Reviewing REGENCY CAFE - one of LONDON'S MOST FAMOUS!

- After the terrible breakfast that I had at Harrods recently, I've been recommended by so many of you to try Regency Cafe and didn't realise how popular it was. Had to give it a go in the early afternoon as I was busy with work so it's more of a brunch but lets give it a go anyway!
Please don't forget to like and subscribe to the channel.
Thank you all for your comments and watching the videos!
The Regency cafe is great, especially for breakfast. The prices are usually very competitive to be in Westminster. Great and honest review as always, Gary! Nice to see the evolution from 200 subs to now over 3000 in such a short amount of time. Keep up the great work, mate!
Ah you're always too kind. Really good value for money and really enjoyed it too. I'm still in shock at the subs. Thank you as always for watching and leaving comments :)
17,300 now!
Fried bread, egg and beans is a heavenly combo!. Bacon, sausage and black pudding just make it a top notch english breakfast!!!
Bosh. Lovely stuff Jon, glad you enjoyed.
Yeah, Fried Bread essential aswell as Black Pudding tbf
The Kennington Lane directly opposite the back of Vauxhall station is one of the best cafes in London. Am retired now, but I used that place for nearly 5 years, every morning. The Special breakfast is best. Delicious, the sausage is not frozen to start with, the bread is bloomer, eggs are great as is the rest of it. You will enjoys a breakfast there. Halil the guy who runs the place makes you feel very welcome too, the whole place is brilliant. Highly recommended.
I actually went there the other day Tony but it was so busy that it was almost impossible to do a video and out of respect to other diners, I don't think it's fair to disturb their meal but when I notice it's a bit quieter, I will give it a try! Thank you for watching.
@GaryEats hi Gary that is now my local to work. I like the Kennington Lane cafe and the Queens head the other side of Vauxhall Gardens is also good but not as good as the Kennington or Regency
Thanks for putting that up. I shall check it out.
Force fed cooked breakfasts every Sunday morning as a child in the 1960's by a fiercely religious mother
Hard bacon snotty eggs kippers
Eneough to put you off for life
However your full English looks beautiful and eating it around 2 pm sounds like a great idea
Buttering toast to a little jazz piano is surely a stroke of genius
Gary , you've really nailed it here !
Thankyou
Hi Chris. Hopefully you've grown to like them again! Was a good breakfast and just wanted to avoid the rush. I've received lots of comments about the toast buttering haha, I really appreciate your kind words and I'm glad you've enjoyed the video. Thanks for commenting and have a good weekend :)
Layer Cake. Nice one, thanks.
Most welcome 😊
A very well established eating spot, not only for breakfast, have a look at the menu . I used to work nearby. Always a good feed and the staff are first rate, hard working group of cooks and servers . A real café and for the family and others visiting in the area, ie walking distance from Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Palace of Westminster etc. The down side try and avoid lunch time, the customers are queuing inside and around the corner, says a lot really. When I am up London and nearby, an excellent port of call. Ps What no service charge, it maybe just maybe they pay every one a fair wage.
The staff are excellent. I made sure to go late to avoid the hustle and bustle. Thanks for watching!
honestly after a hard day driving buses in suffolk watching your videos so relaxing
Hope you've had a good day mate. I appreciate the kind words. Thanks for watching!
I am always amazed that people try to tell you what you "must" eat in these reviews, such as mushrooms and brown sauce. I don't enjoy either of those things - they spoil the experience for me. I wouldn't choose black pudding, but if white pudding was there, it would go on my plate. We all have different likes and dislikes - and some of us have allergies or aversions that dictate what we can eat. Your plates are always varied and you give honest, straight forward reviews, without compromise. Keep on doing what you do, Gary! Really enjoying your content, approach and variety - a bit like a decent Full English, a la Liz would be - nothing complicated!
Thank you Liz. Much appreciated - thanks for being on my side haha.
Black pudding is congealed blood I believe, must be a Pommy thing, we dont get it or even offered it in Oz, cheers
@@leonardpearce6893 you can get it in NZ - not that I ever will! Having seen (and smelt) it being made, there's nothing at all appealing to me! But some enjoy it, so more power to them!
That's a nice breakfast. Love fried slice and the black pudding looks scrummy 😋😋😋
It was great!
Hello Gary. I came across you’re channel yesterday and I have to say it’s absolutely superb. I’ve watched almost all of the rest of your content since. You have a great under stated approach to presenting, you are the right side of tasteful (no pun intended!!), with a natural likeable persona. I love how you present and talk about the food-with a passion but without the silly frills that one sees a lot of utubers attempt to do. It “has to be” brown sauce on a fried breakfast. Very good price too.
The food looked really good and the old style cafe was an authentic setting. Loved the jazz piano vibes too. I hope as the channel grows (which I have no doubt it will) I hope you venture further a field, trying different towns and cities in the UK.
I look forward to more videos. All the best from Liverpool.
Liked and subscribed!!
❤️🙏👌.x
Hello and welcome to the channel! I really appreciate your kind words, I try to be myself and be concise as a possibly can without taking up too much of your time. I'm really glad you like the videos, I do love brown sauce, price was excellent.
Speaking of Liverpool, I will no doubt be there before the end of the year to do a video or two. Please let me know some real good places/hidden gems. I daren't ask whether you're the red or the blue side of Merseyside. Have a great Sunday. Thank you!
Well, that beats Harrods' full English hands down for me. Really competitive price, plenty of it (I would have opted for mushrooms, though) and it looked cooked the way I like a full English. A piece of properly cooked fried bread and thick sliced toast - bang on.
Definitely beats Harrods although that wouldn't be saying much. Glad you liked it!
Yes Gary lad, that looked superb.
Hello mate. Thanks for watching as always. Was very nice.
Good to see the beans served on the plate instead of in a silly pot next to the plate. I see before you start tucking in that the beans are providing moisture and additional flavour to the sausage, black pudding, bacon and fried bread.
Edit : can you explain the piercing of the toast crust? Never seen that before.
I don't mind the pot with beans in but I do prefer it on the plate. We see it very similar. Thanks for watching!
Similarly. You need the adverb which describes the verb SEE.
It was to clean the bean sauce off his knife before he buttered his toast. Quite a niche move that - well spotted.
Just seen your edit. It's to clean the knife before buttering!
Thank you and also a good spot!@@howiprogram
Joined last week and you had just over 900 subscribers now your heading to 3500 - good content is always appreciated well done 👏
Thank you Jane! Still in shock how quickly it's moved. Thanks for watching and commenting!
We continue reviewing your reviews in London, Gary. This is likely to be the best English breakfast that we have ever had and 10.50 for the breakfast deal including extra hash browns and black pudding is very good value. We appreciate your wise advice so much.
Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it!
£9.40! Now that is true value Gary and i will add this to my list when next visiting London! Anytime you come up with a meal under £10. I am interested immediately😅
It’s very very busy so be prepared Geoffrey 👍
What a banging breakfast, take some notes Harrods! I'm the same as you Gary, sod those mushrooms - much rather have an extra black pudding or a hash brown! As always, keep it going Gary - congratulations on 3k subs, you're nailing it!
Very kind as always, Max. I'm so glad I've finally found some people that also don't enjoy mushrooms... lovely bit of black pudding instead. Thank you so much and have a good evening.
The Regency cafe is iconic. I’ll definitely try it and e pellici when I visit London.
Give it a go!
Lovely looking breakfast. Those subscribers are rocketing 🎉 Just goes to show when a channel is done right.
Ah Gary, you're too kind. Thanks for watching!
TOTALLY AGREE...YOU BRING AN HONEST NO NONSENSE APPROACH.....CREAM RISES TO THE TOP....THATS WHY THIS SITE IS SO GOOD.....
Once again my mouth is watering and I'm now craving a full English especially after 2 Stella's 😋However how dare they forget the mushrooms and tinned / grilled tomatoes. Agree about the poached egg should be runny but still looks delicious.
Ah I'm sorry if I've made you hungry again! Get down your local tomorrow and have a full English! Thanks for watching.
Firstly I’m really impressed with the knife cleaning hack before spreading the butter, that’s awesome. The breakfast looks really nice and the egg is perfect (for me) soft but not running into everything. The breakfast is definitely a fair price considering it’s cooked delivered and washed up afterwards and it’s London so reasonably priced.
Great videos keep up the good work 👍
Thank you. I'm glad people have noticed that, little trick I've been using for a while! I'm glad you like the breakfast and hopefully you get to visit Regency at some point. Thank you for your kind comments :)
@@GaryEats i noticed it straight away and thought that’s brilliant, definitely deserved recognition. I’d love to visit these little places and experience the food and ambiance of the southern everyday little spots like this. Sending good vibes from Manchester.
Nice to have a breath of fresh air on these food review channels mate, FairPlay Gary and good luck to you in the future 😎🤝🏻
Really appreciate that kind comment. Trying my best and glad you like it!
Thanks Gary, have been meaning to try Regency myself. Looks good 👍 and prices very reasonable.
Give it a go! Probably earlier as it was quite late when I went. Thanks for watching!
Found your channel a couple of days ago.. like what you're doing..
Subscribed 😊
Thank you so much. Very kind.
Got yourself a new subscriber. Love your presenting style plus that cafe is so much value for money. A rare thing nowadays a business not trying to rip people off. Whenever I’m in London I’ll be visiting the Regency…….that’s for sure.
I really appreciate you subscribing Kevin. Great to have you onboard. I loved the Regency's traditional feel and you're right, it's nice to have a good price in London. All the best.
great channel, beats the big boys, keep going with format, just what the punters want. To the point, concise, great camera and narrative work. Hats off on the professional knife cleaning before buttering the toast. ill remember that one.
Hi Jim. That was the idea when first starting the channel. Everyone is very busy and probably don't have time to be staring at my face for 20 plus minutes so wanted a short but concise format. The cameraman was so confused at first why I did that with the knife but I'm glad someone else recognised it! Appreciate your kind words and you watching.
Great clip again Gary, for London at just £9 i think it should of got a nine, that's an amazing price, i suspect from there appearance the sausage and black pudding were placed in the fryer.
Looking forward to the next one.
Chris.
Thanks Chris. I thought 8 was a bit harsh at the time, 9 would also be fair. Thanks for watching!
New to your channel but loving what you do carry on with what you do all the best ACS
Welcome aboard! Thank you.
hi gary, breakfast looks spot on, good price too.
Hi Andy. Thank you, was good!
Love your content mate watched most of your vids now , thank you from
Me and the
Mrs 👍
Hi Mark. Really glad you're both enjoying my content and I appreciate it a lot. Thanks for watching!
Loving your channel. Great content and a regular guy😀
Glad to hear it and very kind of you!
Wow. Can't beat the price for where you are and quality ingredients too! A real London caf with a real atmosphere.
So true!
That breakfast looked amazing to me.fried slice with an egg on top oh yes please.im a big black pudding fan and that looked good.enjoying all your videos of places to eat in London as im there in august and will definitely be going to this cafe and a few other pubs you’ve been to..I’ll be giving harrods a miss tho…not sure how far your planning to travel but the best black pudding I’ve ever had has been in the highlands of Scotland..bit far for you to go for breakfast I think…great vid again..loving it
Very nice
Wow you have really blown up this last week sure I'd messaged you 7 days ago when you were at 700, subs over 3k now. Well done Gary
Thank you. It's because of people like yourself that I've managed to get this far and I'm so overwhelmed with it. Thanks for being part of the first subscribers.
Gee wiz Gary…you need to come up North to really experience what a good old full English breakfast is!! This was a plate full of baked beans….No No Regency
Coming up north next week most likely. Looking forward to it!
Plenty of beans on there Pal! 👍
More beans than anything else! Was a good breakfast though.
Recently Started following you , love your programme , I'm going to London next year you're doing a great job selling it 👍
Thank you Dave, have a great time in London!!
Proper old school cafe with good food, whats not to like. Great price for London also. Thanks.
Thanks for watching as always, Simon. Yeah, nice cafe and good price for London. Thanks for watching!
Looks delicious, and a perfect-sized portion! Would be wonderful late brunch, a Friday afternoon glass of wine! 😁
Spot on Ian. Thanks for watching!
3.3k Subscribers now!!! You are zooooming Gary!!!! I think you should do your local Wetherspoons, the most ordered Full English in the UK!! GM Rich
Thank you Richard! Too quick for me to handle haha. I will do Wetherspoons very soon. Thanks for watching!
Wayhey! you made it down there, nice one 😁. Looks like you got there late in the day hence the bangers & black pudding being a bit over done. My favourite is the set breakfast extra egg extra sausage with tinned tomatoes...
I took your suggestion on board as well as many others, I hope you enjoyed the video. What did you think of the breakfast!? 😃
@@GaryEats Like you said you got there a bit late, So it wasn't the best reflection on the general quality of their fare. I love the Regency best because it may not offer up a cast iron panned piled to the sky topped with rocket affiars. It is over all the most consistent high quality ingredient honest breakfast i have found in london. It works like a well oiled machine with a friendly welcome.
When you first go in to the cafe Marco asks your name to shout your breakfast out when ready. Then he never forgets your name even if you haven't been in there for a year or two like... lockdown...
We come from the Netherlands and have seen allmost al of your video's. We tried this one today. And we gave it a 10 out of 10. We realy liked the black pudding and the hashbrowns. Also the owner is very nice and good at his job. Lovely place to begin your day.
That’s absolutely fantastic to hear, have a lovely visit 👌👌
Proper cafe! Toast on the side, can't say I like a big puddle of beans,! I could do eat that fried bread 🤩shame the egg was a bit over, I give it a7.5
Fried bread was so good. Fair rating. Thanks for watching!
The River Cafe opposite putney tube station is tremendous.
The bubble is stupendous and really lovely people
Thanks for the recommendation, Ian!
Black pudding and fried slice a MUST for me on my breakfast Gary - hate mushrooms of any kind so I'm sorry Angus but its a no from me on that one too! Just got home from work and could eat that plate right now! The egg needed to be a bit more runny as the fried bread was just sat there waiting to soak up the yolk!! Loads of beans too so something to use the bread to mop up at the end too.....Another great review, great work from you both again, looking forward to the next one.
Agreed. Must haves for me as well. Another person agreeing about the mushrooms. Thank you Joe as always, really appreciate it mate.
Hi Gary. I work nearby and always love to take lunch here when I can. It is an exceptional cafe. I do recommend that you go back one day and have their chips. They're amazing. Their homemade steak pie is also brilliant!
I’ll definitely return as I went too late to do the Regency the respect it deserves 👍
@@GaryEats Great if you could go back to have lunch, would like to see. Will be trying this cafe if I can get back to London.
Hi Gary, I came across your channels and I am started from the bottom working my way up so far. I am here and I’ve got to say that was the best strong cup of tea. I’ve seen yet.i like my tea and coffee strong I would’ve given it 9.1/2 Because I liked 2 sausages 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Welcome aboard Sean. Glad you’re liking the videos, cheers for watching and your comments!
Hi I love watching these reviews , You seem so genuine and calm, and a nice person....... Many on here do reviews but sometimes you just cant "warm" to them. I hope your channel does well.
Hi Joe, I really appreciate that and I'm glad you enjoy watching my videos. Can't believe that I'm nearly at 4000 subscribers, I'm in shock!
❤@@GaryEats
Ha. This brings back memories. I grew up in Page Street, the Street directly behind you when doing your intro. Good times.
Good story mate. Thank you!
Nice review. Sad I never knew about Billingsgate breakfast apparently can include scallops! Would love to see you review. Fryed bread a must on a full English.
Thank you. Haven't had scallops in a while, might have some. Love a bit of fried bread.
I love this channel... hence I'm a new subscriber !!
Yes! Welcome! Really happy you've subscribed and enjoying the videos.
Gary loved the review, I used too live around the corner went their all the time, you forgot too order the Bubble ! The Astra cafe opposite is even better , portions are huge , best steak and kidney pie ever and the pud’s too die for and very cheep , all the cabbies eat there so you know it’s good , love your Chanel! BTW Layer Cake was filmed at the cafe as well as Rocket 🚀 Man .At The Regency Cafe .
Thank you. Glad you like the video. Can't wait to have some bubble at the next café. Didn't get it at Regency as I've had it a lot in my other reviews. Great film. Thanks for watching!
Gary gotta say that looked great value for money a good breki,!! as your subsciber said some mushroons and tinned toms for me but definete 7/10 for me, as ever great video !!
Hi Lee. Always look out for your comments. Yep, can agree with what you said and glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Love the Regency. Use to be my local when I worked just up the road.
Very good cafe.
Gaz I'm loving the do in this one, living for the fringe!
Haha thanks Lisa.
Hi Gary, yes been in many a time. I used to work just round the corner. You need to try Astral Cafe on Regency St. I would say it’s better. It’s full of the skilled black cabbies. Tony is the owner. He’s very kind
A great place Chris.
I wish I had found some of the great places you eat at the 1 time I was in London. I couldn't even find a fish and chips shop. So thank you for sharing these wonderful places.
More than welcome :)
I don't eat meat but Portabello mushrooms are like eating meat - lovely! You can jazz them up with garlic or whatever but, basically, two Portabellos is a meal in itself. You'll be surprised!!!
I adore portobello mushrooms. So good!😋
I live in the Netherlands and I found good Vegan shoarma. Best
It looked really nice, couldn't eat it all myself, keep it up!
Give it a go, Garry!
Fantastic review, Gary! Try fried egg on top of black pudding - it’s fantastic!!
Thank you and will do
I loved going to the Regency, was a bit of a regular at lunchtime as I was working nearby. Really good from what I remember, over 10 years ago.
It's still very good now
Another good video gary keep them coming i am with you no mushrooms
Thanks Steve. Finally someone who agrees with me 👍
Hi Gary, this review is one of only a couple of your older videos I hadn't watched yet, so I put it on over dinner. As soon as I started the video, I had a major flashback & thought... Hang on, that's in Westminster! 😅 I must have walked past the Regency cafe a dozen times during my holiday to London in 2019. I was staying at a hotel that was only a few minutes walk from this cafe. My partner (at the time) really wanted to try it, but the two times we went, the line was out the door & half way down the street, so we didn't actually make it there.
Great to see this review! The breakfast looked pretty good, but you've definitely had some better breakfasts on the channel in recent months I'd say. Take care. 💙
Erin thank you for your lovely comments as always as well as defending me in others
@@GaryEats Thanks Gary. You seem like a lovely man & this is a great channel. I can't help but respond if I happen to see someone being nasty, rude or petty here. Totally unwarranted. 💙
The pure Irish butter makes it complete. I have to give the Regency Cafe a try.
Definitely give it a try!
As always Gary great review keep up the good work….. seeing as you like your steak, you have to go to Goodmans in bank, it’s just around the corner from bank station. Forget hawksmore, flat iron, gaucho the French place you went to….. they are not even in the same league. It will blow your mind 🤯, please do a review there, you will love it and will never look back!
Thank you, really appreciate that. Okay, I'll add Goodmans and will go there over the next month or two. Can't wait, you've got me excited now.
That looked like a plate of baked beans with a bit of breakfast on the side😅. If you hadn't ordered extra black pudding their would have been practically nothing but baked beans
Beans are good for the heart... haha. Thanks for watching!
Oh no! Fried bread and egg, love it one of the best tastes ever.Patrick and Sheila.
Oh yes!
The Regency cade for that amount of money, it's a proper bargain. Here in Epsom Surrey you would pay £12 plus for a breakfast and tea or coffee. Good find Gary, I will def try when I'm back in my neck of the woods!! Also your feedback is bang on, not like some other camera loving reviews on TH-cam!!
Thanks Mark. It's a lovely relic of London and I appreciate it mate. I have a feeling I know who you're talking about as I see this comment a lot, lol...
I was sold after seeing the cup of tea.
Lovely cup of tea. Glad you liked it!
Have baked beans always been an English breakfast staple? That amuses me greatly! I've only ever eaten baked beans for lunch or dinner. No offense, but probably wouldn't try black pudding . . . Love, love, love your videos, Gary! And you always make me hungry!😊❤
Yes they have. Thank you so much 😄
Oh yes. That looks amazing
Great stuff!
Went here last year. Great hidden gem! Did jump at the voice though 😂
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@GaryEats I did and your review and video thanks. Keep up the great work
My favourite Cafe.
Liver Bacon Onions Chips Cabbage and Royal Navy. 😊
Lovely!
The breakfast looks decent enough.
The one thing I hate though, is baked beans (especially juice) liberally running all over my plate.
The beans need to be in a ramekin on the plate, which gives a semblance of order and consistency. I don’t want my bacon swimming in bean juice.
Good video btw.
I've had a lot of people comment this. Some love it and some hate it. I don't mind in all honesty. Thanks for watching!
@GaryEats no worries, just discovered your channel, interesting stuff 👍
Thank you!@@markstarmer3677
beans in a ramekin is just poncy, get a grip. you want chips in a stupid small bowl next .....
@dalek3086 poncy or not, nothing worse than your breakfast soaked in bean juice. Beans are a cheap food, and certain places go overboard with them simply to fill the plate.
M
Not for me thanks.
Don't mind the chips everywhere BTW.
I do like the Regency Cafe and eaten there a few times but I've never quite gotten the hype around it. Maybe its location means its one of the few places a tourist can get to sample a proper fry up in a traditional setting and at a very non Westminster price. In terms of London overall, it's about on a par quality-wise with plenty of other places. Either way, Gary, I've just discovered your channel and love your content, especially the way you mix it up: covering greasy spoons and michelin stars with equal honesty and no evident bias. SUBSCRIBED
Thanks my friend. Veyr kind of you - there's an excellent cafe called Paolo's which I would highly recommend.
Also known for being in the film Layer cake.
Ever go to Arthur's cafe in Dalston, we supplied the bread and cakes to him for over 50 years ... a true legend
I haven't been yet mate. Thanks for watching!
@@GaryEats good luck with going to Arthur’s been closed since 2018
I really enjoy watching vlogs at the Regency, I have yet to see a bad meal.
It's definitely on my list next visit to London, I might even bump into a star in there.? Obviously no one as famous as yourself Gary! 😅
I did notice a few of the items were a little over cooked, which I prefer than being under cooked... I think your score was fair 👍
Great vlog mate! Cheers 🍻
Haha, you're too kind Tel. Really hope you have an enjoyable experience there. No fame here whatsoever, I prefer it to be lowkey haha. Thanks for watching!
Quality food well done Gary.seen other VLOGS eat in there. I must try it one day.
Enjoy!
I was about to say, I never hear of any of these “full” English breakfasts including fried bread… but then you said you’d added this. Quite right too 👍
Hope you enjoyed it John. Love fried bread!
The cafe looked lovely and I do like fried bread. We don't often get it here in our full Scottish breakfasts, we get tattie scones instead!
Can't wait to try a full Scottish breakfast soon! Thanks for watching!
Get over here for an Ulster fry. Assuming tattie scones are like our potato bread.
I visited last week on a Wednesday at 11:30. At 12:00 there was a line till outside. Got there just in time! At first I thought there where 2 people at the counter and I couldn't figure out who was shouting when the order was done. But it was the same lady who took the order with a very gentle voice haha. My eggs were cooked to perfection and squeeky clean. No grease at all and pearl white. Lovely place!
Really glad you enjoyed it!
The best greasy spoon Ive ever been to was in the Avondale on Llangefni High St. They even do chips with your full English if you want. The tea/coffee was a bit steep so we shared a can of Tango and it was about £7 each.
Def recommended if you're passing. The guy's Turkish and he's dead cool because if he already has six breakfasts on the go all at once and if a group walks in and places an order he doesn't panic.
Thank you!!
I used to go there 35 years ago in those days you could park your car right outside.
It doesn’t look like it’s changed in all that time. I think it was only bettered by the House of Commons cafeteria (subsidised I my add) thanks for the memory.
You're more than welcome Tony. Thanks for watching.
Hi Gary you should try the breakfast at ‘My Place’ they have two branches one in Soho the OG and one in Chiswick. Karen
Hi. Wow, didn't know that existed. Made a note and will try to go. Thanks for watching!
That looks more like it after the Harrods so-called Full English, Gaz. ( hope you don't mind being called Gaz ? ) . I go to my local butchers here in Leicester for my sausages , bacon and black pud ( Joseph Morris Family Butchers in Wigston ) , top notch Lincolnshire sausages which are to die for. Considering where you are the pricing is pretty good. Thanks for another great video. Cheers, Daz, Leicester. ☺😋
That sounds lovely mate. Of course mate, you can call me whatever you want (as long as it’s not insulting haha 😂) glad you enjoyed this one more
I've enjoyed all of your videos so far including the Harrods one. I sat here gobsmacked at the Harrods so-called breakfast and especially at that price !! That's what I call "poncey" nosh , give me a home cooked full english anyday of the week over that kind of serving. They are playing on the Harrods name.
The Regency “don’t sit at a table before you have place your order!” Have not been for over 15 years, back then it was packed at lunchtimes. I am sure it’s just as good as it ever was. Great 1930s decor too.
It’s a fantastic cafe Andrew I went at the wrong time
Proper breakfast, with toast and three butter portions and a mug of tea whats not like❤
Exactly, lovely stuff!
Good meal Gary, but I like my egg and beans separated but looked an excellent meal.😊
I also prefer that as well, great minds think alike haha! Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work Gazza
Thank you Wayne
Good spread of baked beans, It all looked yum. When I lived in England back in the sixties fried bread was called French toast, do you not use that term now? Like vids under ten minuets easy to watch.👍
Hi. Yes French toast is also used as well. Thank you, it's a big reason why I decided on this style. Short but concise and doesn't take up much of the day for you. Thanks for watching!
The cafe has been featured as a filming location in several BBC series such as Judge John Deed , Rescue Me and London Spy. It has also appeared in the films Layer Cake, Brighton Rock, Pride, and Rocketman.
Yep. Very very famous!
another great vid. However, it's got me wondering what temperature the weather has to reach in order for Gary to ditch the gilet lol. It's become a permanent fixture of the videos.
Haha, the cameraman did say I wonder when someone notices that you never take your gilet off. In answer to your question, if it gets any hotter... it will be gone!
Thanks for watching!
I just read about this place on the London History Forum, and it sounded your sort of place. Sure enough, you'd already given it a go. As usual greetings from Bali.
Thank you Steve and all the way from Bali 👌
Lovely Cafe i stumbled upon called Beans & Cream In Holloway, Seven Sisters Road N7. Give it a try, its a great take on an full english Gary, they do things different but deffinately excellent food.
I've just taken a look. Bloody hell, it looks good. I see it's a pancake house as well. Thanks for watching!
Nice like your style, look forward to seeing more reviews, one bit of feedback on this one, you said the bacon was really nicely cooked and smoky, but we couldn’t see it, so maybe some close ups of the food piece by piece before you tuckin would be amazing..!!
Hey Gareth. I'll let the cameraman know and get him to get more close ups individually for the future. Thanks for watching!
Always enjoy your reviews, Gary, since discovering your channel a week or two ago, especially as you've already covered several places that I've known about, and fancied visiting, but have never got round to doing so. One thing about these breakfast videos though: black pudding, as far as I know, is just dried pigs blood. Sounds revolting. Would never eat that.
You need to give it a try as it has a brilliant taste 👌
Great channel
Thank you Joseph.
Porkys cafe judt up from Trafalgar Square was a banger back in the day not sure if its still going
That place is superb value for money considering it is in Westminster, so long may it continue. Independent businesses are to be championed (if good). I always try to visit small businesses and avoid the nationals if I can. The fried bread looked lovely. Just a thought, these cafes could give a small pot of marmalade or jam with the toast, like you would get in a B&B, I think it would go down well.
Agreed Allan 👍🏼
recognised this place straight away, the Film Layer cake!!!
Yep. Couldn't sit where Daniel Craig did though. Thanks for watching!
