This is basically similar to what I did to learn English. School wasn't that useful for me, because I was one of those people that always forget everything after an exam lol, and the fact that it was so different from my first language (Italian) made me kind of not really care about it. But after discovering that some fandoms that interested me had lots of videos in English, I threw myself on them. And when I discovered Discord, I started to use it too to help myself with the language and find more people to chat with that share my interests. It's funny because it's been just a few months from when I started actually practicing with English, and while I don't consider myself fluent with it, I consider myself good enough to make a conversation.
That grammar, spelling, everything was perfect! Good job! (Cause we over here in the US are mostly not learning other languages lol [other than Spanish sometimes])

@alexandrert8252 Dang it, I can only understand half of that XD "It's difficult to learn Spanish Because [something something] what you say, they have [something] definition" Or something like that. XD I'll have to look up the song later!
@@alexandrert8252 Just looked up this song and yeah, it's so true. I'm attempting to study Mexican Spanish specifically, but find it difficult as so much is in Castilian and I hate it. I can't imagine someone trying to learn a dialect of Spanish from a smaller country, there's probably even less resources. Or even worse, someone not making the distinction and learning from whatever Spanish resources they come across.
It's fun hearing you describe your language journey . ...und was dir die deustchen Sprache beigebracht hat. American, here. I spent an exchange student year in Germany way back in 1985! Vernacular has changed since then. I notice now that informal "du" in conversation seems far more common now than then, and I find myself full of questions about that. Maybe that is different online "gegenüber" in person? I don't know, but we never had internet back then, let alone You Tube, which is my absolute favorite thing about the internet. There are seemingly endless You Tubers available, both to teach nuts and bolts language structure, vocabularly, colloquialisms, dialogue, etc., AND cultural and linguistic trivia to inspire us to want to learn. Thanks for doing your part!
Very interesting to see how you practise your german. I didn't know about your german channel and as a native german speaker I think that your pronunciation is really good, you should keep going.
Its really great that you are actually putting in the effort. So many people these days, just come here, not even caring about learning German. Which brings a lot of complicated situations with it. For instance: My mom used to work as a parametic and so often she had people, not being able to tell her whats wrong, if they have any pain or something. So, congrats and thank you that you are doing your best. ^^BTW: Could you link your german channel? I would like to check it out
One of the biggest things that helped me get better at english is starting to think exclusively in it. You need to be at a certain level to not just end up teaching yourself broken sentences but I think you've more than passed that level. It also makes you constantly warmed up in the language, now it takes me a while to go back to my native language.

Klar, du klingst nicht wie ein Muttersprachler, aber dein Deutsch ist um einiges besser als das von einigen meiner Kollegen, und die sind teils schon echt lange in Deutschland. Gute Arbeit!
I learned German for four years back in high school - I was pretty good at it, winning the school prize two years in a row for my efforts, but I have forgotten a great deal since I left. I get what you mean about listening to music to help learn - I still know enough German to notice the major differences between the English and German versions of the 80's Nena song "99 Luftballons". Oh, and the German version is far, far superior! Tolles Video, danke!

love the avatar. I learned English by being on the internet and watching shows with English subtitles. I started with Japanese Animes with Eng subs, was rough especially Neon Genesis Evangelion. But since then I improved my english by miles. Never study the language formally again! If you want to speak perfect German some day, learn it naturally like you described. Learning vocabulary from the context instead of opening up the dictonary is THE way to go.
I am a native speaker of French and Polish. I learned English 2-3 years after French and I am currently learning Dutch. My knowledge about this language getting bigger. Hope y’all are going to learn a lot of languages, it’s practical in life! 🇵🇱🇧🇪🇬🇧🇳🇱
My old English teacher at the university gave us a good tip. He said "Read Harry Potter in English" because Book 1 is written with a Level of Understanding for 7 year old and each book increases in difficulty until the final Book 7 which is written with a Level of understanding for 14 to 16 year old Kids. So the language grew with the children who read this series of books for the first time. it also works in reverse. :) Start reading Harry Potter's Philosopher's Stone in German. The sentence structure is suitable for 7-year-old children in Germany. So you can gradually internalize the language with the books, just like I improved English, you can also do it with German :)
@@Raptus_Gaming It helps if you know at least five thousand words in the language to start with! Bear in mind a seven year old kid has had seven years of exposure to the language.😀
@@Raptus_Gaming Of course, it requires basic knowledge of the language - a 7 year old child can already speak the language when he starts reading. So you need basic knowledge of the target language, e.g. a basics course. If you want to learn the language from 0 with the books, you need volume 1 for your native language and 1 time for the target language. This way you can read words that you didn't understand. However, it then takes a very long time. The books are more about getting better at a language in which you already have prior knowledge.

Eigentlich ist das der einfachste Weg.
@@georgmeinecke5370sehr true
Hallo fello deutsch
how i learned english: im engl- wait no im not?
Same
This is basically similar to what I did to learn English.
@@hyzmarie Thank you so much!!!
Same i just played minecraft so english was easy i prob use it as much as my 1st laungage, but german is hard cus what interesting is in german? Also they speak stupid fast
Wow, you're amazing!
@@NightTimeDay Thanks :D
It's say amazing is a bit too much though lol
I've been learning a lot of Spanish lately to help me connect to my Peruvian roots (I'm 1/4 Peruvian, in case you were curious!), and it's been a lot of fun adding words to my Spanish vocabulary! Hopefully I can add some of your advice to my personal curriculum! :)
Just remember
Es difícil aprender el español
Porque todo lo que dices tiene otra definición
(that is a real song btw)
@alexandrert8252 Dang it, I can only understand half of that XD
"It's difficult to learn Spanish
Because [something something] what you say, they have [something] definition"
Or something like that. XD
I'll have to look up the song later!
@@WinglessMoonstone "it's difficult to learn Spanish because everything you say has a different meaning"
@@alexandrert8252 Ayyy I got pretty close! :D
Funny. Your channel literally taught me more English than school did. Thank you :D
Very interesting to see how you practise your german. I didn't know about your german channel and as a native german speaker I think that your pronunciation is really good, you should keep going.
I heard a tip where you take sticky notes and write the name of every items and stick it to the items around your home.
0:21 U said that in such a great german accent
Its really great that you are actually putting in the effort. So many people these days, just come here, not even caring about learning German. Which brings a lot of complicated situations with it. For instance: My mom used to work as a parametic and so often she had people, not being able to tell her whats wrong, if they have any pain or something.
So, congrats and thank you that you are doing your best. ^^BTW: Could you link your german channel? I would like to check it out
I have been learning 4 languages since I was 14, and I still haven't found a secret trick except writing till your fingers hurt

One of the biggest things that helped me get better at english is starting to think exclusively in it. You need to be at a certain level to not just end up teaching yourself broken sentences but I think you've more than passed that level. It also makes you constantly warmed up in the language, now it takes me a while to go back to my native language.
ive been learning spanish for a while but speaking it is definitely difficult for me--i do the same thing where im mentally translating sentence by sentence and take too long to process what im saying and what is being said..
i see you were also a former warrior cats enthusiast... :3
For me I have to structure the sentence in my brain before saying, if I don't I just stutter and keep saying "uuunnnnn"
I used to do german duolingo lessons until i lost my streak and gave up. I'm actually a current warrior cats fan, I've slightly forgotten some of the books and REALLY need to catch up on them.
Fun words are: Rindfleischetikettierungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz and Donaudampfschifffahrtselektrizitätenhauptbetriebswerkbauunterbeamtengesellschaft, and yes they are rea.
It's so cool hearing someone else learn a new language so different from English, I related a lot to this lol. Also I would enjoy more German videos since I'm not familiar with Germany and it's culture and it would be cool to hear from you
I really like your expreience with the german language and how you learn it. I've went to germany myself before but never actually learned the language but I'm willing to try now :D

Hello, I am also a fellow brit learning Deutsch. Having lots of fun learning alongside my entirely fluent German friend (who inspired me to learn) and I hope every other german speaker and learner enjoys the journey!
Ich spreche ein bissichen Deutsch, das ist sehr gut. Danke 💖

I did german before GCSEs in highschool, but my grades were so low my head teacher didint let me do it as a GCSE, last year I decided that 3 years later I'd attempt duolingo, I'm now on a 300 day streak and very determined to keep going, now in Y13 I speak better German than most people I know who took the GCSE
Respekt, dass du dich nicht unterkriegen lässt 👍
@@SeriousAce2kXvielen dank :)
Witzig solche Videos anzuschauen :) NICE!
I think sneaking a bit of that language into your life day by day can help you learn a language faster than usual. That's what worked for me at least.

Also thanks for le information and experience. It helps a lot
The french jumpscare gave me war flashbacks….
(I am from Switzerland and was sadly forced to start learning French from when I was 10 to now…I still can’t speak French. Mostly because I hate it so much that my brain refuses to remember any of it.)

Gute Arbeit!

I DIDNT EVEN KNOW YOU SPOKE GERMAN 😭😭 im still learning too…
I learned German for four years back in high school - I was pretty good at it, winning the school prize two years in a row for my efforts, but I have forgotten a great deal since I left. I get what you mean about listening to music to help learn - I still know enough German to notice the major differences between the English and German versions of the 80's Nena song "99 Luftballons". Oh, and the German version is far, far superior! Tolles Video, danke!
Thank you very much :)

Every word is true. The encouragement is great and the pros and cons of embarking on learning are also encouraging because its all realistic. Especially learning the cusswords....which makes you sound very sure of yourself!

love the avatar.

No, all offense to the french language
Totally agree. I've got them all in French, German, Spanish and Italian and they are brilliant to learn another language.
I legit went and read the first paragraph in German and was completely lost 😆Die Woerter sind zu gross fuer mein Gehirn zu verstehen
