So proud of myself! I’m never on the vanguard of the Chycho feed, but I’m catching this hot off the press. Glad you’re feeling better, fun to see all the new editions to the archive!
haha... indeed! I was very happy to get it, and in general, many Golden Age books have some of the best covers in history, just one reason that some are very sought after, especially the horror and jungle/bondage books.
Another awesome video. Love that return of Gorgo, I'm trying to collecting all of the Gorgo issues. Konga is another favorite of mine that Charleton did.
Love both Gorgo and Konga and I try and grab any that come my way. I ended up buying about 4 or 5 of them in one of the previous hauls I got from this seller. I also shared a childhood story about these books in the video: th-cam.com/video/8U3cPNjF9I0/w-d-xo.htmlh21m38s (video starts at around 1:21:38) ... you might get a kick out of it being a Konga fan ;)
Thank you, Mr Majki, it's easy for me to do sharing what I love... and thank you for watching, very happy to share these books, the odds are that we'll probably end up reading a couple of them in the future :)
Ahhh amazing - almost two hours of pure bliss! I love these videos - always look forward to seeing these pop up on my subscription list. Thanks so much :)
I can't wait for your comic readings. I've been anticipating gi Joe #1 ever since you listened to my recommendation about a year ago. Your voice is just so soothing
I've been dying to read it as well and it's definitely going to be one of the first books we read in the next round. I've actually been trying to get my hands on issues #21 as well, the silent issue, but the price just keeps on getting away from me. Thank you for putting them on my radar :) By the way, my estimate is that I'll get back to the readings towards the end of November, just need to get a few other videos done on my to do list before diving into comic book reads again. Apologies about taking so long with these.
I just went to my comic book store and picked up a random sleeve and it was full of Tarzan haha also the silver surfer. I’d never heard of him until I got that sleeve. Green lantern really got me into comics, the art, story that’s sorta political in nature during sinestro wars. Ahhh I just love it. Another great video 👍
Hello chycho, another great video my friend. Many thanks. Do you have a complete catalogue of all your comics on a spreadsheet or database? If not, is this something that you would like to do in the future or do you have too many lol. Stu.
Man, I wish I did, Stu, but I don't. Some day maybe but that will require a few weeks off :) As for the spreadsheets, I've just basically put these together as a primer, once we start the series Mathematics of Investing, we're going to use some of this data and some of the data from previous and future comic book hauls to learn the ins and outs of investing, specifically looking at ratios and graphs and interpreting them. Thought it would be a fun way to learn some economics.
Just a few weeks huh :) I only own a short box full of comics and have only been collecting for a short while so nowhere near your level but I have been keeping a record of all my purchases in a spreadsheet. Mainly to keep track of what I have spent and working out price per comic including and excluding delivery or price per comic if I have purchased a lot etc etc. But since watching this video and seeing the spreadsheets I think I'm going to add a few more columns :) So easy to get carried away adding columns and doing formulas :) Out of interest, do you have your comic collection insured? Stu.
lol... yup, it can definitely get out of hand, that's for sure. Awesome about what you're doing, keeping track of it all. Will be super cool to see where it's at in a couple of years time. Hopefully by then we'll have added even more columns to the spreadsheet :)) As for insurance for the comics, there are multiple protection mechanisms in place, volume and nothing being organized being two of them, so unless some major disaster hits, I sleep well at night.
No worries, Jason. Grading comics, or anything else for that matter, is basically rating it based on its condition. Usually a zero to ten rating scale is used, with anything close to zero being in poor condition and anything close to 10 being in pristine condition. For comic books they also associate words for the different ratings. For example, a 6.0 is referred to as Fine (FN). An 8.0 as Very Fine (VF). You can find some nice intro info on grading here: www.mycomicshop.com/help/grading
Hey Chycho, I'm completely new to comic books but I'm really keen to start reading. What would you say is a good entry point? The comic book world is so vast and diverse, it can be a little bit overwhelming for a newcomer. Any advice would be appreciated :) cheers!
Hi Luca, I'd be happy to recommend you some books, one thing I do need to know though, what type of stories do you like? You can think of comic books as TV shows, or movies, or straight out story books. As you said, there are many to choose from so knowing your personal preference might help in recommending certain reads. That said, here is a list of books I've provided on my About Page to give people an idea of what's out there - here is the link as well which in tern provides links to descriptions of what these stories are about (go to the "Comics and Graphic Novels" section) : chycho.blogspot.ca/2010/07/welcome-to-chychoblogspotcom-restoring.html#comics: DMZ “Transmetropolitan” by Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson "Bone" by Jeff Smith “The Walking Dead” by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore “Joker” by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo “Preacher” by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon “Batman: Arkham Asylum” by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean Hellblazer "Three Shadows" by Cyril Pedrosa "Calvin and Hobbes" by Bill Watterson "MBQ" by Felipe Smith "The Sandman" written by Neil Gaiman "Akira" by Katsuhiro Otomo "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller "Batman: The Dark Knight Strikes Again" by Frank Miller "Epicurus the Sage" by William Messner-Loebs and Sam Kieth "Marvel 1602" by Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert "Lone Wolf and Cub" by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima “Abraxas and the Earthman” by Rick Veitch “Ordinary Victories” by Manu Larcenet Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol “Cerebus” by Dave Sim The Savage Sword of Conan Lobo: The Last Czarnian Unity and Pre-Unity Valiant comics Valiant comics since the relaunch in 2012 “Batman: Year 100” by Paul Pope and José Villarrubia Matt Wagner's Grendel Sergio Aragones' Groo: “Death and Taxes” The Books of Magic (mini-series) Tekkon Kinkreet Hard Boiled
Wow , thanks chycho! I’m going to start working through this list :) I’m really into sci-fi which is why comic books have started to appeal to me, seems like a fantastic medium.
If you like sci-fi then maybe look into the following first: 1) X-O Manowar from Valiant... the new series is about 8 issues deep. 2) Divinity I, II, and III from Valiant.... 3 mini-series with 4 issues each = 12 issues... they are actually releasing a hardcover omnibus version that includes all 12 issues soon and you can pre order it and it's on sale (I actually just ordered mine a few days ago) 3) Seven to Eternity from Image comics 4) Saga from Image comics Pretty sure those would be your best bets for recent sci-fi reads. Also in the above list “Transmetropolitan” by Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson ... is a more of a futurist dystopian story. Fantastic read but no space travel.
Indeed, love Blade and I was lucky enough to buy a huge Tomb of Dracula run way back in the early 90's and those books have stayed with me ever since :)
So proud of myself! I’m never on the vanguard of the Chycho feed, but I’m catching this hot off the press. Glad you’re feeling better, fun to see all the new editions to the archive!
Thanks, brother, definitely made me feel better pulling them all out :)
That serpent cover Tales of Horror is RADICAL!
haha... indeed! I was very happy to get it, and in general, many Golden Age books have some of the best covers in history, just one reason that some are very sought after, especially the horror and jungle/bondage books.

i cant wait to move canada to collect and read comics :D (here on aruba in the caribbean sea, comics are scarse and not a big collective items)
You are such a joy to watch and listen, your face speaks for itself, so much happines and honesty! Great videos and keep em coming! (:
Thank you, Mr Majki, it's easy for me to do sharing what I love... and thank you for watching, very happy to share these books, the odds are that we'll probably end up reading a couple of them in the future :)
Love your comic book haul and collection videos Chycho, absolutely brilliant, keep uploading!
Thanks, brother, will do :))
Ahhh amazing - almost two hours of pure bliss! I love these videos - always look forward to seeing these pop up on my subscription list. Thanks so much :)

Hey man, was super excited to see this video posted. Comic book hauls are definitely my favorite videos of your's. Thanks for doing what you're doing.
My pleasure, 99, as you know I love making these comic haul vids so I'm pretty sure i'll be making these for a long time to come yet... fun fun :)
Yes! My personal favourite out of the types of videos you make, they are all excellent but comic book hauls are awesome. Thanks!
:)
I've never seen someone so happy to see blaxploitation ;)
Your voice is absolutely relaxing! Thanks for all these little gifts. :-)
My pleasure, thank you for the love and thank you for watching. Peace :)
chyco, you probably corrected this but on your spreadsheet Tales To Astonish #84 is listed as cover price $0.01 ~ Some nice books here! Great haul!!
Oh man! Thank you, Eddie. I hadn't caught that mistake yet. It's now been corrected, much appreciate it :)
What a great office space.
A two hour comic haul video : )

Alright! Delivered as promised 😁Thanks Chycho!
My pleasure, brother :)
Well done my friend this was a great video keep it up great work
You always find such good deals!
Not always, but I do try to... and keep in mind that i've missed the boat on some books as well, in general though, patience is a virtue :)
chycho Indeed. Patience is key. Sometimes there is luck. Once I found Deadpool's first appearance bagged and boarded in a thrift store for $2!
Oh WOW! Now that is an amazing buy :)
