      I agree with this! One of my main touring guitars is a Schecter Nick Johnston model, the Diamond Series one which retails in the UK around the £700 mark. It's super reliable and dependable and sounds great every night! Schecter are absolutely crushing it in that mid-tier guitar range right now!

    That Wenge looks glourious! A lot of luthiers say that Wenge have quite a pungent smell could you perceive it?

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey man,
      I don't recall it having much of a small. It probably has a specific smell as it's being worked, cut and shaped, but once the wood is treated and sent off to be added to the guitar I imagine the smell has gone.

    I'm a proud and happy owner of a Left handed Sun Valley Super Shredder Exotic Black Limba with the USA Pasadena and Sunset Strip Pickups. I love it, and it is a fun guitar to play. It's also a gorgeous looking and feeling guitar for the relatively low cost compared to something comparable from the Fender Custom Shop without breaking the bank. I can't believe I've overlooked Schecter most my life, and now I have what is one of my better Guitars.

    • @bakarenibsheut12
      @bakarenibsheut12 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, I'm considering buying one of the left handed ones as well, but I'm a bit concerned about the weight. How heavy is your guitar, and does it bother you while playing standing up?

    • @Strato13
      @Strato13 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@bakarenibsheut12 It's not a heavy guitar, and I can play it comfortably standing up.
      It isn't heavy like a LP. In fact my 1975 Fender Stratocaster is a bit heavier.
      Just to add, once you get a feel for the extra jumbo frets, and easy access to the 24th fret, you'll never find a better neck. Not sure if you are familiar with Chimp Spanner, but I can see why he went from Ibanez to Schecter.
      If you do get one, enjoy!

    Such a great looking and playing crafted guitar! Looks very fun to play! Killed the 80's metal shred rocking tones for sure! How much oomph is there in the pickups do they sound like anything a super distortion or S.D. JB4 ? The saturation sounded really good and most of the ones i've heard do just wondering if it's any youtube compression or if these things can chug too! ?:)

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are fantastic guitars! The pickups are hot... but not SUPER hot. They're probably close to a Super Distortion... they have that sorta overwound PAF vibe. They definitely have a vintage edge with some bite... I reckon they can chug!!

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey, thanks for checking out the video and leaving a comment! I appreciate that.
      It's a good question, but I'm not sure on the answer. I haven't played an Ibanez Prestige RG for quite sometime. Both are great guitars. The Ibanez would certainly have a slimmer neck, it's designed to be a speedy, smooth guitar. The Schecter doesn't have a fat neck, but it's (to my memory) thicker than the Ibanez style necks which I prefer.

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah man, they definitely went with more of the vintage hot rod vibe for the pickups. They told me that the guitar is based around the early 80s Schecters which came out of their Hot Rod shop in LA, so I guess at that time a lot of the pickups they might have sourced on the second hand market would've been things like old PAFs and 70s humbuckers so I guess making these a little more PAF like made sense for that era of sound.

    How does the neck shape/feel compare to Charvel Pro-Mod DK24? Not sure if anyone tried both guitars... keen to find out, thanks

    • @LeighFugeGuitar
      @LeighFugeGuitar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question... I played a DK24 recently for the first time and my first impression was that the neck was VERY thin. Perhaps a little too thin for my personal tastes. The Schecter had a pretty slim neck, but it didn't feel too uncomfortable for me.
      Not that the DK24 was uncomfortable... it's a killer guitar, but I did feel the neck may be slightly too thin for something I'd gravitate towards. The Schecter on the other hand felt great to me.
      Not sure if you've tried any of the Schecter Nick Johnston models, but it's a very similar neck feel.

    Finally a proper demo without those nonsense levels of muffled gain. I dig this, the Sunset Strip sounds cutting without lacking balls (like some modern high output pickups do nowadays, just sterile ball-less djenticulate crap). Really reminds of some 80s pickup, ballsy, articulate but with some breath and not overly compressed. What do you think?

      @LeighFugeGuitar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you man! I really appreciate you checking out the video and taking the time to comment.
      As you probably guessed by my playing style I’m certainly not a high gain or Djent player haha! I’m a blues rock and 80s hair metal guy so the 80s vibe here really interested me. Especially with one of the pickups being called the Sunset Strip!
      I really liked this guitar, it was a really fun one to demo. You’re right in what you’re saying, the pickups are really full sounding but still super clear and you can really hear the pick attack!
