I don’t know how to communicate this to you guys, but the version of the podcast you just uploaded to Apple podcasts is last weeks podcast over again. I think you uploaded the wrong file. The problem will probably be fixed before you even see this comment but I had to try.
@@Broba_Fett Most of the time my wife and I are FaceTiming with family and it’d be nicer to be able to have it mounted somewhere so that both of us can talk without having weird angles or keep moving the phone to whoever is talking. An AR/VR headset doesn't work for a live reveal because they can't actually convey to you what the device is like. The video they showed can only go so far towards trying to explain what the device is but people have to wear it to truly understand.
Being someone who has watched every Apple Keynote ever, I like the new formats way better. More engaging, more entertaining, more information and more accessible to more people. Do I think there is room for a hybrid style, something that brings a little more for those who attend, like live introductions of each section with some quick samples, then 75% of it being video, then a closing with a high profile band giving something for the crowd...yeah, that would be cool too.
With the Apple Vision Pro, when you get up and start moving, if you were in full immersion, it fades to the real world for you to see where you are walking. Once you stop moving, it reimmerses you.
No joke, Apple TV screensavers are mesmerising. More than a few times I've just gotten lost watching them slowly fly along (or 'swim' in the neat underwater ones), studying what's there and what's happening. I love that I'll be able to get them on my computer too.
The reverse eye passthrough was super conflicting for me but the more I think about it, I like it. The cost and weight is unnecessary, but giving the people around you a window into your receptivity is compelling. When demoing VR to my friends I always felt weird interacting with them when in the headset. I imagine people feel weird interacting with me when I'm in VR. This is a great middle ground. It has a cost but it makes sense.
Does anyone remember the old 'BUMP' app, where you could share documents, contacts etc just by bumping your phone together? I STILL miss that app to this day and the new namedrop feature reminds me a lot of that.
Prediction: in a near future version of iOS they introduce the ability to take 3D photos with your iPhone. Like the panorama it will prompt you to take photos from two different vantage points and will stitch the photos together and smooth out the differences to make a 3D photo you can view through the headset
Or one of the cameras will be on the opposite side of the phone so when you enable 3D pic mode, it take two pics at once and makes a light depth effect you can truly enjoy in vision os. Maybe even use a bit of Live Photos to fill in more depth data for the picture.
I completely agree, @David Wych! I predict iPhone 16 or 17 may either add a 3D photo mode - or - actually add another lens to the opposite corner of the phone to take proper 3D photos. It makes perfect sense so that all of your photos & videos are true 3D to be enjoyed on all future generations of Vision headsets. It would be great to build a library of 3D photos & videos *now*, because reliving them in the future will be more emotionally powerful in 3D. (It’s kind of like when Apple introduced 4K video recording a while ago, even when many people didn’t yet own 4K TVs or 4K Apple TVs. When you build your personal library at a higher quality, you will eventually appreciate your precious memories when you have improved tech.)
I believe Apple might have already have plan for that. They could probably make use of the LiDAR or true depth sensor to achieve similar of kind 3D effect. With icloud photo sharing, the photos/videos you taken in other devices, I am sure it will be accessible by the headset as well.

Based on the handful of reviews and podcasts I've now heard about the Vision Pro, setting aside the price, it really does sound amazing. It also sounds like something you can't "unexperience" (if that makes sense) once you've tried it if you have any history at all with other headsets. Btw, that light meter example was exactly what I thought of as an app you almost never use but is so handy when you need it.
@@dragonite4242 exactly. At least with call screen you can deal with spam a lot easier. And I don't remember the last time I got a voicemail from a family member.
Fully agree about the birthday cake scene. But I think 3D live portrait photos will be awesome. And if the point of posing is for taking the picture, taking the picture doesn’t ruin the moment.
The call screening feature on the Pixel is *the* reason why I haven't switched to a different line of phones. It is the perfect tool for any time when you are receiving a call from a phone number you don't recognize. It has virtually eliminated spam phone calls for me.
I think one big thing to note about the vision pro is that a majority of the vr market is gamers. They say in this episode a lot of people don’t want to be completely immersed all the time cuz it’s “scary” but if you look at the actually passionate vr community being fully immersed is actually the most desired thing above all else. Being in a different world is really the entire point. Other than just crazy rich people with money to burn, the only people that will buy this are crazy passionate enthusiasts gamers who are actually willing to pay 3,500 hundred even if they shouldn’t. The problem with this is clearly that the headset appears to be targeted as a productivity and content machine ONLY which just isn’t what people want, except maybe for movies. For some perspective if you aren’t in this space at all, there are people who only play vr chat that have probably spent about 3,500 on a high spec pc, valve index, full body tracking, custom avatars, and haptic suits. Again, just to be as fully immersed in vr chat as possible. Since the apple headset can theoretically do all of that (except haptics) for the same ish price it’s really not that crazy. Another problem arises with that though, with no controller there’s no gaming… YET!!! I think a lot of gamers will see that it doesn’t come with controllers and immediately write it off as not a gaming machine and not worth even looking at. This is true right now, but I really think all it will take is ONE truly good game that works with just hand tracking and everyone will immediately realize that’s actually so much superior for gaming. If you think about it, with the current state of controllers, they are simultaneously the most essential AND the most immersion breaking part of vr games, simply because of walking and having to press buttons to interact. If you’ve never played a vr game you may not understand this, but just imagine a vr game where the only interaction with the world was actually just grabbing the objects and using them exactly how you would in real life. That is peak immersion. Admittedly I don’t know how you solve walking without a treadmill, maybe just a walking motion like swaying your arms but I can see problems with that. For a first example I think a game like fnaf or a puzzle game where you just don’t need to move is good enough. There are games like that currently but the hand tracking just isn’t good enough yet to actually get immersed. Also they feel more like tech demos than actual games. So basically, if any developers are out there reading this, PLEASE make that a reality!!! I truly think the fate of the entire xr industry depends on whether a genuinely good hand tracked game comes out on this headset within the first year or so.
Please give more attention to the game feature and the metal translation layer. It is based on Open source code developed by crossover and wine. It is actually the system used by the Steam deck, proton is wine tweaked for games. The big catch in Apple translation layer is that they can now use direct x12, which enables the possibility of playing these newer titles. That's an awesome feature, that I think not many people are not aware
When we were kids... they told us not to sit too close to the TV... now the screens are right up there next to our eyes... WTH Weird and scary Doesn't anyone learn from movies such as Wall-E or Ready Player One?!
I say the following as an Android/Windows user: Some people don't seem to understand that Apple Vision Pro is more than "just a headset". It's a WEARABLE MACBOOK with desktop performance that can replace a laptop for many if not most people. You don't need an iPhone, iPad, or Macbook to use it. You can connect a Bluetooth keyboard and browse the web, etc. By comparison, the Meta Quest Pro is more like a WEARABLE CHROMEBOOK. Obviously this product isn't targeted at average consumers (hence the price) BUT society in general has demonstrated for decades that they are willing to pay a premium for entertainment especially if it's life-changing or impactful. The people who are complaining about the price are NOT the target audience for this headset and they were never planning on buying it to begin with so why complain?? Because they're miserable in life and just want something new to complain about? 😑 One's enjoyment of a product should be based on the experience it provides and NOT the price one paid for it. If you got this headset for free then chances are you would be praising how awesome it is and/or that it has transformed the way you consume entertainment. If Apple suddenly told you to pay $3,500+Tax for it then suddenly it's not worth it?? 😂😂😂 Also keep in mind that it's a one-time fee and not some recurring monthly service that you keep paying for like Netflix, Game Pass, Spotify, or access to use the heated car seats on a BMW car, etc. If people can waste money on a daily $7-$8 Starbucks coffee 5 days a week or $15 cocktails at a bar, they can instead save that money and put it towards something more expensive that they want that lasts way longer like a $400 PS5 or a $2,500 QD-OLED TV or whatever they want no matter the price. Just saying...
I thought the price was a little high but realized I can start saving up for it right now and, when it comes out, it’s not going to break my wallet at all.
I think the 3D immersive video would be perfect if it came to iphone. We already have multiple lenses and radar too. I think this would be more socially acceptable than wearing the headset to take pics.
Great video, thanks for posting! I love that color and I can’t wait to receive mine soon! Did you get the wobbly situation sorted out? I’m concerned about that. Otherwise, the whole package looks solid!
I kinda like the record feature ngl. In today's world, the dad just holds the mobile camera in his hand without being in the moment. But with the headset, he could just turn on record and focus on the moment.
@@RoyRosales hopefully a time will come when having the headgear on is not considered wierd. Like people today walk around with their headphones on though people from just 30 years before would have thought it looks wierd.
I saw the camera/birthday party part as the same thing as getting your camera out and taking a picture or taking a video. Doesnt feel like they intend for anyone to just hangout with it on at special occasions, but more like "Oh hey, let me take a video of you real quick" *Pops on Vision* *Takes it off* *Done* . Feels exactly like when your parent used to ask you to wait so they could get their camera out and take a video.
Personally these guys are so far removed from the first consumer video recorders. They were big and blocked your face. Plenty of people enjoyed making the movies, sharing them and reliving moments it became as thing. Now it’s small enough to fit on our phones.
There's this company in NYC/SanFran WHOS NAME IS SPATIAL and has been pioneering Spatial computing for the last 7 years. (I work for them) And we've been doing so much of what Apple showed in their keynote for YEARS.
honestly, I love the recording feature of the vision pro. In the near future, I guess this will be so accepted that people without a headset in an occasion will be socially outcasted. Also, its not that far from a person holding a DSLR video camera nowadays. Just let someone else wear the headset and capture the video if you wanna be in the shot as well. But more honestly, it gives me flashback to the black mirror episode where you have a chip inside your brain that can rewind memories. This might be the start of that .
I think the vision pro battery is a special connector because the headset needs to know the charge left in the battery pack. So there’s data going through it too
Im honestly scared of a future that everyone is just on vr home all day but I think this will be as life changing as the iPhone, and will eventually be in everyone’s home just like an iPhone. iPhones were expensive at first but now everyone has one
The 3D memories chat is interesting because we already did this once... dad's of the 80's were walking around with hulking great shoulder mounted VHS cameras capturing special moments. People taking photos on an iPad?! They would never! People are willing to interrupt their norms if it offers up a new experience and opportunity to capture and relive something. We just need the iPhone 16/17 to feature a way to capture these things and then it's truly useful for regular use. Capture on the phone > upto iCloud > relive & have a dystopian cry in the headset.
Loving the thumbnail! Also totally excited for the update! And there is an Empire Game tomorrow! Hope to see it in person if work will allow. Thanks to the team and Marques for working so hard to get this content out for all us to experience WWDC vicariously. - Official Lauren Brown
Honestly, I think that the way that kids so quickly adapt to their environments, seeing their parent wearing a headset to record everything is not going to seem so odd. I think of it similar to when individual families started using camcorders to record birthdays and special events, etc. Remember: There was this giant hunk of metal held in front of the “squinting parent staring down a “tube,” usually a dad, but also possibly a mom, or any other parental identifier. And people got used to it. The public loved the memories they could re-experience from that recording - especially because the second display facing outwards (for Apple) shows where the recording eyes are landing. The people being recorded can know if they are in the visual narrative or not, and they can say, “hey XYZ record this”, “look over there”. So they can actually feel like they’re a part of this process. Whereas, before, it would have been hard to know what perspective the person recording would show in final film. So, even if at the time it seems disruptive, the headset (Apple’s and Others’) will likely be seen as just a more modern, immersive, recording device/experience - much like how Super8 and camcorders were. /end - Official Lauren Brown
The Apple Watch has sensors that can detect your fingers pinching together I wonder if they will be able to pull that response data to allow you to click without the cameras seeing or is the window big enough to not even worry about it? Maybe pulling the Apple Watch into view you can get a hologram type screen to interact with like we’re living Phil of the Future life.
Or they appreciate the tech involved (inb4 you start yammering on about all the other headsets). Just because YOU don't like something doesn't mean everyone else is obligated to have the same views lmao
About the scrolling on widgets: in stacks you already have to scroll, so they’d either have to 1) make swiping horizontally change dates for calendar, scroll through notes or shortcuts, etc, or 2) switch stacks to horizontal and allow vertical scrolling to scroll through items. It would be cool if you could stack the different widgets for a single app (ie different reminders lists, calendar list widget and calendar up next widget) and be able to swipe through the widgets of a single app horizontally while allowing vertical scrolling to switch the next apps widget. Like having calendar on top, swiping horizontally to switch between the up next widget and the list widget, then swiping up to switch to reminders widgets, and then swiping horizontally to go through different lists
Imagine the Vision Pro but with something integrated into it like Neuralink, where you could feel haptics and other physical things. It would be crazy if something like that could be made real eventually.
Imagine Neuralink APP gets launch at the same time it goes on sell next year!!! Besides that, Imagine using a drone going over the grand canyon and linked with Vision Pro !!! I feel some crazy killer apps will arrive next year that will blow our minds.
i thimk brain implants will be tbe eventual end of these wearables, it’ll be a permanent chip in your brain, connected to the internet, that gives you all of the same functionality
Is it good for $3500 though? Also, what’s it’s intended purpose even? PlayStation vr 2 got so much heat because they didn’t have enough games . The only thing it seems you can do his shuffle through it’s user interface and watch maybe a a 2 hr movie. Google’s cardboard box vr when they released it to android does the same thing for a free.
I think we disagree. When I see apples device, I see a phone for your eyes. Literally the iPhone. Meta isn’t focused on getting you to wear VR 24/7. It’s more about the experiences. I think apple was smart to throw all the tech in there and go hands free. But I can’t see a closed ecosystem being the holy grail. I’m not interested in a phone product built for my eyes. I was hoping for an all new type of experience.. but the most obvious solution is usually the one that gains a chunk of market share and apple is sticking to what’s familiar.
@@Keepitcivil_ And you think the FB option isn't a closed system either? I'd argue the eyes displaying outside itself of Apple Vision makes it much more of "social" experience than Meta's. I get that it looks "creepy," but at least it indicates to the outside world of "awareness" of the user - something that's completely blank from the Meta option (as well as everyone else). Also, Meta has still yet to show how it shares "outside" with "inside" in terms of awareness - something that Apple has made attempts in doing that no one else in the space has. Again, I sorta "get" why you think Meta is more "social," but considering their moves - it's completely made things more distant between humans than Apple has. I actually think Apple has completely "outdone" Meta.

Could that be used to run PCVR games on the Vision Pro?
When we were kids... they told us not to sit too close to the TV... now the screens are right up there next to our eyes... WTH
Weird and scary
Doesn't anyone learn from movies such as Wall-E or Ready Player One?!
I say the following as an Android/Windows user:
Some people don't seem to understand that Apple Vision Pro is more than "just a headset".
One's enjoyment of a product should be based on the experience it provides and NOT the price one paid for it.
If you got this headset for free then chances are you would be praising how awesome it is and/or that it has transformed the way you consume entertainment.
If Apple suddenly told you to pay $3,500+Tax for it then suddenly it's not worth it?? 😂😂😂
Also keep in mind that it's a one-time fee and not some recurring monthly service that you keep paying for like Netflix, Game Pass, Spotify, or access to use the heated car seats on a BMW car, etc.
I heard that you need to use an iPhone to setup the headset.
I love what you all do and thank you so dang much for all the awesome content.
The entire Studio will be using Vision within 2 years, I'm calling it now.
plz don't wish this on us

This daily walk is about to be PERFECT 👌🏼
All I wanted for ipadOS was being able to format external drives in files
The thumbnail is fire.
Edit: Bro, 💀 I can’t stop laughing.
Great podcast
Would love these close to 2 hours every week. That would be awesome!
I think the 3D immersive video would be perfect if it came to iphone. We already have multiple lenses and radar too. I think this would be more socially acceptable than wearing the headset to take pics.
Yap, so true!
I think the LiDAR would need to be higher resolution or possibly need a second camera distanced apart in a stereo pair, or both.
Great video, thanks for posting! I love that color and I can’t wait to receive mine soon! Did you get the wobbly situation sorted out? I’m concerned about that. Otherwise, the whole package looks solid!
19:20 The Dashboard was what Marques talking about, remember that so well, you even have Dashcode of Xcode for coding those widgets
And I think David was talking about mission control when he said control centre.
Widgets. A small step. iOS/iPadOS where widgets are to display information and Android where widgets can be used to do nactual work.
I kinda like the record feature ngl. In today's world, the dad just holds the mobile camera in his hand without being in the moment. But with the headset, he could just turn on record and focus on the moment.
Gotta be weird to the rest of the fam, butttt yeah you have a point for sure.
@@RoyRosalesthe fact that they can all also watch now watch the moment the way he does will counter that
Or you can record a moment with your phone but actually look at the moment without staring at your phone while you are recording
Keep going, we need the competition. Can't let Apple control the industry. Or the other tech giants.
Surprised Spatial is not suing Apple
Yeah! How does this work?? If you release your product now, won't Apple sue you for it?
Also, does this company make software or hardware??
@@subodhgarg5531 yeah, I'm try to figure out how they put +5000 patents in it if VR has been worked on for so long.

1:06:21 Apple Vision Pro conversation. 👍
I subscribed for the podcast episode with the doctor! Seems extremely interesting.
honestly, I love the recording feature of the vision pro.
Watching this after solely listening to the podcast and I’m realizing how much I’m missing by just listening to this
I think the vision pro battery is a special connector because the headset needs to know the charge left in the battery pack. So there’s data going through it too
That thumbnail! 😂
I can start seeing the memes already. 😂… if they’re all ready going. 😅
Im honestly scared of a future that everyone is just on vr home all day but I think this will be as life changing as the iPhone, and will eventually be in everyone’s home just like an iPhone. iPhones were expensive at first but now everyone has one
Love this podcast, glad I found it recently
Throw widgets around the screen wherever with Sonoma. Imagine being able to put app icons wherever you want on your iPhone.
Capture on the phone > upto iCloud > relive & have a dystopian cry in the headset.
iPhone should have 2 separated cameras for 3d 180 videos
Loving the thumbnail! Also totally excited for the update! And there is an Empire Game tomorrow! Hope to see it in person if work will allow. Thanks to the team and Marques for working so hard to get this content out for all us to experience WWDC vicariously.

I think you're right tho
This is a ducking good episode
The Apple Watch has sensors that can detect your fingers pinching together I wonder if they will be able to pull that response data to allow you to click without the cameras seeing or is the window big enough to not even worry about it? Maybe pulling the Apple Watch into view you can get a hologram type screen to interact with like we’re living Phil of the Future life.
Great point!
Actually you bringing up the watch makes me think that that's where they could put the haptics

Oh, the poor souls! They're nothing but a bunch of Apple fanatics, locked in their allegiance
It would be crazy if something like that could be made real eventually.
maybe thats why elon musk was at apple park 🧐
Imagine Neuralink APP gets launch at the same time it goes on sell next year!!! Besides that, Imagine using a drone going over the grand canyon and linked with Vision Pro !!! I feel some crazy killer apps will arrive next year that will blow our minds.
i thimk brain implants will be tbe eventual end of these wearables, it’ll be a permanent chip in your brain, connected to the internet, that gives you all of the same functionality

1:26:28 Good to know the pass through really is that good, that’s what’ll make or break this for mainstream users. So excited to try it.
Apple is trying really hard to get influencers to push this vr headset.
Apple products push themselves! I’ve seen so many people not even into tech talking about this it’s crazy!
Or maybe it’s actually good?
Is it good for $3500 though?
Also, what’s it’s intended purpose even? PlayStation vr 2 got so much heat because they didn’t have enough games . The only thing it seems you can do his shuffle through it’s user interface and watch maybe a a 2 hr movie. Google’s cardboard box vr when they released it to android does the same thing for a free.

Meta is trying to make people social. Apple is looking to isolate people. Very interesting routes they’re both taking.
I’d argue the exact opposite. It seems like meta is trying to be more social, but their options actually distances people from each other.
and metas metaverse is dying, good luck trying with a shitty headset lol
I think we disagree. When I see apples device, I see a phone for your eyes. Literally the iPhone. Meta isn’t focused on getting you to wear VR 24/7. It’s more about the experiences. I think apple was smart to throw all the tech in there and go hands free. But I can’t see a closed ecosystem being the holy grail. I’m not interested in a phone product built for my eyes. I was hoping for an all new type of experience.. but the most obvious solution is usually the one that gains a chunk of market share and apple is sticking to what’s familiar.
How is Meta's offering more social than the Vision Pro?
What a great pod. Andrew had me at “it was lit” 😂
