Yes you are right it's ALL about the dogs. Love it when they trailing or treed down in a big bottom and they are echoing. Not a thing better in this world. God bless and good hunting
Such a refreshing video, I love everything about hunting with dogs. Except how often you see people mistreat their dogs. I see happy clean dogs that have obviously been loved and cared for in and out of the kennel. Love the videos, keep it up.
I just watched couple of your videos and had to invite my better half to join me. The way you treat your dogs is what it's all about to us as well. A great big pat on the back to you mister for giving them the life they deserve! Cheers from Newfoundland, Canada. Hope the hunting spirits keep ya happy!!
Hi my name is Shawn Powell from granite falls Washington, I have been hunting hounds my whole life, we hunt bear, lion, coon, bobcat up here in the cascade mountains of Washington State sugar love your videos
I gota share this with my hunting buddies. Great job on all the videos. The ones I've watched so far show you put in a lot of work in order to get a good "Shot", the videos, editing and content reflect your dedication and work. To hunt is hard, to hunt solo even harder while making a quality video and having the hounds to tend to. "It's all about the hounds" That's my favorite saying too, that's how i got here. Thanks Brett excellent
Thank you very much!!! I hope you enjoy and share away... I've got more I need to work on ... I've just been real busy here lately.. but I will get to them soon..
Nothing short of impressive. A man that loves his dogs right there, and a real nice set up. Want to build something like that in the future for my hawks and hunting dogs.
Thank you.. one of these days I need to tell the story of how I got started.. Airedales, hounds, stag hounds and then back to hounds .. its been a long journey
Thanks for the reply. I never hunted in an environment like yours. I can see why they can end up with a bloody tail. You have a great set up and some really well trained hounds. They better have a cold nose in that dry country.
This video is my favorite so far Brett but I haven't watched all of them yet so that could change lol Love to see your interaction with them. You can see how much they love you and visa versa.
Thanks... that video was kind of an after thought I wanted to show how I can tell Jazz to go get in her pen and that even though it was latched she would flip the latch open and get in... and everybody really loves it ..
great looking bunch. happy working dogs. we have 3 domestic hounds, we are not hunters or anything. so I always like to see both sides of keeping hounds. great video.
Thanks ..you know my grandson has a hound out of my stuff and also several friends.. all of them are just pets and they made real good pets. One of my hounds "Shine" goes and stays from time to time with a guy that works with me that only has one dog and they are big buddies .. she can stay all week in town and then I take her up on the mountain and she will cold trail a lion all day.. Thanks for watching!
Very true... we use to have a saying .. there are houndsmen and then there are "deer hunters with hounds" I don't mean to disparage deer hunters but when you are a true houndsmen "Its all about the hounds"...
Thank you.. You know I'm not sure, these have been bred for dry ground lion hunting in this country kind of best to best. I have a few that their granddaddy was hardtime breeding. Again thanks for watching..
Are these all walkers or walker mixes?. I'm in the southeast and I never see these dogs. We have plotts which I love! Redbones, black and tans, and walkers but they are traditional tri colored walkers. I've Googled and asked but I always come up with big game hounds or someone calls them leopard dogs? Which I maybe wrong but I don't call that a leopard hound
I'm sure a lot of walker.. but crossed up with what ever had enough nose to trail lions on dry ground .. not a leopard hound just dryground lion hounds ... Thank you
Probably a little bit of everything .. they all are just crossed up hounds bred for dryground lion hunting. Most of them have been bred best to best for many years to be able to trail a lion in this area down here.. when you do the research on them they most all go back to a a view old time hunters and ranchers in the area. Thanks for watching !
No she will do it to get out also and will let the other dogs out too lol I just noticed one day when I told her to get in her pen that she ran over and opened the gate to get in ... I had known for a while that she could open it to get out ... thanks for watching
When they are cold trailing they can get a bloody tail from whipping it back and forth "Monkey Tail" . and easier to deal with getting them in and out of the box.. the last 2 litters of pups I've had I didn't dock so we will see how it works .. What did you hunt with you hounds and where? Thanks!
Have you ever seen one get the monkey tail ? From cold trailing and whipping that tail back and forth hitting it on brush and getting bloody .. might just be something out here
No I don't usually sale any... maybe in the future but for the most part if I have a litter for myself what I don't keep I haven given to hard hunters... But thank you!
When they are cold trailing a lot in the brush they whip there tail and it can get bloody "monkey tail" also I like that it keeps it out of the way when in the box or anywhere really.. that being said I have heard that the guys hunting Jaguars won't take a hound with a short tail.. I believe they say it helps them know what is behind them so they can get away from a charging Jaguar .. not sure just what I heard .. Thanks for watching!
Good video. Good looking hounds you have there. I noticed some of your dogs have shorter tails. Do you dock them? Or is there a small percent of Mountain Cur in some of your hounds?
Thank you.. I dock them mainly because we do a lot of cold trailing and when they are cold trailing, and that is what we do the most of, they wipp their tails and if they are in the brush they can get a bloody tail or what we call "monkey tail" .. and as far as what they have in them .. no telling they have been crossed up for years just based on performance ..Thanks for watching
no they are scent hounds .. we bob their tails because when they are trailing they wag their tails alot and hit on the brush or rocks or what ever and can get what we call "monkey tail" or a bloody tail .. some people don't worry about it and I have heard that hunters in mexico or where they trail up Jaguars won't take a dog that has a bobbed tail
CBVTV Because I live in Washington bud. They outlawed it. First Bear, and there was such a outcry in rural NE Washington, because kids and livestock were getting whacked by Cougar. They recanted and ran a 5 year extension just on Cougar that was a draw. That ended about ten years ago. I gave my dogs to a couple of Nez Perce kids on the Rez across the river from my ranch and they did great with them. In fact my Redbone bitch outstruck every dog he had on the strike platform. It just sucks because I had just gotten into it and raised and trained my dogs when everything started going south. Now they are trying to pass more gun control and Idaho is looking better and better. Too bad I just cant pick the ranch up and move it 40 miles to the east.
Yeah thats bad ... California Washington and Oregon ... and they are pushing it this way .. I guess we are lucky here with the exception of our trailing conditions down south here
CBVTV If you look at the Trump election map by county? Way more counties voted red than blue. And the only one blue county in Eastern Washington was because of Washington State University. brilliantmaps.com/2016-county-election-map/
I was made this long before it became a fad to show how much we care for our hounds ..
Yes you are right it's ALL about the dogs. Love it when they trailing or treed down in a big bottom and they are echoing. Not a thing better in this world.
God bless and good hunting
Yep its all about the hounds .. should be some good echos coming up in the next one ... Thank you Blue and God Bless!!
Such a refreshing video, I love everything about hunting with dogs. Except how often you see people mistreat their dogs. I see happy clean dogs that have obviously been loved and cared for in and out of the kennel. Love the videos, keep it up.
Thank you Anthony ... yes I like to take care of my hounds .. we are all partners
Great kennel set up. Luxky dogs to be so well cared for. Good job.
That is some serious dog love :)
Ok .. thank you!

Thanks Seller...! going to be moving my lower camp but I'm still going to try and put up some videos.. I have a heck of a back log lol
Yea, that I say too. I like the way you've put carpeting on the doors of your dog box.
Yeah they love the dog box ..
Love the video on the dogs, you take really good care of them. Can tell they enjoy loading up in the truck to go hunt! Great video.

Awesome video I like the setup you have for your dogs
Thank you ... I had to move from there and built another ... still working on it .. just finished the misters today trying to keep them cool ..
They all love you Brett ! I always was told the way to pick a good man is to watch how he treats his dogs. How many dogs did you have in this video?
Thank you .. yes we are a team and they are my partners .. I don't how many there was .. I divide them up now males and females Thanks
This video is my favorite so far Brett but I haven't watched all of them yet so that could change lol Love to see your interaction with them. You can see how much they love you and visa versa.

what country do you live in?the video is very beautiful. 😀😀
Southern New Mexico …thank you ..it does have it own kind of beauty to it
You got some nice hounds.
Thank you...
What size calving bands do you use for new born pups tails?
Not sure ... I don't use them anymore and I have quit bobbing their tails ... Thanks
Awesome video! Mr. Vaughn, I hope to meet you in person someday and sit around a fire and listen to your stories!!
Thank you Rob.. I would enjoy meeting you in person also!

Any true houndsmen does.

They also make the best family dogs, you won't find a better bread that puts in the extra work to just get a little love back.
Yep mine are my family really … thanks I do like them
Awesome. What's the English blood in those dogs?
Thank you.. You know I'm not sure, these have been bred for dry ground lion hunting in this country kind of best to best. I have a few that their granddaddy was hardtime breeding. Again thanks for watching..
Beautiful dogs...
Thank you!
Is there any good videos about freeze branding dogs? That’s something I don’t know anything about but would love to give it a try
Not sure ... there should be .. something I need to do myself one day .. thanks
Them some right fine dogs they I bet they hunt like they look they look awesome
Thanks!

Quick question the dog that looked like a English dog she looked like bluetick and treeing walker mixed is that what she is ?
Probably a little bit of everything .. they all are just crossed up hounds bred for dryground lion hunting. Very nice video. Good work Brett
Thanks!
Very impressed that Jazz can open her gate, does she only do it on command or does she and friends go walkabout when things are slow?
No she will do it to get out also and will let the other dogs out too lol I just noticed one day when I told her to get in her pen that she ran over and opened the gate to get in ... I had known for a while that she could open it to get out ... thanks for watching
Why do you dock their tails. Just wondering. I have hunted hounds all my life "73 years" and never seen anyone dock a hounds tail.
When they are cold trailing they can get a bloody tail from whipping it back and forth "Monkey Tail" . and easier to deal with getting them in and out of the box.. the last 2 litters of pups I've had I didn't dock so we will see how it works .. What did you hunt with you hounds and where? Thanks!
@@BrettVaughnB100 I agree with Jim on this.
Have you ever seen one get the monkey tail ? From cold trailing and whipping that tail back and forth hitting it on brush and getting bloody .. might just be something out here
hey mr do you sale dogs? how old are that dogs?
No I don't usually sale any... maybe in the future but for the most part if I have a litter for myself what I don't keep I haven given to hard hunters... But thank you!
Dan is gone Maggie is gone Sheila is gone Solo is gone Deets is gone Missy is gone Shine is gone .. kinda sad to look back on this now
If you can teach a hound dog to open it's own kennel, you can teach em' to tree the ghost coon.
Lol problem is I did t teach her that .. thanks !
I was curious why you Bob the dog's tail
When they are cold trailing a lot in the brush they whip there tail and it can get bloody "monkey tail" also I like that it keeps it out of the way when in the box or anywhere really.. that being said I have heard that the guys hunting Jaguars won't take a hound with a short tail.. are the bobtail hounds bird dogs
no they are scent hounds .. we bob their tails because when they are trailing they wag their tails alot and hit on the brush or rocks or what ever and can get what we call "monkey tail" or a bloody tail .. some people don't worry about it and I have heard that hunters in mexico or where they trail up Jaguars won't take a dog that has a bobbed tail
What do you chase ??
I run Mountain lions mostly .. Bobcats and bears too .. but I prefer Mountain lions ..
+Richard B. Davis I prefer mountain lions but catch a fat bear sometimes
Better handle than my Kemmer..lol
Thanks... but they are still hounds and can still be real hard headed ..
I had to give all my hounds away about 10 years ago.
thats a shame .. why ?
CBVTV Because I live in Washington bud. They outlawed it. First Bear, and there was such a outcry in rural NE Washington, because kids and livestock were getting whacked by Cougar. Holy smokes . Someone who loves and understands hounds . Have a Walker ..she’s a stubborn bitch . Gentle ad kind …
lol yes they are stubborn .. I think that is what makes the good ones .. Thanks
So why do they say hounds are dump?!!
Not really dumb .. but can be pretty hard headed .. but that is why they can stay on a follow a hard track .. Thanks for watching!
Do you every use English Hounds ???
I imagine there is some english in these hounds.. I had a Redtick hound one time and his sire was a registered hound that I believe was hardtime ?
+Richard B. Davis I had a hound “super Hoover” his daddy was a registered English hardtime
Got ya buddy hit me back if you can
