It would have been great if they kept them all in.
The scene from the books that I miss the most in the movies is near the end of the first book. Haggrid said that every teacher, including snape, had contributed to the defense of the Sorcerer's Stone, but they didn't show Snape's contribution ( the potion puzzle).
Without that in there, it contradicts what Haggrid said about Snape having contributed to the stone's defense.

      Lupin and Tonks' reunion?!?!?!
      Try their Entire Relationship!!
They're relationship was glossed over in the movies and you would have never known that they were together let alone had a son!!
There's so much left out of the last three films that it's now wonder WB is rebooting the franchise with a max Series.
Honestly I think they gave David Yates TOO MUCH creative freedom and they regret every bit of it

I just listened to the entire Harry Potter series on Audible (for the sixth time)! I also read it to my two youngest children 11 years ago. And now my eldest daughter just read the series to her ten year old! (And as a bonus, they watched all of the movies after they finished reading the books!)
I HIGHLY recommend the books to Harry Potter fans if all you've experienced are the movies! A 20 hour Audible book is whittled down to a two hour movie. SOOO many detail are lost. You'll love the books! ❤

The first two movies are the best as they actually respect the source materiel while the last 6 don’t
But also, I honestly tell people this is what happens when you have a screenwriter who shouldn’t have been there as Prisoner of Azkaban is the movie that confirmed for me that this is about money not about actually caring about the source material

Ms. Mojo, thank you! I've been watching a lot of Harry Potter videos recently and you just uploaded these in time. Despite the fact that the franchise ended a decade ago, it's beautiful to see that there are still people out there making HP videos. Although I've seen some of these already, you just reminded me it would've been great if these were not deleted from the final cut. My favourite is Dudley's redemption, Harry's saying he doesn't need luck cos he has Dumbledore and Dumbledore saying he wasn't worried because he was with Harry, Lupin & Tonks, and Harry's scar burning in the Goblet of Fire, and etc. I can't list them all. 😆😅

I'm going to go in order in my opinion from every 8 Harry Potter film to where I think that deleted scene is more canonical:
Year 1: Professor Snape gives Harry the answers to the three potion ingredients such as asphodel, bezoar, and monkshood.
Year 2: Ron telling Harry and Hermione of knowing about Tom Riddle while serving detention polishing up the trophies in the Trophy Room.
Year 3: Harry contemplating about Peter Pettigrew after McGonagall scolds Neville for forgetting the passwords to the Gryffindor Common Room that caused Sir Cadogan to allow Sirius Black to enter.
Year 4: Ron informing to Harry about Barty Crouch Sr. about why he's hated after Harry sees Crouch's lifeless body after being murdered by his son in his Alastor Moody disguise.
Year 5: Neville admitting about how the Daily Prophet is corrupting the Wizarding World that he and his grandmother cancelled their subscription.
Year 6: Professor Dumbledore explaining to Harry of the cave that both of them travelled to to find the fake Horcrux locket that Tom Riddle lured two classmates into and being assaulted afterwards.
Year 7 - Part 1: Dudley and Harry settle out their differences as they said their final farewell together.
Year 7 - Part 2: Draco finally giving Harry his wand after recovering from the killing curse to finish off Voldemort.

"It was a rare sunny, Summer's day, a day Harry would rarely differ between yesterday and tomorrow. Today, however, would change Harry's life forever. It was a Monday, which wasn't that unusual. All three kids at Hogwarts, which again, wasn't surprising. However, when Ginny called that the Post was there, by "muggle standards", there was a letter written in an untidy scrawl which made Harry think of Hagrid. Discarding the bills and "would you like to be thinner" catalogues, he flipped the envelope over. It was from... but that can't be right.
'Ginny, are you sure this is for us... and not another Harry Potter that lives around here?' Harry said, confused.
'The one, the only, Chosen One' she replied, winking, kissing him on the cheek and looking over his shoulder at the envelope.
'Who lives in London you know?' She asked. Harry couldn't think of anyone. Opening it with a little trepidation, Harry's eyes scanned the consistently untidy writing that looked familiar.
'Harry, it's been a while, but you're the only person I could think of writing to. If it's okay with you, could we please meet in London next week. If so, please respond with that bloody pigeon. Cheers, Big D'
'Is that...' Ginny asked, but Harry was reading it over again.
"Revelio" Harry muttered, running the Holly and Phoenix feather over the paper, but nothing. It wasn't a mistake or a hidden message, a Zonkos product, or his imagination. It was really Dudley. Quickly replying on a scrap piece of paper, Harry wrote the time to meet and the cafe Harry, Ron and Hermione went after Bill and Fleur's wedding, many Moons ago. Attaching it to Moses' leg, Harry sent it off, anticipating and worrying equally about meeting his cousin again, and why he'd reach out.
The third of August came about, and Harry kissed Ginny and apparated to the alley near the Cafe. Nostalgia lingered in the dusty way, the bins still full, the lamppost throwing little light specks onto the shadowy brick walls. Emerging into the sunlight and noisy street, Harry spotted someone could only be Dudley. Muscled, tattooed and thinning hair, a small smile appeared on his face as the two cousins met. The bigger shock for Harry though, was whom Dudley was with. A small, Blonde haired girl with shoulder length hair stood in front of Dudley, of whom could only be his daughter. Same piggy eyes, but a sweeter disposition, clearly not everything had come from Dudley.
Shaking his hand again, Harry, Dudley and his daughter walked into the cafe, the same formica topped diner style benches still greasy, an air of love missing.
'Wow Dudley, you're a Dad' Harry said, still shocked and not really knowing what else to say.
'It's more than that... she's... well, like her mum... and you, for that matter. Her mum passed when she was three, so now when the signs presented themselves, I realised you were the only I could talk to. This is Cassiopeia, or Cass for short. Cass, this is your cousin, Harry. Harry can make stuff move and grow and appear out of nothing like you' Dudley said, looking Harry in the eyes. Harry's head spun. A muggle born witch born into Dudley's family...
'What is it you want me to do?' Said Harry, smiling kindly at Cass; looking up at Dudley with a very serious look.
Dudley didn't say anything, instead shoved a crumpled envelope towards him. The Hogwarts crest embellished in wax on the back.
    'Take us to Diagon Alley?'

It was never explicitly stated, but has been confirmed by JKR: Neville was given his late father's wand by his grandmother which wasn't exactly matched to him. When he had to replace his wand after the events in the Ministry, his abilities markedly improved, and he became a leader among the students in Harry's place. Likewise, when Ron's wand, a hand-me-down from his brother, broke in Chamber of Secrets it had some humorous and necessary backfires, but when it had to be replaced, Ron became much more competent.

In a series where the main 9 students consist of 5 Gryffindors, 3 Slytherins, and 1 Ravenclaw, #7 would have been a big moment for members of the "most underappreciated and underutilized" house of Hogwarts in Hufflepuff, whose only times in the spotlight outside of that scene involved Cedric Diggory (including the "Potter Stinks" badges). I read the books before the movies came out, so my memory convolutes the two, not accurately remembering which was which. The movies told the same story in a different form, but left a lot out. Sometimes, it seemed like they were relying on fans of the books to fill in the gaps. The biggest gap I saw in the entire movie franchise was in The Prisoner of Azkaban when leaving out who the "Marauders" were: Padfoot, Tongs, Moony, and Wormtail. That was critical information in the books, and left out of the movies.

Yeah the one where Neville defends Harry should definitely have been shown. Neville may not be the brightest but he is a loyal ally. I even more glad Ron was on Harry’s side that time too, because I was pissed when he wasn’t in the Goblet of Fire. It’s not Harry’s fault he’s famous. Ron’s petty jealousy just had to get the best of him. I think during that time Harry should’ve sternly told Ron “You can’t just leave it could you? You don’t even care do you? After everything we’ve been through. Well I’m done with this friendship”

More for scenes that were left out that makes a big difference from the books to the movies. Number one comes to mind is Ginny herself. She has a way better storyline in the books. More understanding of the Harry + Ginny romance. How Ginny was in to him from the 2nd book and how she was always nervous around Harry but then hermonie told her to start going for other boys to help her nerves and make Harry maybe to notice her which by the 6th book created a raging monster inside Harry lol. The first kiss in the book was 1000000x better as Harry had missed the finally quidditch game of the season but Ginny playing seeker caught the snitch and they absolutely killed I think hufflepuff to win the cup and Harry making it to the dorm saw the massive party and him going straight to Ginny and embraced her. Hermione happy and Ron giving the if “if you must” look of approval to him. Sigh. Sorry Bonnie but you got snubbed.

Thankfully a lot of these scenes have been added into the movies subsequent releases and TV airings. The scene with Snape answering his own questions and mentioning that a Bezoar cures most poisons I am particularly fond of, since its the same method that Harry uses to save Ron from the poison in the 6th movie. When Dumbledore comments on Harry's use of the Bezoar he and Snape lock eyes and Snape has a look of surprise. That moment he realizes that Harry had been paying attention in that first class.

Why, even after hearing it pronounced in the movie AND audio book are you saying “cur-day-gun”? You show a clip where they clearly say it correctly “cur-duh-gun”, and then immediately say it “cur-day-gun”? What!? No research done? I get different accents, but come on. What!? No movie or audio book says it that way. None.

  • @buddrud
    @buddrud 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yeah. I only got through about 5 minutes of this. The first three films could've included more, but they were still good. Frankly, they all were good. But after finally reading the series (a 2 week reading spree in December of 2011) I felt that from 'Goblet of Fire' they should've made them epic films. Literally 3 hours plus each (yeah, I know 'Deathly Hallows was 2 movies). There was so much more to include that would have helped those who chose not to read the books understand better what was happening. The exclusion of Dobby for three movies was a travesty. Also, the whole concept of Aparating and Disaparating was never even explained. The books had an extensive segment teaching the elder students how to do it properly. I could go on, but I've already written too much. But I made the point I wanted to.

Umbridge admitting she sent the Dementors after Harry in Order of the Phoenix. Would've been during the scene in her office when she thought Harry was going to Dumbledore via Floo powder. Don't know if they actually included that bit when filming the scene or was never included in the script at all. Either way, feels like a plot hole not being told this in the finished movie. Guess we're just meant to assume it was either Umbridge or anyone else from the Ministry who wanted to silence Harry.

as a guy whom has never read the HP series-my loss??? The Horcroxs info about speaking he who shall not be named, would've been pertinent movie/story info, as from my side it was just mystery after mystery, I'm fine with that-SyFy is about Imagination, so I figured my own twist-of course they helped, though it would've been cool info to have and brought a more realistic sense to the evil and spirit of he who shall not be named---and how H/R/H were actually being hunted and followed and tracked...again wizards and magic, not really difficult to imagine a reason/theory why, and kinda fun--now I have to rewatch HP, TY4that revelation... ;p any side story with Snape shoulda/coulda been included, they were already way over normal run time, and Snape plays such an awesome, is he bad/evil, does he hate P, wtf dude??? and well clearly what's meant to be, will always find a way...again cool scenes, neat little snip its as this was an intricate story that was fun to follow4me!

Damn, I didn't even know the hunting scene from the Deathly Hallows was a thing.
Honestly, I don't know why they cut #14. With the scene cut, it just seems like Snape was being even more of an unnecessary dick by taking points away from Griffondor because Harry didn't know the answers to his questions. But with the scene in, it shows that Snape took them because Harry was getting smart with him.

Petunia was not a squib, Lily was a muggleborn witch.

What's so sad is how much Daniel Ratcliff hates ever being in HP. The way he talks about the past makes you wonder why he does. He doesn't like fans coming up to him either about it. He really despises the franchise. Honest, even Emma Watson and Rupert Grint don't like to discuss it, but there not as bad as Daniel is.

You screwed up in saying the Aunt inferred that she was a squib. Her/Lily's parents had no magical ability, so Lily was the exception, not Petunia. They were right to keep Draco throwing Harry the wand out. Too many people think Draco had some redemption arc because of that outtake, but no. He was still a bad person, he was just a coward. The would have screwed the entire thing by leaving that in. JKR herself went on a rant about this and said people who liked draco or thought he had any redemption were basically stupid.

I thought it would be perfect karma if at the last scene at the end of both she would have Dudley, petunia a wife and child of big D showed up to the platform to see his child off to Hogwarts. Not only was his Aunt a witch but he also survived a dementor attack so l don't t think it would've been a strech to sho a child of Dudley getting to go to Hogwarts like his/her grandma wanted to go on. Just my own conclusion for petunias life
