24:49 Marques ... He's right, go to a furniture store. You can actually pick what you want that way. And if you're having trouble, you can actually rely on the sales people. I spent months looking for a couch, burned myself out, and stopped looking for a year. Then, I decided it was time. So I went to the furniture store I liked the best and explained it to the salesman and then said "Can you please show me just 3 couches, that are like [description], and around $XXXX." He showed me the 3 couches, I asked a couple questions. Made my choice. Took like 30 min, if that. And I'm super happy with the choice.

    • @girlgreenivy

Haha I watched my aunt buy a couch like this recently. I couldn't stop asking her how she is not concerned that she didnt get the best option etc. She said, she found a couch that she likes and does what she needs it to do. Isn't concerned about getting the best possible option she could, just happy that she got an option she can live with.

1:00:00 yea this is true I’m a 16 year old high school junior and EVERYONE I mean EVERY kid in my high school has an iPhone. I previously lived in Nigeria (an African country) and coming to the US was an eye opener it’s INSANE. I mean you could walk to any kid and you’d see them with AirPods in their ears and some iPhone in their hands. I was FORCED to make sure I got an iPhone because of iMessage groups your basically screwed if your a US teenager without an iPhone. It’s so comical every single kid has white plastic in their ears and an apple in their hands .

Some people in the comments swear Iphones are selling very well in India, which I still question it. I definitely don't think that they sell that well overall in China and the rest of the world. I think it's mostly US based because Apple's overall market share isn't high enough to justify the positions worldwide, and cert couldn't tell the true story if the many variants foreign companies have were totally counted.

On the ecosystem lock-in at 1:00:00. I think what it comes down to in the apple case is that they build up a very high level of integration, within that ecosystem. And some of the following points were kind of mentioned but I'd like to summarise them again:
    - The integration is not only showing on the surface with apple exclusive features and seamless interactions among apple devices
    - The integration of the hardware in the perspective of systems integration and supply chain integration when designing and building the products. And also reusing parts over generations and between different products
    - Building high and low-level software specifically for that hardware or their OSs
And to conclude, this position of apple was build over many many years with is mindset in place from the beginning. And in that position they always were able to charge premium prices and build upon that dominance while saving money at the process that is already feeding them well.
And just to mention, there are obviously other facts that make Apple a very successful company.

On the TikTok paywall subject -I’m a short form cooking creator and I have no idea why people would pay for recipes behind a paywall when there is so much free stuff out there. But, I know a few creators who sell either individual recipes or a bundle of them on their website from $3-$20 and while it’s generally a low conversion rate compared to views, they have made $4k+ in a month doing this. So my gut reaction was similar to Andrew’s but seeing this creators experience I would guess more people will pay for stuff than I would think. Sorry for the book

David, make sure you pick adequate exercise clothes. Cheap clothes trap sweat and bacteria and fungi can grow. Though only women can suffer from yeast infections because of exercise leggins that don't have adequate ventilation, the same rule applies to men's exercise clothes. Be safe and do your research. Also, if you think about it, value is better described over time. If you get 5 cheap pieces of clothes that you have to throw out within the year - or less- vs one that can last you 3 or more, what is actual value? Value for your money and value for the environment. If you really don't care about clothes and prefer value, try thrifting. Get some great quality clothes at a lower price!

Although purchase power parity is significantly skewed when the U.S. and my region are taken into account, it doesn't stop folks getting their hands on the latest Apple tech.

    With the "ecosystem" talk:
I'm currently trying out the Galaxy Tab S8+ and the fact that I Have to download an app, made by Samsung at least, to make it interact with my phone with notifications, calls(?), etc. already makes me want to hold on to my iPad Air 4th, and just rejoin the Apple life in EVERY thing but a computer. All of it just Works Well Together and I loved that about Apple. Samsung, and even Google, has Got to get their respective ecosystems working better because I'm thinking now, I return this Tab S8+, I wait a year, pay off my S22+, and go right back to Apple, cause it all works seamlessly right out the box.

Idk if this means much, but when my mom bought me my first phone, she asked her coworkers--the younger ones, or those with kids, specifically teens--what kind of phone was popular with kids/younger generation and what would be a good choice and they said an iPhone. So that's what m mom bought and I have been stuck (happily and accustomed) in the Apple ecosystem ever since despite the fact that everyone in my family has Samsung. I am the oldest cousin on both sides of my family and all the kids under me who have phones have Apple. So you have this situation in my family where the entire family is split between older and younger generations and Samsung and Apple respectively. I got my first phone around 2015.

Marques said at 57:37 thay S23 models didnt show up in the chart. The reason is they were launched in 2023 and the report is for 2022.

The point still stands because s22 series is Samsung's premium offering for last year

Maybe he meant s22 or even s21. Neither shows but their cheaper offerings do. His point still stands though

There is a guy I follow on TikTok who basically already does this. He’s a scholar and he’ll talk about misconceptions/misinfo in his field and occasionally he’ll advertise online lectures that he does

Samsung lost a lot of buyers when they killed the Note series and had a year gap between their replacement for it merging with the S series in the ultra model.

I think they'll lose a lot of customers because they have no phone between the flagship and the budget/cheaper end.
