  • Designed for exercise or simply to relax, join us on a wander around Plymouth, Devon.
Filmed early in the morning in July 2020, join our walk from the Royal William Yard in Plymouth, formerly a victualling yard for the Royal Navy, along the early morning streets to Plymouth Hoe.
The Royal William yard was sold for development to cafes bars and accommodation about 30 years ago, formerly used as a Navy storage site. It was originally built in the 1820s to provide the Royal Navy with victuals and had a Mill, Bakery, Cooperage and enormous biscuit factory, amongst other things. The Royal William Yard is said to be one of the best preserved and largest sites of its kind in the country.
After leaving the magnificence of the Royal William Yard, we walk along the Georgian streets seeing very few people out and about just as the sun is rising, eventually arriving at Plymouth Hoe. An interesting watch if you have never been to Plymouth!

Thank you so much for uploading. This is exactly the way I walked in 2018 with a wonderful friend of mine. Reminded me in all the things we were talking about on our way to the hoe

Wow! Here off of the Waters of Lake Michigan, it doesn't look nearly as nice! Not that they haven't planned or tried. Our "Little Ocean" can create quite a wreck!! Loving the underground, cliffside stairway to the overlook down below. Reminds me of a dream. If that developement were here, that putting green covered piered extension would be Covered in GOOSE POOP!! Love Geese, not their Poop!
Thanks for the walk! Our Lakeside Parks are denying vehicles. Some are just Closed, completely. I am casted anyway.. fun stuff!! So, 🌟10x the Thanks for the Sun Rising, Day Starting, Virtually Refreshing Walk during these Hazy days in the Midwest, U.S.!🤗

Closed parks does not sound like fun! Our parks were closed for a bit and it seems to sad, although necessary, Sarah :)

I was born in Plymouth and the tidal pool at Devil’s Point was where I learned to swim! That was over 60 years ago.

Up with the lark.....best time of the day anywhere. Lovely walk.....P.S. My daughter is down in your part of the country this week....dodging the heavy rain forecast all week! (So typical after all that good weather....) Has been to Gunwalloe and Praa Sands today! Sent a video of my grandson jumping in and out of the rockpools at Holywell Bay yesterday....I did ask her to search out Ross for me, but alas he's in Rome at the mo doing Leonardo!! :-)) x J x

I do admire your dedication in bringing these virtual walks to our screens & on this video it showed us some of the wonderful architecture and the eclectic mix of building living in harmony with the history of this Maritime City. So many of these buildings survived the pounding of the bombing of WW2 & is a testament to the people that lived in this City.........PS. Did you have to walk all the way back????? Dedication indeed.

This is one of the places I went to as an exchange student with my host student! Wow! I have all these photos of that lighthouse and then these really cool coves down by the water. There was a really big salt water pool there as well that I see is empty in your video. I can't remember if it was in use when I was there or not...I think it was full though, just not in season when I was there in March.
This was like 1993 or 1994. Thank you for the memories! We had walked to this weird semi circle of cement and stumbled upon a group of sunbathing nudists!

Beautiful, just beautiful...an amazing piece of filming Andrew - I think you must have an inbuilt Steadicam in your right arm! I hope you had a hearty breakfast afterwards (or before!). You captured perfectly that very special time of early morning sunrise, and it's so good to see well proportioned Georgian architecture still proudly asserting its stylish preeminence in Plymouth (despite the best efforts of some careless modern architects & insensitive developers!). CWT's recent videos make for an incredibly worthy quadricentenary commemoration and celebration of those intrepid pioneers setting out from the West Country to the New World. Thank you Sarah & Andrew 😊

Loved the walk. I've never been to Plymouth so it was interesting. I wonder if you've ever thought of putting a map up of the walks - either on screen or in your description

    • @AnnieWarbux
      @AnnieWarbux 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Or do a video on where they have been, with maps. Not being from Cornwall/U.K., other than blood, I get turned around by the Geography! Maybe if they put a popup map on their video in the corner?
I like the touring walks but, I love the "Hiking" Walks, too! I was fascinated to learn that regular people allow their lands to be listed, with permission for passage on "path"ways, THROUGH their property, for strangers to saunter on by!?! Whaa??
      That is So Cool!
Too normal... in a way.. somehow!?
That would NEVER EVER EVER EVER happen in America! Our Kids, these days, can't even play Hide and Seek through the neighborhoods, like we did as kids. (not that they actually want to, anyway..) And I wouldn't DARE get caught on farmland or a ranch without a reason!!

I live here it's a great place to be any time of the year. Lots of local and international history the city has a strong connection with the U.S. because of the pilgrim fathers celebrating the 400th anniversary of that sailing this month. The city has long and established links with the Royal Navy and the Marines. Travel 30 minutes outside of Plymouth and your onto Dartmoor national Park there are few places in the UK were borth places are accessible in just one place.
