I don't know the details of your specific situation, but Schism Tracker could be a better option than BeRoTracker, as it has an Impulse Tracker-like interface, is updated more frequently (it received an update just 15 days ago), and can run natively on Linux.

There are currently 3 issues with Schism Tracker:
- The sound quality is clearly worse than with BeRoTracker.
- The image/window refresh rate cannot reach a stable 60 FPS. (This feature is even worse for Windows.) This would be important for video production, because if we are already making a video, the movie video track should also be flawless.
- There are some .XM songs that also contain a surround channel. Neither Fasttracker 2 nor Schism Tracker handles this: th-cam.com/video/575r0zzE0kE/w-d-xo.html
If these bugs are fixed, we will switch to it.
The age of BeRoTracker is currently not a problem because the basic properties of the .IT format have not changed. If it contains extras (eg. VST effects), we use OpenMPT for playback.
