The inability to hold one's drink and know when to stop causes entire countries to acquire a bad reputation abroad - the UK is one case in point. Then, there are those who turn into raving horrible monsters, even after two glasses.
Another thing I can't stand is when people persist in talking you into another alcoholic drink after you tell them 'No, thank you!' and call you names if you stick to your decision.

The ppl who are drinking or are alrdy drunk and want you to take another drink& then call you nanes if you stick to your decision are doing all that not for you but for themselves. They know they are or are close to being drunk, out of control or impeded faculties& intellect. They do not want to do it alone& feel justified if they can get another to do it with them. They get mad seemingly at you bc you r excellent decision makes them
Feel ashamed Barrasso s or himiliated about themself bc they don’t want to stop drinking at that moment. Plus they didn’t want to do it alone, esp.seeing a friend who can self-control self-discipline and they can’t at that moment. They don’t possess that kind of self-discipline or self-control& they feel bad about that. They want to then get more numb via more alcohol to stop feeling bad about themself. The irony is if they stopped at that moment then they would feel better about themself bc they could take care of themself like God commanded all of us do. It would instill that confidence,a little pride that I can do it& optimism to continue such a lifestyle of discipline& other virtues!

Drinking and sports are two weapons wielded against young men.
*Playing Sports* is fundamental for boys/young men but watching sports as an adult is a way for the system to capture your tribal instincts/religious instincts and instead of doing something to promote 'your side' you support some random logo with rosters of players that constantly change teams. Drinking is laced into sports watching, but its another thing entirely in America and seems almost a program of 'instead of risking young men getting together and creating a better future, let's just have them compete with each other to see who can drink the most'
A defense protocol for the system if you will: convince men that what they should be accomplishing is: 1. Getting drunk 2. Getting laid 3. Watching sports 4. And now with the perpetual children ubhave the marvel movies and such
Ugh God take me home plz

I wanted to tell you Dr Marshall… I went to Catholic Mass sung in Latin today.
I had wanted to go for a while, but was shy about it. Well. Your videos gave me the little shove I needed to get through the door. So thank you very much for that.
This church has a lot for Latin lovers. Mass in Latin several times a week, I think.
I am not confirmed Catholic, so I abstained from communion (believing one must first be confirmed).
The church is so much more beautiful from the inside, there was much to wonder at.
The congregation made me wonder if the future might be Catholic … babies and children everywhere!
As Church of England (by default) and Catholic Convent Educated, I was amazed I could remember some bits… like Solve and Mia culpa. I need more.
I would have joined in more if the fellow next to me hadn’t had such a beautiful baritone, it reduced me to tears.

Everyone knows the moment they rly feel the alcohol about to “hit” or knowing that one more drink will make them feel drunk or push them over the edge. I think that’s the line of demarcation. You should probably say no to any more drinks once you begin to feel “okay alcohol is hitting me, let me stop before I get drunk”

I always thought that was so twisted and a sign of the situation of Ireland. It's fine to have a drink and be merry, but the way they "celebrate" a saints day and have made it devoid of Christianity and just degenerate ...I think it was a sign of what we later saw coming out of Ireland (and now see).

Dr. Taylor's girls are so smart. When I was in high school, here is an example of how we were taught by the nuns at school (and our parents depended on them to teach us):
    1. we could not wear black patent shoes because they reflected what we were wearing under our uniforms
    2. girls who chew gum, smoke; girls who smoke, drink; girls who drink, have sex.
We were so well prepared to go out into the world and be safe!!!!!

I often wonder about the water to wine miracle at Cana, the jars used are massive, tons of wine distributed as far as I understand, but I also understand 1,000s attended wedding feasts in those days, just makes ya wonder was it a big party with intoxication?? Singing, dancing, having a good time, I can see God wanting us to enjoy and relax at times, was their moderation back then, how did people act? I understand the symbolism of the first miracle, but have always been curious of the party once the best wine showed up.

Martial arts is my life, and I have a beautiful dojo with wonderful students. My Sensei bought me my first pint of beer when I was of age, as I grew older I got to know him..... Iv seen it a few times to many, when he got the beers in him, he had an evil in his eye, and I could feel it and sense it. He got violent and abusive and nasty and horrible, we had a fist fight one night and I won with out fighting just using my words, it's scary to see a nice person turn like that. * giving you food while you are asleep, so first thing you see when you wake up is a meal

I became acquainted with the tradition 4 years ago. Already the first holy mass (Missa lecta) left such an impression on me that I immediately realized that this is the only and correct way of worship that best describes our faith in the Triune God. My question is: let's go to mass in brotherhood of St. Pius X (FSSPX).
Looking at the spirit of the times we live in, I ask myself a question, and at the same time, you. Was Marcel on the trail of St. Athanasius or is the brotherhood on the trail of schism?

clients are in complete control of the intervention.
There must be a willingness to participate, otherwise the therapy is very likely to be unsuccessful.
People have an incorrect understanding of what hypnosis and a trance state is and how it can be used to alter unresourceful behaviours for someones good (likely from watching stage hypnosis demostrations).
When you watch your tv or drive your car to work on the same route everyday, you go into a state of trace.
Utilising a natural state the mind can achieve on its own to modify unresourceful, and sometimes deadly behaviour is the definition of a moral thing to do.
People are putting themselves into a state of trace with on different levels everyday depending on what they are doing.
At the end of the day, the client still needs to make the changes themselves in their everyday life.
Many people have done 12 step programs and been unsuccessful until I have worked with them. For whatever reason (and its not for me to understand) the religious and spiritual component of 12 step wasnt for them.
I respectfully disagree with the assessment that hypnosis is akin to drunkeness as it is a misinformed statement.

I've thrown up from drinking multiple times but while in that state I never blacked out, never forgotten how the night went, never made a big decion that I hadn't thought out before hand, never committed a sin that wouldn't also commit when I'm sober. When I'm drunk sure i might be a little more willing to commit a sin but when I do it's because I choose to do it not because the alcohol made me. It's not like I only commit sin X when I'm drunk, I'll do it when I'm sober too. I've been plenty drunk but I still have all of my mind, and the vast majority of my will. In other words not much different from when I'm sober. So how then is it a sin? Now if your talking alcoholic, yes that is a sin because you are a slave to your addiction. The addiction is the sin not the substance. Doesn't matter what you're addicted to, youre a slave to whatever it is. Now If I get drunk only on Friday nights but I'm sober the other 6 days how can you say I'm an alcoholic. Clearly I have more power that the desire and can deny it at will. Perhaps a single instance of drunkenness could be called greedy, but without the addiction is that really a mortal sin. Dog like not everything is a mortal sin leave some room for venial. That's my current take on it.

      Stealing from others venial.
Public property if perhaps picked to give glory to God or for love of others ....& one flower......sure that's fine if not like a public park display ; but growing abundantly & wild.

5:18 _"if you cannot operate a vehicle you are drunk"_
In the sense of "drunk driving" or the sense of Ephesians 5:18?
    I think they are different.
Operating a vehicle takes lots of fine tuning and quick reaction capacity well beyond the actions of free will and sound intellect.
And what if you cannot operate a vehicle for another reason? Like sleep privations? They will make you look wasted next day too.

I like that you made a distinction! Even though I am an American I spent 12 of my first 18 years of life in Germany in 3-4 year stints. "Merry of heart" sounds good. When young Americans when they would first get to Germany in High School would go off the rails and get drunk. Quickly they conformed to a norm that frowned upon drunkenness' and embraced "Merry of heart". In less than a months time often they too would embrace the idea of moderation of drink and frown upon excess! So it did not take long for this change to take place.

I gotta weigh in....as someone who did edibles for years and experimented with the range of getting high, if one had one mild drag of regular cannabis and exhaled shortly would not do much, maybe make one relaxed.....that said, all the priests I know as a now a Catholic of 3 years, none say it is ok unless prescribed as medically necessary. Cannabis will quickly ...I mean exponentially distort time, to very slow, enhances all senses and sensations of the body... lowers inhibition as alcohol does....if one tired and or has low tolerance ...they might just pass out...if ingested orally ? dont be surprised if your high or at least thick in mind and dizzy.... potheads arent as a rule violent...cannabis wont make someone hyper usually....but internally??? DAYDREAMY and the onslaught of shoring up anxiety is always there.... even at time spooky levels...like feeling the presence of a watcher imagined or otherwise....and even season cannabis users cant run from anxiety...also it is CARTE BLANCE to let and go with any and all thoughts and it is not like you can stop it well or at all anyway.....so a strong joint? 5-7 hours of impairment, maybe some terror/anxiety for 3-4.5 hours...edibles slower ramp up and longer effect 120-20mg depending the person.. This level of MENTAL impairment/arrest from alcohol would be like a teen girl chugging 500 ml a sweet sugary liquor on an empty stomach for the first time.... out of it.... about 5-8 hours, puking, dizzy. That is how strong Cannabis arrests the mind - but with alcohol it affect the body FIRST and lingers long after mental high from booze. Cannabis in heroic doses 300mg or 3 strong joints? well that is gonna be a long one....unless you're Willy Nelson ( brain receptors for cannabis habitually shrunk) you are gonna feel it for 14 hours or more maybe feel nauseous. probably lots of anxiety. Alcohol wont touch this level of mental affect unless mixed with a drug or medication. So I hope that sheds light on why the Catholic church teaches against Cannabis - it will rob your will, your presence of mind and vigilance against evil...not too mention make you constantly eat or seek other body pleasure's! Stay away from it and all recreational drugs

The recent Bud Lite ad was not made by real people of genius.
But that would have been the perfect time to mention that self medication of alcohol, that is, getting drunk is a sin.

2:38 You would agree that Ephesians 5:18 is not speaking about _alcohol doctors'_ definition of intoxication, like even from the first glass?
Because if not, you pretend priests sin when they celebrate Holy Mass.
Drunk is not euphoria of the first glass, as with eating chocolate, due to the calories, or slightly tipsy if you go beyond, drunk is when you continue past slightly tipsy.

Ok so it's a sin because you don't have custody of your mind. Agreed. But what happens if you lose custody of your mind because of mental illness? I fear nothing except for psychosis. Loosing custody of my mind means that I could commit suicide. I could lose my life and my soul in the process. That's the grey area- losing custody of the mind through no fault of my own. Thanks be to God that I haven't had an suicidal ideation since 2006. But I fear that more than any illness.

Indeed, grapes do not grow everywhere. That's why some orders brewed beer instead. But beer came had different alcohol levels. For example, small beer had on average 1% alcohol. Some of the "soda pop" we drink today like root beer, ginger beer, birch beer, etc. were traditionally produced by lacto-fermentation, which produced a bubbles and a small amount of alcohol. Small beer was drunk by all ages. It was the Coca Cola of its time.

Some Protestants think the Catholic Church justifies alcoholism. Sure there are stereotypes of Irish, Italians, Poles and Germans drinking excessively but the teaching is clear. The drink is not sin but drunkenness is. I see Knight's of Columbus guys drinking beers like water but maybe many Catholics are ignorant as well.

    • @francikeen
      @francikeen ปีที่แล้ว

The *Catholic clergy never preach against drunkenness.* Not even during 1800's and 1900's when *men's habitual drunkenness was a massive, massive problem* that often caused husbands to neglect their families. Habitual male drunkenness precipitated Prohibition in Russia, then in America. But, of course, Prohibition failed because *moderation is the key,* not total abstinence. Silence is deemed as consent, legally, so I don't blame Protestants for thinking RCC approves of drunkenness. Practically speaking, they do, by *not teaching* that drunkenness is sinful, sometimes mortally sinful.

Also priests spoke about it in the 1800s as I've read books about it where the priests tried to protect their congregations ... remember though, a lot of people saw it as "ruining fun" "kill joys" you do have a bunch of people who chose to ignore church rules for fun, pleasure, hedonism... temptations and sadly a lot of people fell for it, hence the decadence.
