I have better idea better technology than your technology cost zero
I live in Texas and get power outages all the time when a large storm rolls in. Would like to install solar and a couple powerwalls for protection but the cost just too high.
I been saying one day Tesla Energy will be the EXXON of BEVs and the Utility Grid provider and Grid energy ballancer.
I've been HOPING one day Tesla yada yada. IT is the ONLY way to meet the demands of all the cars about to be draining the grid. The "flyover" States will be hit hardest, because fossils don't want to give up fossils. Thus begin the times when driving cross-country becomes either a "Where's ChargePoint" National Geographic (or National Lampoon) adventure or a rerun of Deliverance.

Tesla energy could further reduce the price of Tesla's by purchasing the majority of batteries that are in any Tesla after 5 years. This would give Tesla energy all the batteries they need for energy storage and it would mean less batteries to have to recycle. Tesla energy could also recoup a lot of the cost of buying batteries by also being involved in recycling the batteries! It's time to fix our future!

With self driving cars your car could return home for others in the family to use then return to work for you. And maybe the battery could be connected to house solar to charge the car and power the house instead of a separate Tesla battery. Musk said that cars will be getting more use in the future with self driving.

Car batteries costs have made grid batteries more competitive

Tesla will introduce production growth with new factories and more efficient production with gigapress . This will include new updates and new products ie cybertruck and semi. These have been expenses until they are in production.

I think you need to investigate the history of the word gigawatt, jigawatt is the correct term.
I almost feel like they're deliberately sandbagging with Tesla Solar. Feel as though the previous / existing solar glass tile is both too expensive and not efficient enough re energy production and installation and that they're working away behind the scenes for a next gen product that will be a step-change better. Time will tell

Great video. Question: Elon Musk has said he wants Tesla to get into making heat pumos; have you got any updates about that? Heating that uses 75% less electricity than a regulator heater will have a HUGE market appeal.
Yeah especially for us here in the UK. We're also doing a maaassive national effort right now to insolate millions of old houses to make them more energy efficient and heat pumps would be able to play a huuuuge part of that.

Musk himself said affordability is the most important factor impacting revenue. A Tesla roof system costs in the neighborhood of $50-65k. Not affordable.
When my Tesla roof was installed 2.5 years ago the cost was $50k with 2 Powerwalls. Napkin math showed that Tesla lost a lot of money on my project so I would say your $50-$65k estimate is way low.

I needed a new roof desperately, for a 3000 sq. ft. house in Central California, Home Depot had quoted me $40k. Not only did I get a new roof, I got two Powerwalls and solar to charge them and augment my power bill. For me the $50k was worth it especially when Tesla provided financing, it was a no brainer and worth even more than the $50k.

What actually one powerwall I want I'm sorry anything else Tesla made for pro I don't consider a pothole wall put those giant batteries would make one heck of a powerwall and I would actually like to have like two of them one for my place M14 my parents place now that belongs to my brother.
They're going the wrong way. Li-Ion is not good for storage. LiFePo4 is the one: cheaper, longer cycles, in short much better for storage. Li-ion may be good for power hungry applications, but for the grid, it's not good.
90% sure LiFe is either currently, or planned, to be used in Megapack

Your calculation is right, but the thing to consider is that the world doesn’t need to store all of its energy. There needs to be just enough so that we can balance out the volatility by renewables.

@@its4you984 Could be. Basically, the problem is that if the whole world uses renewable energies, they simply do not supply electricity evenly. Solar, for example, provides more electricity at daytime than at night, when it generates none. So you have to use batteries to store enough power to have electricity at night.
I've heard that some experts believe we need to store up to 20% of the total energy per day, meaning 14kGWH. Nevertheless, with the right optimization, I suspect that we can get that figure down substantially.

Thanks for this content. My thoughts are: You should specify that it's USAian homes ;) That would e like 1/3 more in Europe at least and probl. 10 times more in East Asia. Writing this I can't help wondering how many homes it would power in Elon's home country South Africa, which has major major problems with energy production and delivery. I think thanks to corruption. Maybe Elon should help out there as he did in South Australia.... Or maybe it wouldn't work thanks to said corruption.
I did miss a comparison of the growth and total output of the Teslas energy storage business to other companies in the field and a mention of other new and old companies ramping up as well. Just a suggestion. Still very thankful for your content.

Giga has two pronunciations. It is correct to pronounce “giga” as “jiga.” It is correct but people are sheep so you don’t hear it much.
They're two different things one's metric the other binary
@@MegaWilderness metric and binary both refer to a 1 followed by nine “0’s” or close to that, namely to one billion. Whether a person is referring to the metric or binary system both pronunciations, jiga or giga, remain correct and can applied to both systems.
