    The ghost doesn't have to discard all 7 of their cards; they can discard just some of them.

      The American education system is quite lackluster. I believe they would rather have a population of morons since it makes us easier to control. That being said I agree with the others that the instructions could be written more clearly.

    First time viewer. Good explanation. I watched the game played on Table Top and was confused as to what each player was trying to guess (their individual who, where, with what) and what they were trying to guess at the end (the correct who, where, what). Also I enjoyed the background music. I plan to send a link out to my friends so they can come with SOME understanding as to how the game is played.

    One thing is not clear to me. When everyone figures out their stuff and ou are at the endgame. Does the ghost has to reload to 7 cards again and chose 3 from that? Can you still use a crow if the ghost is stuck to help with the last one?

  • @moosehat2
    @moosehat2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Sorry, we got very confused when I played this. At the end (4:13) trying to find the culprit how is that determined from the groups of cards the physics collected? I don't have the rules on me but i remember it saying the Ghost just chooses? That's pretty lame and i really felt we did something wrong. Thanks in advance

    • @TeachTheTable
      @TeachTheTable  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Ghost chooses, based on what cards are in their hand. If the game chose for them, there is a very real chance the Ghost would have nothing that even remotely matches the true crime.

    • @moosehat2
      @moosehat2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@TeachTheTable Ya it does make sense. As I was looking it up too Patrick Reynolds on boardgamegeek wrote "It makes thematic sense, too. At the start of the game, the ghost doesn't remember who killed him. By the end, thanks to the combined efforts of the mediums, he is able to recall the true identity, location and weapon." which really makes it fulfilling and immersive for the ghost.

      I'm glad someone covered this specific bit of the rules. Everything else gets covered in excruciating detail by a lot of the big board game channels. But a lot of them gloss over, or bury, the small detail of how the final culprut is chosen. That's the one part that isn't easy to infer from watching people play.

    • @asraiSOA

    Thanks for the video! Two things. First, does the ghost just decide who they want to be guilty at the end? I could see that being good if they perhaps have good clues for one suspect, however thematically I think it's kind of cooler if you place that token down at setup so it's more like they did it from the start. Second, am I correct in thinking that you don't reveal which clue points to which part of the puzzle? I.e. you wouldn't say, "This is the clue for the person. Now this is the clue for the place. etc." right?

  • @meba444

      @@isaiahdollens196 There's no clear rule on it so yes, the ghost picks.
      The best way to decide is draw 7 cards at the final stage, see which cards match best to the choice of suspects, then pick one based on that.

    How to play Mysterium.
    - ghost spends 30 minutes looking at cards while players sit around twiddling their thumbs.
    - players finally receive cards and in unison say, “wtf!? What does his even MEAN!!??” While the ghost sits twiddling his thumb.
    - ghost spends another 30 minutes picking cards. (He can’t do that ahead of time because he doesn’t know who’s going to guess correctly).
    - everyone loses. No seriously, if you played the game correctly, you will lose.
    - everyone walks away scratching their head and wondering if they’ll ever get that time back.
    Just play Dixit. At least all players are involved together throughout the game, no down time.
