I have 2 that are on my front porch. One is particularly large. I honestly thought it was a banana spider for a while, but it's definitely a joro from what I can tell
Banana spider webs will have a think line down the middle of it, and in a zig zag pattern. I should have mentioned that. I have yet to see any here in Kansas but who knows when.
In California, we have the very similar big Orb Weaver spiders, Pretty similar I think. I always thought they were kind of cool. I saw a big June bug fly into one once -unfortunate for him, LOL. People automatically kill them when they see them, and that's just wrong. Thanks for this...subbed...
Thank you! Spiders and snakes usually pay the price for just being. I’m in Kansas and our Orb weavers get big but I’d like to travel south and study these in person.

I've fed many. You get really good at catching flies when you wanna fatten up a giant ord weever.
