What a moving video and moving story Cory. It isn’t hard to see just how special Gracie is. And, it’s not hard to see the special bond between the two of you. Did you name her Gracie because of God’s grace? It would seem fitting because of the obvious relationship you have with Him! Anyone would be lucky to be called friend by you!

    What a wonderful story!
Sometimes things are just meant to be...
Whether it was fate, or God, something in the universe aligned for both of you...
And created a friendship of epic proportion...
What a beauty of a tale...
    Congratulations ...

We had two labs and I absolutely loved them. So loving, so easy to train, so smart. My hubby wasn't happy with our first as she chewed off the cable and propellers on his trolling motor, but other than that, both females were wonderful. Brought my slippers to me while waiting for me to come home from work each day. So, so many stories I could share. Your dog looks in wonderful health and she is so looking adoringly to you. Good luck.

Gracie is super special. You're lucky to have her as she is lucky to have you.
On 11/19/19 my dad passed away. On 12/19/19 my black lab Kodi passed away. On 1/19/19 I was blessed with a beautiful black lab puppy. I wasn't looking. I wasn't sure I was ready. I told my wife I missed Kodi badly and my wife's coworker had a friend with a litter. The last puppy of the litter and ready to go home now. My wife text me pictures of the puppy and I was pissed at first. Still grieving missing Kodi. But a hour later I was on the phone with the breeder. Lol. I've spent a lot of time with her the last 20 months. She has been such a blessing for me. ❤😊 and she loves antlers. 😉😊🦌🇺🇸

My first lab was a Chocolate. Great dog. I got him when I was in my young 30’s, no kids yet. Lived on a salt marsh at the time, and did a ton of training with him. Great dog. I currently have a black lab, he’s a good boy too, and aims to please. He could easily be as well trained if my plate wasn’t so full, but he’s a great family dog, and I hope to train him to hunt sheds soon.

I have a Labradoodle and she was born outside in a place called Mountain View,Alberta. She came from a litter of 15 which at the time was the largest litter in Alberta. I have COPD so I needed a dog with minimal shedding and I found it with my little one who I named Cindy after a friendly little girl who used to serve me coffee on my way to work.Research says that this type of dog only lives to around 10-12years but she fooled them as she will be 14 on the 14th of October. She's starting to slow down and sleeps a lot but we can have some brutal winters up here which worries me. But if its her time then so be it.I'm in my 70's but I have a friendly ex veterinarian tech who comes over trims her claws and basically gives her a spa day. I know that labs are smart but a friend who trains standard poodles told me that Cindy was one of the smartest dogs he had come across and like the old saying goes...you don't train dogs ...they train you.
As an old carpenter who likes what you do and wishes that I was still working, I thought I'd pass on a tip for you that my grandfather showed me. When you take up your handsaw ready to cut material try keeping your forefinger outside of the grip and rest it alongside the handle when cutting. It makes the cutting easier, at least it does for me. Good luck to you and Gracie ;-]

When I was a boy we had a lab/Shepard mix named Jake. He was always an off leash dog. He and I went to check bait traps near a busy road one day . To give him his freedom but keep him safe I tied a long lead to his collar. I made the mistake of crossing thin ice wearing old loose waiters. I went through the ice, he ran to shore and hooked himself around a tree till I was able to climb to shore up the rope. My wife and I named our son after him .

LOL yeah right "go look at puppies and not come home with one." This reminded me of when I got my first Black Lab "Roadie." My wife and I were on our way to the family camp in North Western NY to spend our vacation. I drove past a sign "Free" puppies. My wife made me turn around and go back. I said if I turn around we are going to have another dog no matter what breed it is are you sure you want me to turn around? I walked up to the crate with one pup left. A little rolly polly female English Black lab puppy. We scooped her up and drove up the driveway to make sure it was ok to take her home. The lady was just coming out of the house as we pulled up. After speaking with her, we found out she is a breeder of English Labs. Her momma escaped while in heat and was expecting soon after. The breeder could not guarantee pedigree of the litter so she gave the litter away w/o papers. We named her Roadie because that's where we found her a long side an NY country road. She wiggled her way into my heart. Anywhere I went she would be right there. She lived to be 13 years old. After her passing I had an empty hole in my heart and wanted to get another one right away but my wife just wanted to be a one dog family instead of a two large dog family. I had decided to up hold my wifes wishes and just be content with one dog. That coming Christmas my wife surprised me. She bought me another Labby puppy. She had arranged for us to pick her up a couple days after Christmas. The whole trip we were trying to come up with a names nothing seemed to feel right. We meet the breeder and walked into the house. The ladies son brought her out to me. She was the sweetest little thing. She snuggled right into my arms and put her head on my shoulder and looked into my eyes and it was love. I said to her your such a Dolly. I said that's it, her name is"Miss Dolly" She is 4 years old now. Smart as a whip and easy to train. Very food motivated. She loves her "Cookies" aka Milk Bones. Sorry for the long winded post. just thought I would share my story too.

You are so right about training the people and training the dogs, it’s the people that are messed up. Love your videos!

I've always said I'm not a dog person but after watching this I'm thinking maybe someday, and it will be a lab. Thanks

You ´might not be a “dog person” but if you met Gracie you’d realize she’s a people person lol

Loved the story...I like how you said...everyone goes to look at puppies and can leave without getting one, right? I chuckled and thought "riiiiiight". I also like how the people just knew you needed to have Gracie ... she was your puppy...and how mom ruined her....chuckles....spoiled with love builds a good obedient dog. :)
