The dull Zulu Time may look nothing like the lovely vintage watch it is claiming to be inspired by, but know how 'good' they are because of the '5-star review' on the dial...
I've always thought that I was only really into dive watches, but looking at Teddy's channel here has really opened my eyes up to so many other different spectacular time pieces that are not dive related that are really very interesting to me now.
Finally!! THANK YOU for recognizing the finishing quality of Bell & Ross! Way too many people complain about the movement while completely overlooking the beautiful fit and finish of B&R watches. The most comfortable watch I’ve ever worn - bar none!!
The King Seiko is indeed one of the best looking and finished watches below the Grand Seikos, but U do agree the movement gave me pause, considering the overall price of the watch. The redesigned Longines Conquest is a real beauty as well.
I bought my wife the Breitling Chronomat Automatic 36 in the green dial and it is absolutely stunning. I bought it along side a Grand Seiko SBGA413 Shunbun, the pink dial, and it is nearly as well finished. Thoroughly impressed with it. My wife wears them both equally, but I think she might actually like the Breitling more!
Hey Teddy. Thank you for all of these videos. You've been very helpful in educating and providing great broad recommendations on a lot of lesser known brands. I just picked up an Oris Diver 65. I love it. Thanks!! Keep it up!
I agree, the poor bracelet quality and lack of appeal from the case is what kept me from buying the Snowflake…if I could put a GS dial and movement into a better case and bracelet, I would in a heartbeat.
That Accutron looks incredible! Not my usual cup of tea, but the smooth sweep, the spinning turbine type thingy, the dome, it totally looks like something from a 60's sci-fi series.
I like that GMT so much more than the regular Hydroconquest. Never liked the big 12-6-9 markers on the Hydroconquest. Absolutely love the dial of the GMT though.
Wow Longines has picked it up and taking the fight really into the dour Tudor Camp. This augurs well for the group as Omega may soon make its upward (in price) movement taking the fight into Rolley camp ! Get that Omega you’ve been eyeing for long before they go unobtanium !
I love the finish of the movement on the Baume et Mercier Clifton Baumatic. It's a great watch for the money. The CW looks goof for the money and both Longines on the list look great.
Love seeing Formex on the list. Just bought a Formex Essence 43 with a white dial, and man that is a beautifully finished watch. Between the finishing, suspension, micro adjustments and quick adjust for straps, the watch should be $5-7k and it was $1500.
Another superb presentation which goes to prove you do not need to waste your time with waiting lists, authorised dealers who act like gangsters etc , another great watches are available.
You can add the GO Senator Sixties to the list. Caliber 39-52. Excellent finishing along with amazing movement. Retail might be a little higher but still can purchase new for 5 and under.
I recently got the SBGW283, there is bracelet for this watch! It’s absolutely gorgeous. I went to the AD to checkout a lot of their sports watches and spring drives, but kept coming back to this. Absolutely stunner, perfect proportions.
Lmao imagine being this dumb, buying a Grand Seiko, when you have so many better alternatives than this glorified Seiko comes niwhere close 🤣 Enjoy your anime garbage
I just got the GS SBGA413 with the Spring drive, 9R65. Just stunningly gorgeous. I spent several hours trying on Breitlings, Omegas, Tudors and TAGs but I kept coming back to this. I know it's outside of this price range but almost every Grand Seiko has superior finishing.
THE CITIZEN collection. Should very easily be on this list. I don't know why it's never in his videos. Their dyed paper dial is more Japanese than any grand seiko dial by a long shot, they need to gather the plant to make the dye, then dye the paper by hand, they let it dry for several months. It literally screams Japanese tradition. And it's less than $3,000! And they have mirror polishing just like grand seikos, and it's got a perpetual date so you don't have to change it every month. I personally think it's the best quartz movement for the price including over grand seikos own quartz movement. And it's solat powered so it never needs replacement batteries.
They're also typically half the price of a GS. But, arguably, as a JDM they're not really available - which is the reason I keep never quite pulling the trigger on one: no problem buying it from Japan, but sending it back or flipping it if I don't like it could be a major pain.
@@duncanhamilton5841 less availability is better because it's harder to get making it more unique. Rolex isn't hard to get it's just long to wait for exaggerating the unique feeling manipulating most people. Anything that's less available, as long as it's well worth the price in comparison to the entire competition, is always a good thing. As long as the only way to buy it isn't to have to buy second hand stupidly over priced prices. Grand seiko doesn't have that issue with production pieces and citizens the citizen collection doesn't seem to have that issue as most of their stuff you can buy from Japan at reasonable at retailer prices which are significantly better than privately owned sellers or artificially marked up retail prices. They are 100% available, in limited quantities. 100% meaning you'll probably find the one you want at retail or under retail price. Unlike my seiko scxp177 which is over 5-7 times what I paid for it when it released, and my scxp179 I bought late but is still sold for hundreds more.
One of the most underrated brands with the best finishing is Jaeger & Benzinger. On Wathcbuys under $5k. Similar to Christopher Ward - Behrens ( under $3k) - the one who worked with Konstantin Chaikin. Horage + - Tourbilion (under $4k) is a proprietary beautiful movement with micro-rotor purchased by Breitling. Ophion 786 -under 4k euros - guilloche, double barrels, with Voutilainen lugs, top finish. Atelier Wen - under $4k - guilloche, top movement finish - bracelet just wow.
Great video and list Freddy. Frederique Constant Highlife Worldtime. Simply an amazing watch for the money, for those of us who can’t quite afford a Nomos or Vacheron WT. I prefer the Highlife case to the Classic for this reason, for its case and integrated bracelet and straps.
I discover in each video new nice watches . It is a god surprise that BELL&ROSS built a watche for less than 5000 $ . I also like the Frederique Constant World timer . Thank you for your quality videos.
Another watch worth mentioning is the Casio Oceanus S100 and T200. Both have superior case and bracelet finishing to many $4K+ watches. Both watches can be found for less than $500 new.
I recently got the King seiko and the GS sbgw283, and I really love both of them. For the GS I have nothing to say, it is simply stunning and is perfect for me. With regard to the King S., even if Seiko use an average movement for this watch, I measured a very good range of precision (+6 sec. per day), so I can be satisfied with it. Furthermore, I would have added another watch to your list (that BTW remains very useful and I agree with your choices), the Omega DeVille Prestige (5000€ price list). Fantastic Watch.
These videos always get me excited then I end up down a rabbit hole. I love orange and I started looking at the Mido Multifort and in doing so i discovered the Mido Multifort Special Edition which i instantly fell in love with and cannot justify the price just yet lol.
I have the TV Big Date in blue. Stunning. Quality up there with watches several times the cost. Mido didn't have my attention previously. They certainly do now.
@@Tikkaspecial The Multifort Special Edition with the orange leather band is absolutely stunning with the black face and orange hands. Orange is my favourite colour, so finding good watch that features orange is very difficult.
Longines, Nomos, Oris, Breitling, Grand Seiko, Bell and Ross, AnOrdain are all spot on picks. I assuming quartz watches were left off the list. If that's not the case then you must see "The Citizen" THE CITIZEN JOUNETSU COLLECTION CHRONOMASTER LIMITED MODEL AQ4020-54W. That's one fine finished piece.
The silver Black Bay 36/39/41 does not appear on the Tudor site anymore. Only the champagne color is similar. Are the photos older? The ETA version from a few years ago?
I’m kind of missing the pros of the Nomos finishing. Comparing the DUW3001 to the Frederic Constant movement I see the same techniques + FC’s more eye catching rotor modification. Is it about the difference in precision of these types of finishing?
I just saw the nomos yesterday here in india and i did try some other watches as well but man once i saw the back of the nomos i was stunned at how beautiful it is and none came even distinctly close to that finish some even more expensive couldnt match it. It is 100% where i am putting my money next.
You should take a look at Cuervo y Sobrinos. They smoke out of the water almost every watch on that list. Founded in 1882. The design and finished are top notch.
Hi Teddy, I see you wearing what I think is a Zenith chronograph, and a I wonder how much your collection may have changed since the first videos. You should do a State of the collection video!!!! :)
Hi Teddy, What do you think of the Must de Cartier? I see that you never include it in any of your lists and I'm wondering if maybe it's a model that's not worth it... can anyone help me?
Agreed. I chose my Aquis over a Submariner back in 2018 because I genuinely couldn’t see what the extra cost of a Rolex was providing. The Aquis seemed better engineered, while Rolex seemed to be skating on name alone.
@Minisconv That's a very cool watch. I like that one too. Mine is the Divers 65 Auto with the kind of bronze/Yello dial. It just feels quality and they look great.
I realize that you are more into automatics than quartz watches, but when mentioning finishing, you really should have included the Casio Oceanus line. Zaratsu polishing on the level of Grand Seiko. What they do with titanium is amazing.
I think the old conquest has a more commanding presence with the large 12 and 6 and more prominent crown guards. The design in the new dial and getting rid of the arabic numerals make the new conquest look like any other everyday watch not unsimilar to the tissot gentleman.
Longines really upped their game and quality since 2022, making it an even better gamebreaking value brand, honestly they are tickling tudor... that black bay pro height is embarrassing
Does this watch exist? Diver 40x20x12 including glass. 47 or less lug to lug. Date option at 6. Drilled lugs or quick release bracelet. Bracelet 20 down to 16 back to 20, screw links. New style extension and 1K or less. Automatic
Longines is coming with HEAT this year 🔥
The dull Zulu Time may look nothing like the lovely vintage watch it is claiming to be inspired by, but know how 'good' they are because of the '5-star review' on the dial...
But it was really tight on his wrist?
The Zulu time is awesome. I have one and everyone loves it.
I want the green dial version of the conquest.
@Gumby56 Have a look at the new Conquest Chronograph, due to be released shortly. Amazing looking watch.
Teddy, I appreciate the time you take to index your videos. Extra work on your part but appreciated as a viewer.

Finally someone has mentioned the breitling chronomat 36. I have this watch and it's finishing superb. Nice one Teddy 👍
Honorable mention to the Ball in-house movement. It's gorgeously finished on the Engineer M Marvelight.

Such a shame Grand Seiko don't make their own bracelets. They are such a contrast in finish vs the cases
I agree, the poor bracelet quality and lack of appeal from the case is what kept me from buying the Snowflake…if I could put a GS dial and movement into a better case and bracelet, I would in a heartbeat.
Who makes their bracelets? I have two GS and wear both on straps because their quality is horrible
Thank you Teddy for the great video. Grateful you love horology as we do. Cheers and keep well.
Well done on including the Accutron Spaceview 2020! I’m a fan of this model.
I'm a big fan of that Longine Automatic Chronometer. Beautiful piece
I watched this video and the whole time I matched watches to friends and family personalities for future gifts. Thanks 🙏🏼
King Seiko ,Garyu Bai red dial loooks smashingly cool !
That Accutron looks incredible! Not my usual cup of tea, but the smooth sweep, the spinning turbine type thingy, the dome, it totally looks like something from a 60's sci-fi series.
