      I feel fortunate if that's the norm. My doctor said NO to every supplement I inquired about , ESPECIALLY in high doses but one, Vitamin D 3. I ignored his advice on omega fish oil and B 12. The fish oil wreaked havod on blood sugar levels and caused bed ridden fatigue for over a month. The B12 caused anxiety close to psychotic level for 10 days after the last dose. Average calcium dietary intake per day is 1210 mg per day for males, 947 mg per day for females age 20-39. It does drop a bit as we age, but taking 1000 mg per day is unnecessary. Men probably never need any, and older women could meet the DV by taking 200 mg / day.

    Dear Dr. Been, please allow me to make some remarks on the Coimbra Protocol(CP) and on the use of vitamin D to fight SARS Covid-19. Those are two different protocols and should not be mixed. The CP treats patients with autoimmune diseases, who generally have a polymorphism leading to a genetic resistance to vitamin D. Because those patients are genetically resistant, they are treated with much higher than normal doses. The doses are adjusted to each patient, considering parameters such as blood calcium, PTH levels and others. Those patients are also required to limit the ingestion of calcium-rich foods and to drink plenty of water, to prevent calcium-related problems. Now, when it comes to the SARS Covid-19, the supplementation of vitamin D addresses the widespread problem of vitamin D deficiency. The doses used to may seem very high, but are in line with the amount of vitamin D naturally produced by the skin, which is up to 20,000UI a day(depending on the sunlight spectrum, type of skin, age, etc.).

      @@rdiemidio65 Hi. D3 doesn't work well if a D3-deficient individual starts taking it to fight an infection that already happened. The liver might take up to 2 weeks to convert D3 into 25-OH-D3 and, after that time, the disease could have worsened a lot. D3 works wonderfully if taken, in right doses and for enough time, BEFORE the infection. If a person is already sick, a doctor can prescribe 25-OH-D3 (the semi-activated form of D3) or, even better, 1,25-OH2-D3, which is the active form of vitamin D3. This could well explain why some studied found D3 to be ineffective.

      Taking D and K2 you also need to take magnesium. Palpitations can be the result of D using up your available magnesium leaving you with a deficiency.

      The one nice thing about iu for Vitamin D3 is that the average blood level for a certain long-term dose is 10 ng/ml for 1000 iu. So it makes it very easy to tell what dose you want: 4000 iu for 40 ng/ml 6000 iu for 60 ng/ml

    • @TebTengri
      @TebTengri 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @keirfree senior yea but there is no "standard". 1 IU of HGH is different mg than 1IU of D3 different than 1IU of α-tocopherol and so forth.
      Maybe when we swapped from grains, drams, tablespoons and whatever else to metric it had a purpose. It's beyond stupid at this point.

By now everything should be labeled with mcg/mg with IU sometimes in parentheses. I have been studying nutritional research since 2002 and want to remind everybody that even though this is an excellent explanation that is very technical doctors who are normal MD's have usually one course in nutrition. It would depend on their age. By my extensive research and this pertains to me because I was diagnosed with osteoporosis a couple of years ago just starting that you must take your calcium supplement with the K2 with the vitamin d3 you can't get enough in your diet that's for sure even if you're eating whole foods. You must must take your calcium with magnesium in a 2:1 ratio normally with the vitamin d3 with the K2 in an acidic environment which means when you get up in the morning drink filtered water not tap water with a dash of lemon and a dash of apple cider vinegar with mother wait 15 minutes and then take the calcium magnesium etc complex mentioned here. Now I just switched from calcium tablets because they're made out of rocks so I went to a plant-based calcium magnesium formula because that's more absorbable. If you go through the different doctor recommended TH-cam videos and I mean doctors not just people telling you what they think you want to get out of the calcium that is coming from rocks because that's not going to do your body any good. What the doctor is saying about the danger of taking too much the wrong way has been explained by doctors like Dr Burke who's a chiropractor in again the people who have given the most insight correctly aside from this doctor are those who have an MD or a do after their name. I am very sincere about telling you about my own research in nutritional medicine. So to simplify when you get up in the morning take your filtered water such as from a zero filter water picture which you can buy at Walmart mix a dash of apple cider vinegar with mother with a dash of lemon and drink the calcium with the magnesium most of the time the ratio is two to one two more calcium to magnesium or equal amounts the K2 as recommended here with the d3 as recommended here. Remember that's with synthetic vitamins it is much better to go with whole food vitamins or herbal vitamins with these supplements then what you're going to get at CVS or at Kroger's. Those are synthetic. If you have a serious osteoporosis issue which I personally am dealing with because my family history I had to switch to whole foods everything and to the supplements mentioned here but again it took me a long time to find out about the calcium magnesium being drunk or taking in with the acidic environment. If you don't do this it doesn't work. And that's why some MDS who are holistic I shall find on TH-cam are telling you not to take calcium tablets at all. There is no way that anybody can get enough of their nutritional requirements just by food alone and that's even just eating whole foods you'd be eating way too much. This is an excellent video very technical which I am going to keep.

    I've been taking D3 (50,000 units) 2-3X per week along with K2 (600mcg every 3 days) since Feb. 2020. I started this with a Vit D level of 18 which was done by blood test in Jan. 2020. I am 56 y\o with no history of sickness or health issues since my teens. As of last week (12\3\2020), I had my blood tested and my Vit D level is @ 89 WITH NO SIGNS OF TOXICITY (my Calcium level is 9.6 mg\dl) OR ANY ADVERSE AFFECTS. I FEEL AWESOME ALL OF THE TIME! Super energy all the time with NO fatigue. My doc is not wholly on board since MOST people do not actively look to supplement this vitamin (really a hormone) to these levels, but the most recent studies PROVE AS A MATTER OF UNDISPUTED FACT, that by raising your levels to at least 50 ng\ml, your chances of catching, being hospitalized and or even dying from Covid (SARS, MERS etc.) are DRASTICALLY reduced to the point that it is just plain stupid for doctors not to be telling the world about this! THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT NEWS OF 2020 THAT YOU NEED TO HEAR! PLEASE, ... look into this. I TOLD YOU SO.........................................................................................

      @@sidmichael1158 You have to start off on a small amount, like 100mg once a day and gradually work your dosage up until you start feeling better. If you have too much magnesium in your system you will get diarrhea or very loose bowel movements, if you get to this point, cut back a little or take the magnesium every other day. Magnesium comes in several different forms, Magnesium Oxide is the one that causes most people to get diarrhea, I have chronic constipation no matter how much water I drink, I also have dry eyes, very little saliva, dry lips, and dry nasal passages and dry ears 😉 I believe this is all related somehow but doctors haven’t told me how. I take the Megamagnesium from Central Market for my body and the magnesium oxide for my bowel movements. If I forget to take my vitamins on any day, I at least take the magnesium oxide so I won’t be constipated the next day, yes, it’s that fast. Hope this helps, do your own research though because only you know your body best.

    I been given another possible reason modern people have lower levels of vitamin D. I've been told this by a number of sources and have no reason to believe it's not true. Along with lower levels of direct exposure to the sun, people no longer use lard for cooking. In the past pigs were raised outside in the sun. Pigs generally had very high levels of vitamin D. People don't usually cook with lard nowadays. Even if they do pigs are now raised inside factory farms and are every bit as deficient as the human population.

    First time on this site; vr interesting info. As a vegan and recovering alcoholic, sober 7 yrs ditto non processed plant based food, I reversed fatty liver and insulin resistance among many other things. I take B12, algae based Omega 3 and 2000 units vit D. Get iodine from Nori sheets and other sea vegetables. A brazil nut a day covers selenium. My mind is sharp, I get lots of exercise walking my dog so my sleep is always adequate my digestion is perfect. In my mid-60s my doctor would like me to take a high amount of calcium and as she has not been trained in the area of the microbiome and nutrient availability I do not follow her advice; 300 mg calcium citrate seems to be the right spot with the amount of calcium I absorb from the food I eat. This is anecdotal of course and this video does address maladies like Parkinson's etc. but I find the levels of supplementation extremely high. The other problem I have with supplementing is the lack of regulation by the FDA so you are essentially betting on the amount you are actually getting. Not a site I will follow, but appreciate the information disseminated here; was excellent.

    Over obsessing about health is a bad idea. Take 15 minutes of sunshine daily or 2000 IUs in winter. Above all keep your weight down with low carb diet. Exercise 20 mins per day. No smoking and limited drinking. Bob’s your uncle, you’ll be fine.

    When I was on Warfarin my coag nurse told me that eating green leafies was okay as long as I let her know what kind and the frequency. She never said anything about it causing blood clots. Furthermore, when I was switched to Eloquis, I was told that diet was no longer a consideration. If taking K2 supplements was an issue, I believe they would have warned me about that when I switched to Eloquis.

    Problem with Vitamin K2mk7 tablete form is that they can degrade very quickly and you end up with a small percentage. The 'wet' capsule form maintain levels longer. This has been tested. OR 100Gram of Natto contains 750mcg vitamin K2mk7 this has been researched analysed... as in Okinawa and probably explains their longevity. K2Mk7 has been shown in the research lab to protect against the degradation of elastin in artery walls.

    Very few doctors seem to be either knowledgeable or willing to talk about supplements. I assume it's because they can't write a prescription. There is a Lot of math to be done, like you were saying...height, weight or other factors in order to get the correct dosages. My Vit D has been low for several years...and I need help ! I found out I was low by myself from a chiropractor's office, after many doctors ran thousands of dollars of expensive and some invasive tests, but Never, Ever checked my Vit D. The primary doctor I've seen more recently has given me a prescription for D2 a couple of times but it doesn't last. And she has Never said anything about K2... Ever. A few years prior, I was told by a Dr. in integrative medicine that I have thick blood. I found and contacted her from out of town. I sent my labs and she ordered some saliva and urine testing, but because of the distance, she couldn't help me any further. And mentioning that to a cardiologist (not by an appointment) said I should have a proteins S and P checked. Going into a doctor's office and asking them to run tests...they won't do that. I'm concerned about taking Vit K. A lot of doctors don't like you to read, because you ask questions, and that takes their allotted minutes away from other patients. I have read a Lot. And try as I might, it is so difficult to put it together. I've lost muscle and bone which has affected my mobility. I feel and get around like someone 15 years older than what I am. That's the honest truth. Sorry for the length of this, but difficult to put it in a nutshell. Where do I find someone to help me ???

    15:50, you say "fat cells will act like a container or a depot to store this vitamin D...Then what happens is the liver on a daily basis is going to pull the required amount of vitamin D....So, if somebody has a lot of fat cells, then they will store more vitamin D in them, so their general requirement increases". The previous statement doesn't make sense to me. It's hard to think of an analogy to make my point, but if I were to increase the size of my gas tank in my car, would there be a general increase for fuel burned by my engine? No. My mileage would potentially go down slightly because of the extra weight the fuel would add to the car, but having a larger storage capacity doesn't significantly change my miles-per-gallon. Are you implying the extra energy used to carry around the extra fat cells will burn-up TWO to THEE times more vitamin D 16:39 ?

    • @DrBeenMedicalLectures
      @DrBeenMedicalLectures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good question. Fat cells themselves metabolize the vitamin D. Hence, the more fat cells means more vitamin D use in them other than storage. /oversimplification

    • @danielbruneau2222
      @danielbruneau2222 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The liver has a hard time pulling vitamin D from fat if the concentration of vitamin D in the fat is low.
      In the temperate and sub arctic areas of the world vitamin D is stored in the fat during the summer and fall historically over the winter and spring one would use up the fat thus getting some vitamin D. This would be essential for women to have healthy babies. In the modern world with the supplementation of year round food the vitamin stays in the fat and not available in the blood.
      Vitamin D does have a half life in the fat. If it is only stored it will degrade over time and be unavailable. Therefore if one is maintaining a steady weight over the winter one must either use supplements or use a UVB lamp (or go to the tropics for holidays).
      In practice one must either get their Vitamin D level tested or take sufficient supplementation. 5000IU costs 5 cents: no brainer.
