or poor experience if not correctly executed.
      Notable additions you will find with the AZOTH EXTREME -------------
      Tri-mode connectivity (USB, Bluetooth and 2.4Ghz)
      OSX support
      There are three software control modes (Armoury Crate, Peripheral only Armoury Crate Gar, and Armoury Crate for OSX). In addition, it offers hardware-level lighting control via FN+arrow keys.
      Five onboard memory profiles
      ROG OMNI support-Supports simultaneous low-latency connection to a keyboard and compatible mouse with one receiver. ROG has also maintained outstanding battery life in dual device pairing usage. Even for higher-end custom keyboards, the battery life is truly outstanding.
      ROG optimized low latency, polling rate stability, and debounce delay - Tuned for gaming and sub 1ms latency.
      The feel is adjustable via the easy-to-adjust detent switch. Critically, this does not require disassembly and is more consistent between adjustments as no inconsistent torque is applied.
      Included weighted silicon wristrest
      Machined magnetic feet
      OLED touch display with customization and stat readout alongside media knob
      Ultra-high polling rate 8K wired and 8K wireless.
      All this noted, the Original AZOTH, especially with our update SNOW or STORM switches, is a great keyboard and the model we recommend for the majority of gamers and enthusiasts. It will also support our polling rate booster, coming out soon for those who want to benefit from higher than 1K polling rates.

    EDIT: I see that since then it has been rectified to include the "Sponsor" label before the title. Still doesn't remove the fact that there is 0 credibility to be given in a review/channel that has been sponsored by the brand of the product reviewed... (let's not even mentioned the "Insane" "Peak gaming" and other big words to qualify a KEYBOARD (a fu**ing keyboard!!! sold for 500$! the price of a PS5, of a mid range GPU etc. a bit like the new Noctua D15 that nobody will ever buy due to their price). The ability to adjust switch actuation and reset is absolutely key to peak performance in gaming. This channel has become a joke with the way it's handling sponsorships. Now reviews are sponsored with absolutely no mention of it in the title and the description but rather a quick blink and you miss it text in the corner at 0:32. Then on top of that adds another sponsor in the middle of the video to double dip while also making this seem like just another review. Genuinely awful behavior. I guess the bills must be piling up high these days with all the diaper charges.

    Nope, no market for this one. I’m a guy who buys too much expensive shit, and I had no interest in even hearing anymore after the price. A keyboard is never going to be worth $500 until like maybe 30 years from now, when that might be equal to today’s $100.

High polling rates are absolutely useless without hall effect, again, it's totally pointless and you should know this if you know anything about keyboards or gaming PCs. The amount that costs if not going for hall effect for actual competitive gaming, you can get MULTIPLE amazing full-aluminum wired or wireless boards with amazing caps and HMX switches.

    I had no idea people wanted "more" flex in their keyboard... I thought that was one of the main issues people had with cheapo laptop keyboards, the flex.
    I could understand people wanting a little cushion/give/flex, rather than just a hard stop, but not enough to engineer a bunch of features to target that niche.

    • @ventilate4267
      @ventilate4267 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    • @alexossan2829
      @alexossan2829 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Cheap laptop flex is not really comparable due to the travel. Laptop keyboard flex feels bad due to the short travel, while standard travel (3.5mm-4.0mm) keyboard flex gives you a cushion feel and doesn't actually flex, unless you deliberately hammer the keys.
      Keyboard reviewers showing flex on standard travel keys generally need to press down heavily and force it to flex, while in reality nobody types like that.

    • @talosong7409
      @talosong7409 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      In my opinion, the cheap flex that people generally wanted to avoid in the past was more of a chassis flex. The flex/cushion that is desireble now is more like a plate/PCB flex.

    • @Jj82op
      @Jj82op 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      The bad flex from laptop keyboards is from the frame around bending down. But gasket mounts make the whole plate with they keys to move all together. It's just a different kind of "flex".

    • @lordec911
      @lordec911 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@talosong7409 Interesting, I just assumed chassis flex would have a similar feel when using the keyboard. I guess it is one of those things that is easier to understand once you experience it, especially if you can do so in a side-by-side comparison.
