I am actually 'out' currently into this hobby since I built my Monsgeek M1 back in 2023. But I always watched your videos because you create great sounding keyboards with a scientific twist. Sometimes you create not just a review but also an analysis on a keyboard. What a passionate man.
This keyboard basically made me able to claw my way out of the rabbithole since it's basically my endgame! I got gateron jade maxes in a black zinc case with black doubleshot shinethrough pbt keycaps. Still love watching these vids a lot 👍
"The inflection point of HE keyboards is here." I 100% agree with this take. This board makes me very excited to see future releases that iterate from here. Loving the content and I hope you settle-in nicely to the new studio!
Went for the M1W HE and put good stabs with force break and got a really thocky sound hope to see in the future that all magnetic switches can be used in any HE board
The Geon Raws are so nice! I thought the Jades were a big improvement in my Tofu60 mounted 60HE, but these were on another level again. The keyboard is genuinely nice to type on now
tbf theyve got a full size, a 60%, and a 80%, steel series makes a traditional tkl layout with HE switches for the main board and mech switches for num function and arrows albeit i had a bunch of issues with it over time, couldnt be happier after switching to wooting, they just work more consistently than the competition that keeps copying what they innovated which is fair i guess to an extent even though HE boards arent really all that new anymore
I think that while this board is a big step in the right direction for wooting and HE boards in general, things like the plastic case using plastic clips to hold the case together (plastic clips almost always will break and snap with enough wear), and the plate foam being a requirement and not a preference choice because it houses the gasket system still feels "anti-custom" compared to custom keyboards of today. But I have a lot of hope for future wooting boards because they are very receptive to feedback, and it is very awesome to see!
@@JakubixIsHere but it’s not gasket mounting that causes a problem for the accuracy of the hall effect, it’s the plate. the qk65v2 classic with the he pcb can do great with no plate foam with gasket mounting, that’s what the aluminum plate with stand offs on that board is for, to assure constant distance. wooting can do this same thing in the future to welcome different options for sound profiles that doesn’t require plate foam
@@f3nneko ok i was wrong. Any types of flex does that. It is little bit flexable. You know if you have flex, readings of he sensors are all over the place and they are never the same. So if you want accurate actuation point that best option for them. They even tried flex pcb
Whoa, you got the keyboard sounding really good. It still has a bit of that sound that HE switches just... have, but its wayy better than most of what I've heard before. Hoping Wooting updates their 60% cause tray mount feels pretty dated at this point.
I kinda wonder where in the switch is the culprit. Maybe just the lack of a leaf spring makes it more naturally loose. Only problem is HE requires high precision and so any kind of friction is a net negative so....have to somehow tighten the tolerances more and more without adding resistance. We know how nice linears sound normally....it shouldn't be impossible...
@sandwich-plays Hmm potentially...I was considering the jade max switches but unsure yet cause I frankly love the sound of the 80he as is barring the space bar so might swap out the keycaps, idunno yet. Find tuning the sound will take time.
honestly im not sure how much more the extra 100+ dollars is for the zinc. how big of a difference would there be in the sound with the mods you used for the PCR version? trying to go for something "creamy" i guess im not sure how to describe it
had my 80HE for about 3 weeks now and after being in the keyboard hobby for so long i genuinely just dont have any desire to get other keyboards, for literally everything out there its just a case of 'thats cool but i would rather use my wooting'. So i may get geon raws for it, but other than that i genuinely feel like the only other keyboard stuff i may buy is keycaps for when i really want to change the aesthetics of it, but seriously liking my black pcr case and keychron dolch pink cherry profile caps combo so even that might will only probably be later down the line.
Great vid. I gotta ask tho. Is it fine to PE foam mod the hall effect kb ? Im taking aboit putting tge pe foam between the switches and the pcb. Will that affect the kb performance?
The 80HE looks promising as an all rounder. I'm currently testing the 60HE+ and I kinda still prefer it for gaming and its universal compatibility for the cases in the market. That being said, it's all preference at the end of the day. great video! ( * ^ *)b
I've been waiting a long time for wooting to make a 75+ and this keyboard answers all the problems I had with the 60... but man that price tag. I've been daily driving a QK75 for a while and honestly I can't justify that price difference to myself. I wish they'd at least offer a slightly cheaper verison that's keycap and RGB-less because god knows I don't need that.
Excellent videos! I've seen 'em all. Would you please mention if the keyb you review has ISO layout option, please? Would help a lot in the buying decisions. Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I can't wait to receive mine. What would be the difference in sound between using some polyfill and doing a tape mod that I have seen some other people use for the board?
Keybored, I know you're absolutely incredible with modding, but didn't you use an entirely different mic for the stock sound test vs the geon raw? That makes it HEAVILY bias.

I just got my son one for the analogue keys as he was hoping to use it with his mouse on Rocket League but it turns out you can't use the mouse and analogue together so now I'm stuck with a board I don't need and there's no online place to even sell it except eBay who charge 15% of the price, wow.
Do you have any advice on how to soften the bottom out on a HE board? I just got a Yunzii RT75, which didn't make your roundup video, but it was cheap & has a knob: I am fundamentally lost on how to adjust the software for games, but I am mostly ok with the feel of the switches (Outemu pink).
