    So can I put a 3uz oil pump on my 92 1uz🧐 or would I have to get a 3uz tensioner with it?

    Gday
    For an early 1uz build, the later 3uz oil pump works just fine with 1uz tensioner, and 1uz timing belt.
    I’ve done it. The repositioning of the No 1 idler on the later pumps makes not much difference on a 1uz. The relocation of the No 1 idler is the reason for the change in the side dust cover.
    I’ve never worked on a 3uz. They have a longer stroke. If they use a longer timing belt, this is why.

    Kelvin, I wonder why they still offer the early pump at all if the later one is an improvement?

      You need to have the branch here in Namibia African continent so we can work together

      Id suggest toyota still offer the early one as in their systems the early are late dont show as being interchangeable. Its like the crank sensors, the latter vvti unit interchanges however they arent listed as a supercession in the toyota system.

      @@CartuneNZ are you going to attempt to install a 3uz pump on a gen 1 engine?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont understand the term attempt. Ive been using the later pumps for a long time now, one featured in the lambo uz engine assembly video. They just bolt on, except fot the sude cover as discussed in this video

      @@CartuneNZ gotcha, so just the timing cover needs to be changed like in the video? All original accessories go on just fine?

    will 15100-0F010 work on my early 1uz non vvti? worried about timing issues. 15100-0F010 is from a 2UZ VVT-I from what i can tell. tensioner assemblys appear to be the same part number for both engines. 13505-50022. idler is also the same part number.
    (the pump that came off the motor looks like the one @ 7:31 and the one i bought new looks like @ 7:40)

    Gday
    Thank you for the help on 1uz’s
    Re: oil pump 15100-50040
    We’ve put this new pump on a 91 1uz
    Timing belt won’t tension up as it it slacks beyond the tensioner travel.
    Have found that the No 1 idler mount is located differently to the stock 1uz pump.
    This reduces belt deflection at No 1 idler, creating more belt slack.
    Sump off and on again.
    Please let people know that this part number won’t fit 1uz
    Thank you again. UZeding is way easier with you around.
    Ian

      Maybe if you matched the correct tensioner assembly your belt would tension up fine. I've used lots of those oil pumps on early engines just fine.

      @Ian-m3u ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m very sorry. I had bought 2 new belts. Both are incorrect, and a bit too long. As a thought, I put the old belt back on to check...Notaprob.
      Cartunes was right again
      Thank you

      @Ian-m3u ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To help others:
      The 2 belts that I bought online from 2 different sellers are both 209 tooth belts as they should be. But,...... the pitch (distance between teeth) is slightly longer. Beware
      Thank you

      I only use the genuine factory belts, and this is why I recommend it.

      @@CartuneNZdo the genuine factory ones supply a belt that works with a non vvti with the later pump? Or does the tensioner/pulley assembly have to be different? I’ve got an early non vvti with a later pump and having this timing belt issue with a Gates belt

    Great info kelvin
    What seals do you use for a thick rod engine using later pump, part numbers are different for front seals and pick pipe gasket

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While the part numbers are different the parts interchange fine so either will work, however these days generally I order the lastest version of the parts so 3uz part numbers. Cheers Kelvin

    hi kelvin hopeing you can help me out mate . i have a 91 1uz and i am trying to fix an oil leak that appears to be coming from the top of the oil pump . i have removed the oil pump to replace the main oil gallery o ring , the seal that is in there is square in profile and appears to be plastic does that sound right to you ?

    Hi Kelvin, is the bolt in pressure release valve on 3UZ pump included with it? Or needs to be purchased separately to fit on early 1UZ?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pump comes as a complete assembly with the oil pressure relief valve fitted. Cheers Kelvin

    So what about the non vvti gen 2 1uz? Got a bit confused with all the back and forth between all the generations. The 3uz pump is still interchangeable as a whole assembly but you wouldnt buy just the gear set to go into the older housings is that correct?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Housings which are designed for the narrow gears won't accept the wider gears, therefore if a higher volume pump is required then a complete unit is best. Cheers

    What do you reckon about the shrouded oil pickup on the later models? is the vvti front sump one interchangeable with the gen1? worth the upgrade?

    • @CartuneNZ
      @CartuneNZ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like the later oil pickups as we often modify sumps and they are easier to fit. Provided its front sump to front sump the oil pickups interchange but Id only change if I was in there and the stock one was damaged. The early ones work fine in most cases.

      Ive used 10-60 but found the vvti operation was not ideal so came back to 10-50. I'd like to see how other engines respond
