$800 for a J-arm?! 😍 In 1996" I bought a 88" RM 250 for $200 because it had a broken spark plug wire.. took it home and had it running in 10 minutes!! I was 15 yrs old but knew a thing or two about 2 strokes!! Excellent job on the diagnosis!
Lotta bikes floating around like that if you look, especially near racetracks/riding areas,Im about 20 mins from Redbud Buchanan Michigan, great area to find bikes,/quads.
I had the same year banshee, had to sell it this year due to finances. I have always used 32 to 1 on all my 2 strokes and that always gave good smoke. Not seeing much smoke out your 40 to 1 premix makes me nervous. Another great find on the plug wires, initially I also thought it was CDI.
Such a classic quad, hopefully can ride one in some dunes one day, bucket list trip. That spark plug wire is a tricky one, I don't always think to check that first, but its happened a couple times now.
Good fix bud. I believe you can unplug the kill and ignition switch to rule out. Test/ohm oem stator use it if in spec. Definitely going to be lean. Running stock Jets with aftermarket K&N filter and cold Temps will need to be jetted/tuned. Quick test to check needle seat is to connect tube to fuel intake and blow through tube (using your mouth and holding float) while turning carb upside-down allowing float to close, no air should pass if ok. Set float height to spec. Oh and I didn't notice if the tors delete idle screws were installed. Don't adjust idle using throttle cable.
Yes I'd check those spark plug boots like you said also. Just for good measure on it all. It helps out with your diagnostic's on the not getting consistent spark.
Instead of pouring gas into the carb, just blow into it. It should blow through. Then turn it upside down. It should shut off and not let you blow through it. Much less messy! ☺ 👍
That aftermarket piece on the intake is called a boost bottle. It replaces the crosser over pipe and was supposed to do a bunch of things but really didn't do shit. They were a waste of money.

I love how ten minute jobs always take four hours lol
I use to ride 350 Banshee and that was a rocket! So fun to rip
2 things for you this time. 1. Why do you always use the fuel tank in testing and not a fuel bottle? 2. Is it you that has control over the yard? No way in hell would I ever get to tear up the yard like that, your wife must be very understanding on this matter! Great job!
its just grass, some people take grass way too seriously.
@@ChickenParm152 It's all about property values and the neighbors.
@@leebenson4874 ok bud. your neighbors dont dictate what you do on your own property. Also if you aren't selling your home do you really care if the grass takes away $500 in value? really?
@@ChickenParm152 No but then I'm not my wife who is always in the races with the Jones's. She spends big money on professional yard care so there's that.
@@leebenson4874 your wife is irresponsible with money
ahh that is why it sounds so crisp, they removed the baffles from the stock exhaust lol cause a stock banshee doesnt make that much noise they more sound like a lawn mower, while this sounds crisp
I had a 1996 banshee years ago and I just seen it on marketplace before Christmas for 4500$ I think i sold it in 2010 for like 1200 bucks.
Sounds like an angry bunch of hornets
