    Excellent video, dropped my balt on two jack stands lowering it several years ago and the radiator works fine but has a massive dent in the bottom of it about 8 inches up in the center so might as well replace it while I am doing the heater core and thermostat this week. The video helped a lot just with the idea to take the bumper off to get to it easier without a lift.

    I’m currently doing this on a 2010 cobalt, did you top off transmission fluid after radiator replacement? How much needs to be added?

      @@ryangilliland2938 yes sorry I just got this notification, refill trans till it runs out of the level plug on the side of the case.

    I have a 2008 Cobalt and the fan may need replacement. Watched another TH-cam video and they removed 6 bolts under the car that fasten the 2 support brackets for the fan radiator condenser assembly and removed the fan out the bottom while the front wheels were up on car ramps. Looks like it may be easier to get the radiator out that way too. Maybe. Looks like your way works.

    You don't have to remove the bumper cover.there is a video that shows the radiator from underneath the car it is so much simpler.the video is from TRQ.

      Not everybody has a lift or can get the car that high off the ground.

    Very easy to drop it out of the bottom. Take off lower and upper mounts,

      True if you have ramps or a lift. Thanks for watching and commenting ✌️

    Good video, I never would have imagined that that you have to take out the front clip to access these parts. I saw another video where they took the radiator out/in from the bottom. Comparing the two, your method looks better as it appears easier access to connections, hoses, no lifts, etc. There was a comment that your video did not have enough detail, but it look sufficient detail to me. What is in those transmission cooling lines, antifreeze or ATF? if ATF, do you have to add ATF to transmission?

      Ah thank you, yeah I didn't know what I missed in the video. Make it tool long people gripe toos short people gripe... Wadda ya do lol. Yes the trans lines have ATF, but most of it is in the trans. There is a surprising amount in the radiator and lines but not anything that a quart won't top off. BTW... To top off there's a plug in the trans case and the fill port is the vent, unscrew the vent cap and use a medium size, long reach funnel. Fill till it spills out of the plug and you are done. Id cycle and top off at least once at the new lines and radiator will need to be filled.

      @@ikcpodcast2985 When you add fluid until it comes out the plug hole, is that when the transmission is hot and in neutral, or in drive, or the car off, or ???? Since they do not have dipsticks on the transmissions anymore it seems an effort to figure out how much fluid to add.

      @@tommak6516 I do it with a warm transmission and in park but like I said I top it off, drive it, then open the plug and add and see if it spills.

      Small tranny cooler lines for automatic, manual doesnt have them. Add ATF in to the tube where you check the level, easy. Get ramps and take the Rad out the bottom, 3 brackets, dont tear the front off.

      @@victorbarner6254 If my car has no dipstick/tube to fill auto trans, then what. Also, to get radiator out from bottom, how high (in inches) do the ramps have to be. Not sure most ramps can get it high enough.

  • @bruce553
    @bruce553 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It is totally unnecessary to remove the bumper cover.the radiator drops right out between the cover and fan.

      @@bruce553 yep and you said the same thing 2 months ago (a comment which I responded to) and you're correct. No argument there.
      I'm showing people how to do this without jacking the car up and putting it on jack stands because not everybody owns that equipment. Or can do that safely... But thank you for the comment.
