It's better when you watch it high on weed. Trust me. It's the way that masterpiece was meant to be watched. Gandalf and Bilbo set the movie off smoking "the finest weed in the Shire" just to set the tone. Mirri and Pippen smoke up all of the white wizard's weed and eat all his shrooms not a minute after the tower falls and Saromom is dead.

@@herbertdonnellgrayiii4305 see other than smoking weed, all of those names sound stupid and gibberish like.
I tried to watch the first one and after 25-30 mins I was out because of dumb names and not being able to get past the fact they could have just dug a deep hole in the woods and buried the ring….

"12 Angry Men" was the film that made me fall in love with both cinema and storytelling. Although it's basically 95 minutes of 12 men arguing over events which don't directly concern them, it's still very compelling and character driven, and we learn a lot about the characters as the story progresses.

Ok, the phrase "should see" can mean various things. Are we talking in terms of quality alone? To develop a diverse understanding of the possibility of movies? Films of historical importance? And does that mean from a technical standpoint, or in pop culture significance?
For example, I was once given the question if you had to explain the concept of movies to someone who had never seen a movie, which five films would you pick. My selections were Duck Soup (1933), Casablanca (1942), Ben-Hur (1959), Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), and Beauty and the Beast (1991). Not my top five films of all time, but a selection that in combination represented the greatest range of what mainstream Hollywood cinema has to offer.
That all being said, it's a shame there's no traditional animated film on this list. How can you flat out reject one of the most important mediums in the history of cinema?

I also definitely agree about "Toy Story," "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" (also "The Two Towers" and "The Return of the King), and "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope." I've seen "The Breakfast Club" and "Singin' in the Rain" (I even mimicked a dance move Cosmo did in the song "Make 'Em Laugh" when I was little that my mom thought was cute). "The Wizard of Oz" is a movie I would say you're COMPLETELY wrong about seeing at least once MsMojo. That movie is very untrue to the book that L. Frank Baum wrote, and it still bugs me a lot that Baum is NOT getting the praise he deserves for his work. It really angers me that people are acknowledging the movie more than the book. The movie doesn't deserve ANY praise at all, it should have been a Box Office bomb for its lack of loyalty to the book. I say that movie should NOT be seen at all. That movie deserves to be forgotten, probably completely. I think it was best Baum never saw the movie (he died 20 years before the movie was released), and somebody who's friends with my mom guessed that Baum would NOT have liked that movie, he might have thought it was bad too.

You know ahead of time you're gonna get flamed many times over for not including so many people's own version of their own top picks. I'm a massive fan of motion pictures and visual media in general, and at 70 years old have seen every single film on this list. You left out some of my own personal favs and included some I considered "meh", but including the LOTR trilogy caused me to give your picks a "thumbs up". In Singing in the Rain you mentioned it was Gene Kelly dancing with Debbie Reynolds and Cyd Charisse.
It was not Cyd Charisse. It was Donald O'Connor.

I would just state the Star Wars trilogy and the Lord of the Rings trilogy as one entry each. They are best watched as their own complete stories respectively. I'd add Alien, Second Hand Lions, Hook, Schindler's List, and 12 Angry Men. I have not seen Spirited Away, but have heard it is amazing. One of the Studio Ghibli movies should have made this list as well. My choice would be Princess Mononoke.
Edit: I forgot to add in The Bird Cage. That movie is hilarious and never fails to put a smile on my face!
