    I can’t believe you are out in your Garden in January?! ☃️ for now, the weather is being kind. I’m sorry you are faced with this overwhelming dilemma. However, you are always so calm, upbeat and poisitive. Such an inspiration for all of us, in coping and dealing with challenges. Poor Chloe, darling pooch…so relieved she is fine. Despite everything, the property and surrounding area in which you live…it is so gorgeous! Thank you for sharing and I’m certain many of us are Cheering You Onward!!! 🎉ps…hoping Bruce or other friends can come and give you some support! Best Wishes and Prayers to you & your family! Tomas…You are Wonderful and so generously kind to help with all endeavors! What a Blessing!

      I agree🎉 I want to play detective! I just bet all the H2O, flooding and concern of the beautiful stone wall has happened prior. In city records? Documents? Prior, neighbors/owners/builders had issues as well? There is no way that our “Dear Abbey” (awe famous column😂🤍) could’ve known, nor even foreseen at the time of purchase, all of these issues, especially above her property, and below. Ok, it’s a romantically old Chateau, that’s a give-in, but this is not for the buyer to have to care for neighbors above flooding her property. I love how Tomas totally took control in handling those Frenchmen! What a fine gentleman! It shows what kind of individual you are…these new found friends respect you, cuz you have been so gracious towards them! It’s so wonderful to witness! We are here for you! Bravo 👏 You Got This!!!

    I feel very bad you are going through this cliff situation. I pray it gets resolved quickly and in your favor. Thank heavens for Thomas -- he is such a gem and a good advocate for you. Glad Chloe is ok -- she must be part cat with 9 lives! When Bruce returns, maybe he can get together with Thomas and come up with a doable plan for the erosion. Love your videos, Abby. ❤

    You need to make captions available on your videos so we can get translation I think? OMG the crater at 26:19 crazy. There had to be an official that ok'd all those pipes draining down the cliff towards your historical home. That's nuts and believe you me, some of those pools probably get drained illegally down the cliff. Make sure you have an attorney you can trust for back up. I'm glad Chloe is ok. Sorry but this is a very upsetting situation, I don't know how you handle it so well after all the money, blood, sweat & tears you have put into restoring the Chateau. Thank you so much Tomas! 💜

    Poor Chloe.
    Thank goodness for Thomas rescuing Chloe and helping explaining to these gentlemen, the blatant issue of throwing the water down the mountain, makin it your problem when it’s really their problem for the people who are living up on top of the mountain in their new houses, when all the water should be directed toward the road, not toward the edge by your property. Talk about severely poor, planning on the cities part or the development company. Thank you, Abby.

I’ll bet that gave you some grey hairs! Good luck with the water damage. Don’t know how it works in France but that water from above development is where the problem lies. I am wondering if the entire Chateau is safe! Two words (money)(pit), do not let the development above you get away! They are clearly negligent with their water run off! It appears as if each homeowner is contributing to the saturated water dilemma, as well as the overall design, clearly is insufficient! I would stress, they immediately build a temporary berm, with sandbags at the very least, until they resolve this issue. Water problems never go away. They require accurate, strong managing/engineering to begin with. The HOA guy, should resign, if he has a conflict of interest, especially when it comes to money, and overall obvious insight. You thought it rained in Seattle, boy this seems like a very long in-depth problem.

    That feeling when you can not find your fur child anywhere, lucky Thomas found her . The holes up on top are a safety concern and the Council of the town need to step up I think . Must of been a hell of a lot of water come down . I be getting a small or medium size digger in to clean what's happened up and maybe pull that bit down be fore it goes its self . The drive looks brighter with the trees gone . Toulouse looks amazing love the old buildings ❤. Got your patron card today its gorgeous.

    Hello! First, I’m so glad that Chloë seems not to have suffered any lasting I’ll-effects from her cliff side adventure. Yes, we’ll all stay tuned for more reports of your dealings with local government. It was interesting that there was already some debate about the “ownership” of that path between the upper development and your property. Should prove to be interesting, I’m sure. Too bad that vineyard is gone: the roots would have slurped up some of the water, and of course, wine! I was wondering what that semi-circular structure is near where Thomas was working on the large boxwood early in the video? I’m sure that you showed it to us in one of your early videos, but I seem to have forgot!

  • @williamconway1287
    @williamconway1287 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I have a question , is that path on the top of the hill in your property ? If so you should find out what sort of liability you have if someone trips and falls up there . Also if you should put a few signs , basically saying proceed at your own risk . It would be better to be proactive about up there if it is yours and something happens so you’re not going to be responsible for anyone’s injuries . I realize this is a worst case scenario but better safe than sorry . I just say this because you don’t want to all of a sudden have someone taking you to court on an accident that happened to them and them thinking hey I’ll sue(sp.) her and see i can get something ! Sorry for long winded question .

    • @chateauchronicles
      @chateauchronicles  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thankfully, French laws around liability are different than in the US, so it's less of an issue. But yes, warning signs will now be prudent.

  • @57motherbear
    @57motherbear 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

    I don’t think it’s clear that there is a solution to the drainage issues from above, or am I missing something? Surely there are solutions if the adjudicator is in a “conflict of interest” position. I’m in Canada, and although we may not “sue” like they do in the USA, there are many other avenues to achieve relief from property damage caused by neglect from over zealous permitting by municipalities, or other bureaucracy. And, also by negligent neighbours. Get a lawyer.

    • @chateauchronicles

      A few other vlogs I follow are also having water issues in France. I think t has been a very wet several months there which I think is unusual? Regardless I too think this has been due to drainage from above the chateau. I hope there is some insurance coverage but it should come from the development above her property.

    You need to be more official with the city officer, you must have a lawyer to represent you in this so that they are pushed to do something about the situation and have a better water catchment system created to prevent the water from coming into your property. It might cost you to get a lawyer involved but you must to protect your investment. Look for one that deals with land disputes.

    Did You Know A Mature Willow Tree May Consume 100 Gallons of Water A Day? Don’t plant on top of septic systems, or sewer systems, the roots will grow into the lines. They are very thirsty! I bet 15 weeping willows in the catchment area would help a lot.

    For erosion on a smaller scale we saved our driveway that was on a steep dirt bank by covering bank with thick liner stones and planted a short creeping juniper . The juniper covered the liner ,stones within 5 years and the roots of the juniper stopped the erosion completely.

    If they make you responsible for the rain downpour, can you route it into a large natural pond? Sort of like what they have a Maperton. Just a thought, what a headache! This was actually should have been oar5 of the infrastructure she outing in all those homes. Hugs, I’m praying!

    Shouldn’t they be catching the rain in a cistern to save for when there is a drought to pump back to the homes? Is that not an issue? If it were a single h9me, that is what they would do. Just an idea, and where is Chloe? I’m so glad you found her! Hugs, love and lots of prayers from Texas!

    I 💗 the wallpaper and the colors that you chose. I was thinking that if you have to pay 100k (I hope not!), one solution could be to use some of your bedrooms as airbnb. It could be something as a short term, instead of having to use your savings.

    Abby, I’m so sorry you have to deal with this issue. May I Encourage you to begin documenting every meeting and summarize conversations in one notebook and start a file, because this could go on for quite a while and it’s nice to be able to review dates and refresh your memory down the road. I had several issues with a neighboring farm which went on for years. One plus is that the owners of the houses close to the cliff surely don’t want a large slide to take away their yards and foundations stability! Stay calm as you always do. It’s an admirable quality ❤

    Those men appear useless but that’s France buildings are not regulated not of great construction no money in France, not much employment, I reckon those houses with pools tippling water out from there swimming pools. They need experts on this job to Evaluate the water levels all along that top you were walking on

    I am not done viewing the video, but I think the homeowners above your property are most likely to blame for the rock slide, in my opinion. All those neighbors need to divert the water from their properties elsewhere and all the swimming pools may have to go. I believe that well has to be relocated; it's too close to the cliffside. The one neighbor, may need to remove all those newer structures, which you pointed out, I believe. (Viewed up to 29:03) May the expert find you not at fault and your lawyer fees minimal.

    She is not simply a naked women dancing with a swan. Its the story of Leda and the swan. Leda was the wife of a king but Zeus fell in lowe with her and wanted her in his bed but she refused. So Zeus turned himself in a swan and violated her. Nine monts later she bore 4 children of wich two came from an egg! Thats the story. I think you are lucky to have Thomas in this instance. At least he can translate for you and intermediate for you.I am afraid that this landslide will be a long and costly affair for you!

    Stinging Netels are delicious cooked as spinache or for making tea. The trick is to harvest them when they are very young. So now is the time to harvest them. Older leaves taste awful.

    Abby, try laying down broken down cardboard boxes over the area with the nettles and put the mulch on top of it with a few rocks to hold the cardboard down. It might prevent them from continuing to grow. Poor little Chloe, but so glad she wasn’t hurt. Thank goodness for Tomas. It appears as though when the subdivision was built there were no provisions mandated by the town/city to pipe all of the run-off water to an adequate retention basin. Poor engineering on their part. They just allowed all of those houses to drain down the cliff side without any forethought to the existing properties below. Hope you can get some help.

    • @VintageLPs
      @VintageLPs 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Honestly, the chateau has obviously been on site far longer than that subdivision therefore all their water runoff is their responsibility. All those open pipes aimed at Abby’s property make it obvious that the people responsible for the subdivision had no intention of properly retaining the runoff. I just hope that the municipality doesn’t try to push the expense of fixing the problems onto Abby because they think they can get away with it because she is not a permanent resident. I don’t understand how pulling down the whole stone wall is going to help anything because all that water runoff is next going to be destroying the chateau. The building adjacent to the wall, the one that Bruce worked on before he left, obviously already is getting undermined by that same water runoff. P.S. It is very obvious that the subdivision has no rules for what can and cannot be done on each property. It looks like an absolute mess. Putting an addition onto a house that is practically on the walkway is a joke. Where are the building codes?

    I would put the top of my gate back and either add stones to the top to raise the height or get someone to raise it by adding more metal on each sides of the top that will raise it enough for all trucks to clear it...Because it's a shame not to add it back because it's beautiful 😊
