I'm dealing with some serious health issues as is my husband...so when I want to receive a blessing i come here, listen to your playing this awesome instrument...and yes, I believe it will be in heaven too!
This is a glorious anthem of praise to our Lord. Some lyrics of this anthem:. What can shake the sure repose. With walls surrounded though may smile at all that foes. What applicable lyrics for such a time as we experience presently. There is coming a holy norm when we as believers in Christ will live and reign with Him in a sinless, disease free (no covid 19), but holy perfect world!
I knew that the internet can be very educating. And still I'm utterly amazed to learn so much new facts about Haydn's Kaiserlied. Your rendition is wonderful. I wished I could hear it at midnight on German radio stations instead of their feeble versions. But most of all I'm fascinated that Haydn's melody also serves as a great hymn.
You never cease to amaze us with these wonderful performances. This particular performance is so well suited to this fantastic organ. Additionally, you have such a wonderful ability to get the very best out of this instrument here and showcase the splendid dynamic range can attain in your capable hands. Hope your fingers and legs recover soon from this one! Again, thanks for sharing and God Bless.
Wayne Heidelberg Thanks Wayne! I find that my fingers (mainly forearms) can get tired quickly with full couplers on when I do not play this organ on a regular basis.
My favorite lyrics to this famous tune are from the Methodist Hymnal. This was the hymn my first husband and I chose for our wedding in 1989. 1 God, who stretched the spangled heavens, infinite in time and place, flung the suns in burning radiance through the silent fields of space, we your children, in your likeness, share inventive powers with you. Great Creator, still creating, show us what we yet may do. 2 Proudly we rise our modern cities, stately buildings, row on row; yet their windows, blank, unfeeling, stare on canyoned streets below, where the lonely drift unnoticed in the city's ebb and flow, lost to purpose and to meaning, scarcely caring where they go. 3 We have ventured worlds undreamed of since the childhood of our race; know the ecstasy of winging through untraveled realms of space; probed the secrets of the atom, yielding unimagined power, facing us with life's destruction or our most triumphant hour. 4 As each far horizon beckons, may it challenge us anew, children of creative purpose, serving others, honoring you. May our dreams prove rich with promise, each endeavor well begun. Great Creator, give us guidance till our goals and yours are one.
Would love to hear this after someone takes the time to actually tune it. The instrument is incredible. If not for the delay in speech - the reed organ is literally the most expressive keyboard instrument.
And my relatives and I along with several friends do sneak in the first verse of "Deutschlandlied Deutschland Uber Alles" (auf Deutsch) when we see that this is one of the hymns to be sung during services at church. Causes some raised eyebrows from those of non-Germanic ancestry. LOL

Francis Adamus Have you seen the size of it? It's a big one. I guess the clue is in 'orchestral' - i.e it's not like the compact parlour reed organ like my granny had, with the fancy mirror and Victoriana pilasters in the superstructure!
I wonder how many reed banks? I have a Berlin reed organ ... The folks who built these instruments were genius ... still working after more than a hundred years!

think of it like a one-way accordion - but the air is pumped with your feet. The foot pumping causes a vacuum, which creates the wind, and when a key is pressed it opens a valve so the wind passes through. This allows the air to pass through various sized and shaped brass reeds, acoustically amplified by the wood chambers and soundboard that the reeds are attached to. There can be over 500 chambers in some organs. the one in this video has 440 of these ...
