Joe, I just want you to know that your channel inspired me to get back into 4-wheelers again- RIGHT IN THE NICK OF TIME. I bought a used machine last year. My buddy has service related PTSD and other physical issues. He was in a really bad place. He now has that machine, and I found another machine just like it that needed fixing. Now both run great (because of learning from your vids), and my buddy grins like crazy because he loves to ride. I do too. Keep passing along the good vibes!
Would love to see casual videos or a video where you do Q&A and tell us about your life and what inspired you etc. That would be aswesome for some us viewers who have been watching you for a long time ❤
He has in the past. Go look through his old vids. Not q&a but him and jade have taken us through tours of their old and new house and the land, they test drove that 4 seat Polaris and took us to the lake some and I think they have a new baby. Watch the old ones you get to meet almost his whole damn family.
Bravo, great find, now let's tear it apart! Thanks again for the many teaching/learning moments. No video is complete without 2Vinny chasing you around the yard
lol i used to do roofing , and i still have my roller magnet , comes in handy making 3ft passes on its wheels and click you find all kinds of stuff lol. but had that happen to me and the magnet found it in 5 mins . i leave in in my truck tool box. fyi i found master 200ft away , found plate about 30 and clip about 60 ft away from main link . so it travel a bit before coming off
Nice find on this one ! @16:02 it looks like the left cam gear teeth are damaged and worn at the 1-2 o’clock position ? They’re definitely not as tall of teeth as the right cam gear. Take Care and keep up the great work.
That’s what I thought also on the exhaust cam . Like a few of them were worn down . That’s from running a bad cam chain for a awhile . So I’m betting that engine been threw hell the last few hours of running
Get some tension on the puller then tap with steel hammer on end of puller it will pop . Don't go crazy bashing it . A single blow with hammer will usually do it. This will stop all your drama with pullers. Done.
Joe, I catch myself watching you work on this. projects and discussing things that need attention, like that cam chain, that's not good seeing one that stiff. I just finished rebuilding front brake calipers on my 89 Goldwing. Excellent mechanical skills!!
Joe can i give you a tip? If you are pulling off the flywheel with a puller, go with the impact untill its locked, then take a hammer and tap lightly on the flywheel, and it should make a POP and come off. Its a tip from one engineer to another 💪🏻😀 As usual great job and good find!
wow, joe gets the big guns out for the clutch wheel. 2 guns and then heat and the old fashion way of the wrecking bar. You sir have patients. felt disappointed that the seller didn't be more transparent on how much work that needs doing. Joe, defo pulled his magic on the vehicle.
Tech tip for you, add a little oil to those threads on puller tools and a touch grease on the end of treaded threaded rod it will make the world of difference when pulling tight items off. You are doing an awesome job with these bikes keep it up!!!👍
Always teaching me something new Joe, been watching you since day 1. Your videos are better than any school or manual. Your positive attitude, patience and staying cool makes your videos inspiring. Gotta ask, do your neighbors ever complain you are making too much noise? Lol.
Fantastic job Joe well done. Look like the chain could use some lubricants too. Nice it come off it was looking a little stiff. First time it didn’t need a full top end rebuild the bottom rebuilt new pistons. It was like everything fell right into place. Good job
Another great score Joe, and so glad you were able to fix it easily, and that the previous owner gave you the parts to do so plus all those extra parts, I wonder how many sellers watch your videos fixing their ATV's they sold you and SLAP their foreheads when you fix them up easily for the most part lol.
Great job as always !!! It looked like the sprocket on exhaust cam is damage ! I kno it’s hard to say by just watching . I’ve done a lot of timing chains and obese they get stuff like that it’s deff been stretched past it’s service limit I’ve seen people put a manual tensioner in becouse they thought the auto tensioner wasn’t working an really put that chain threw hell . . I love running the manual tensioners but you really need to learn how to use one and keep track of how many times you snug it up becouse it will allow you to go past the cam chain service limit . But if used correctly it can double the life of your cam chain and guide
Very nice find ! I got to buy a ktm sxf 250 2009 for 700$ too but holy , it was supposed to be transmission failure . end up changing the crank and waiting on head lifters to arrive . Im happy your quad didnt need alotes of thinks , enjoy
A little PJ1 on that drive chain: noticed it was a little stiff. Good job as usual. Seems like you may be having a run, as far as good buys go. Carry on *and give the little muffin a back scratch* 😊
A tip for when your using any threaded puller its always good to put some fresh grease on the threads especially when using an impact. The threads do get warm from friction and will gall up and ruin your tool. Ask me how I know. LOL Been there done that. Good luck bud. Great videos.
Darn Joe, for a lot of what seemed to be silly amateur repair mistakes, you totally scored on this thing.. what a BEAST! -who wouldn't put a master link clip on?? What?? WHY?
That was one hell of a good deal! If the seller watches the channel, I bet he is kicking himself right now. But at least he got to see it put back together and up and running again.
Joe, your knowledge and skill really paid off on this one! I'm betting the clip for the drive chain was installed backwards! That drive chain looks almost as kinky as the old cam chain. Congrats today you ate the bear!
Seller couldn't get the fly wheel off that's why he sold it surely..... You struggled getting that fly wheel off😊 But you never fail brilliant video again brilliant watching your videos thanks.....Joe 😊
One question, where did all the snow go, a copper headed hammer to hit the flywheel puller might help, hitting with a steel hammer could send metal fragments flying, not good if they hit you in the eye, great video enjoy watching you fixing these machines up.
that exhaust sounds fantastic them bikes really do have loads of power while i was watching i was thinking they go for around £3000 in uk especially good ones with no cracked plastic s so i was pretty close but once again them hands of yours are like a healer they can fix anything well done ❤
Haven't seen real snow ( just flurries that melt as soon as it touches the ground) in years. I would like to have a white christmas. It's been chilly last couple of days. Crossing my fingers.
Joe, were you or are you a professional racer or a mechanic to a racing team? Curious to what you do other then TH-cam? Love watching you investigate and repair these machines.
Damn dude! Did you fully record and edit this vid yesterday?! I figured this was stuff from like a week or 2 ago. My buddy lives in De Pere and just snapped me yesterday with the first snow of the year. That's some crazy work ethic and turnover rate. Appreciate all the vids you put out!
oh God that bumper. ALBA action was/is a dealership here in Sand Diego, CA. "Back in the day," God I sound old, they had a massive dealership here in Poway, CA and I spent DAYS there in the sales lounge playing ATV offroad fury on PS2, talking with the sales team and even bought my first bike there. Hell, I even did my senior year job shadow there and saw all aspects of the company from maintenance to parts, and even to online sales. That location, Poway CA, is now long gone but there are still here in the county and are still making rad parts for ATV's, UTV's, and the like, even sponsoring racers in the Baja SCORE racing circuit. damn those memories hit REALLY hard. ps I think there was even an ALBA racing tuned atv in one of the PS2 atv games........god if I know which one.
@2vintage can you show how to setup the clutch and clutch release lever on one of these quads. I’ve got a 600 raptor that’s kicking my butt. I suppose any brand will do. I hope. Thanks. Great channel and content
Check out the cuervo racing raptor 700 video on it. They're the same as the 660, and he explains how the marks must line up with the external spring tensioned. That's what throws most people off is you have to push the arm against the outer spring tension untill it feels like it won't go anymore. At that point the marks on the case and arm should align. If they're aligned just sitting slack, then you won't have any tension on your clutch cable.
I can’t afford a expensive nice one but I find good deals on broken ones I wish you lived in my area and could help me fix one lol you are amazing on them.
Joe, love your channel. Got a question for you. Artic Cat question My 2015 500 Artic Cat smokes blue smoke on startup but then goes away after a couple of minutes or so. Had compression test done before servicing and got 180 psi.. Lots of power etc. Figured valve seals for sure Got dealer to replace valve stem seals and new head gasket. Bike still smokes a bit on startup. Had another compression test done and got 185 psi. Could it be just oil left over in exhaust? If it was bad rings, you wouldn't get that kind of compression would you? Thoughts?
Joe....yfz factory cam mod look it up!!!!! Also fun fact the alba case saver chain guard is the exact same as the tusk chain guard and they work i know.🙏
Thats an awesome deal even if you had to part out.. Wish I could find deals like that down here is south florida.. tons of the Amazon bikes/quads, but name brands at a premium, not much if any room for profit
Same thing happened to me on my k. FX when I went to go take the fly wheel off to change the one way bearing. I thought I was gonna break the crank before actually popped
Wish there were as many cheat nice looking machines around here in the south as you’re able to score on up north, it just don’t happen like that around here, that quad would’ve still been $2000 + around here in that shape , you got it made in your area Joe, good deals all around just needing a little love 👍🏼
PLEASE folks hit that 👍for this guys Vids he is a top notch guy..This feller is a no nonsence CLASS ACT even my wife enjoys the content and she loves Vinny he is a fast little dude . As always Joe great imformation . Thanks for sharing your exsperience and knowledge .

Riding wicked fast does have a tendency to put your mind in a better place ... At least it does for me.
Wind therapy helps
He’s a beast! There’s nothing he can’t fix!
@@fishn365throttle therapy too
That's great that you can help a buddy like that.
The world needs more people like you. 👍
I foresee a call from the previous owner wanting to buy it back. 😉
If the cam chain was culprit. The seller was on the right path and told the truth. Thank you seller.
Would love to see casual videos or a video where you do Q&A and tell us about your life and what inspired you etc. That would be aswesome for some us viewers who have been watching you for a long time ❤
He can’t He’s too busy buying and fixing wheelers!
But you’re right I wish he would
His life is none of your business.
He has in the past. Go look through his old vids. Not q&a but him and jade have taken us through tours of their old and new house and the land, they test drove that 4 seat Polaris and took us to the lake some and I think they have a new baby. @jerrywilcox9890 not in that way mate. It would be cool to know what inspired him and where he got all the knowledge from.
His grandfather got him started and he passed not long ago. @M-Revs
Bravo, great find, now let's tear it apart! Thanks again for the many teaching/learning moments. No video is complete without 2Vinny chasing you around the yard
Just when I was hoping he would work on more Yamahas, Joe delivers. Another excellent find and video.
Joe you have been pretty lucky with your last couple of purchases. You’re one of the best bike mechanics out there. As usual amazing job 😊
That drive chain looks like it's bound up as the timing chain was! Love your videos Joe!
The rear sprocket is on the wrong side of its hub too
wow $700 what a steal great job fixing it great video like always
Nice find and repair Joe. The way you are ripping around your house with all of your projects, you must have some understanding neighbors.
Finally, you got a great deal on a non-running atv and you didn't overpay when own said it was just running yesterday, I don't know what happened lol.
lol i used to do roofing , and i still have my roller magnet , comes in handy making 3ft passes on its wheels and click you find all kinds of stuff lol. but had that happen to me and the magnet found it in 5 mins . i leave in in my truck tool box. fyi i found master 200ft away , found plate about 30 and clip about 60 ft away from main link . so it travel a bit before coming off

Way to lean 1/4 throttle change to NCVQ needle and will help with a lot of the issues. Nice Find!

I dunno it seems as if the seller never found the reason for the loss of spark
Instead of calling your zip tie a dip stick, you should call it a zip stick.
😂😂😂😂😂
Nice quad! Another successful repair!
At 20:20 that thing is sparking like the 4th of July Fireworks 💥 Show!!! Smart find with the throttle lever switch/trick!!! 👏👏👏

I think one of the newer Dewalt or Milwaukee 1/2 impacts would be a good upgrade too. Both are stronger than the ones hes got.

Joe the rear sprocket is on the wrong side of the hub. I just fixed this on a friends 04 yfz today ironically. That'll get your chain more inline.
Awesome deal n good job gittin it back up n rippin!!!

Teeth on that exhaust cam gear looked really worn. Probably from that bad chain.
I saw that exact same thing. 👍

That drive chain was as stiff & crunchy as the cam chain! Bit of lube would work wonders. Good vid!
Your knowledge is amazing 👍👍👍
Good deal! Nice machine. Hopefully some sleds upcoming with the snow? Cheers!!
You are the best quad and cycle mechanic out there. You have soooo much experience.
Give me a break
It sound wild, it sucks when the chain goes, you are the best man
Greetings from sunny southern Spain, glad it doesn't snow here, LOL.
I can’t afford a expensive nice one but I find good deals on broken ones I wish you lived in my area and could help me fix one lol you are amazing on them.
Would you explain the spark cutoff on the throttle?
Hmm this was a pretty standard fix. Was kind of boring compared to the really tricky fixes. Still entertaining. Thank so much for sharing.
Joe, love your channel.
Got a question for you.
Artic Cat question
My 2015 500 Artic Cat smokes blue smoke on startup but then goes away after a couple of minutes or so. Had compression test done before servicing and got 180 psi.. Lots of power etc. Figured valve seals for sure
Got dealer to replace valve stem seals and new head gasket. Bike still smokes a bit on startup. Had another compression test done and got 185 psi. Could it be just oil left over in exhaust? If it was bad rings, you wouldn't get that kind of compression would you?

You get some screaming good deals!
And he seems to b getting them daily!🙌👍💪🤝🇬🇧🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Already snowing?!?! Apparently autumn only last like 4 weeks
Also day 12+13+14 of project recommendation: Honda XR500
Put the air/fuel to 1.5 turns out and it will bFINE. Make sure the fan is turning the rite way. Switch wires will make it BLOW vs SUCK
Joe....yfz factory cam mod look it up!!!!! Also fun fact the alba case saver chain guard is the exact same as the tusk chain guard and they work i know.🙏

Seen bunch of those chains like that, glad you didn't run it Joe. Last raptor top end we did here, the chain was stiff as a board. Great job.
Same thing happened to me on my k. FX when I went to go take the fly wheel off to change the one way bearing. I thought I was gonna break the crank before actually popped

For a 20yo quad that`s a true gem, only needed a little love…❤
We've had our first snow of the year today 🥶🥶🇬🇧
Can you explain why you would have to re jet a carb if it is backfiring?
At 18:13 you can see spark or something going just below the boot on the motor haha
One day I hope to get a quad, always have wanted one. I've learned alot from you so it will be a project one so I can get a cheap one
dzien dobry.ogladam cie od pol roku i wszystkie nawroty robisz w lewo.,ale zajadly jestes.brawo.

How do you always find such good deals?
Late 1980s Toyota 4 runner pristine condition. Intermittent shutting off. It was the one copper connection 12v to the part of the distributor needed a little bent inward to coil contacts ran fine. I would never start poking prodding wires on that Toyota. I had owner standing behind me while I fixed problem .
What you really need is an ATV or Quad to tow broken machines around your property - Oh wait..........perhaps what you need is a warehouse ?
