    Hi everyone.
    Apologies for the red footage during the video. Unfortunately as it's so busy, we couldn't get a seat inside and the only place we could viably sit was here next to the heater!
    Tried another camera but it was still exactly the same so hopefully you can deal with it for a few minutes. Back to normal as of the next upload.
    All the best. 😀

    An amazing place. My travelling compadré (my eleven year-old son) went there a couple of years ago, the breakfast absolutely blew my mind. My son had pancakes, which he still maintains are the finest he's ever had. We went back about a year later; the waitress (THE waitress) remembered exactly what we'd had...having only ever been there once before, a year prior.
    If you've not tried Terry's Café (Borough) - that's equally worth a go. I'd also recommend the café on the same block on the Bethnal Green Road; Café 338. As many seem to do, I went in there during a business trip last year as the queue at Pellicci's, combined with my meeting agenda for the day, didn't allow for a queue. 338 is a worthy shout.

      @JamesOMalley-hb4tf 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@alexp601answering for him as an American obviously the blood sausage is a different thing, as is the baked beans, we have baked beans as a side usually at cookouts etc because it's an easy side like potato salad. Tomatoes are also strange to see for breakfast but I do like and eat everything except the blood sausage. A typical American breakfast has eggs, bacon, ham or sausage usually, hashed browns, which are just shredded potatoes, but large portions of those. My breakfast this morning at a restaurant, two fried eggs over easy, hash browns that I mix with the eggs, three slices of bacon, and biscuit and cream gravy. Bear mind a biscuit here is more like what you think of as a scone, it's not sweet it's savory and the gravy is savory. Sometimes we get toast instead of biscuits and gravy it's so heavy. Some of the stuff on the English breakfast plate are only out of place for breakfast but would be perfectly accepted for lunch or dinner. It's remarkable how similar European peoples tastes are, considering Americans euro offspring.

    • @alexp601
      @alexp601 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@JamesOMalley-hb4tf Thanks for clarifying. The blood sausage is actually more of an Irish breakfast item and not traditionally in an English breakfast, although over the years it’s become a bit more commonplace in England (there’s even white pudding as well black pudding). I’d say hash browns are also something that isn’t traditional but has made its way onto most plates, which is fine by me as I love them. I had the loosely shredded version of hashed browns in a Denny’s years ago, but ours are always pre-formed into patties instead of loose. Generally though it sounds like our tastes are pretty similar.

    I've yet to go to a cafe that serves fresh English pork sausages, the kind you get from farms. Nowadays, most of it is from suppliers who sell those cheap Richmond-like sausages. I remember going to Uni in Portsmouth and there was a lovely cafe (which has now closed) near Fratton station and while it looked like in need of an update, most of the ingredients were sourced from local farms - and it tasted really good.

    When my relatives came to England for my sister's wedding they loved a full English and Roast Sunday Dinners, beef was their favourite and of course Fish and Chips, so much for British food being tasteless.

    Hi Garry. I live abroad but I was in London for 3 weeks in October after an absence of 4 years! You’ve already ticked off 2 of the places I dined in - firstly, the Flat Iron (in my case, the one behind Spitalfields) and secondly, the crème-de-la-creme, Pellicci’s in Bethnal Green! I was fortunate enough to be sat at the ‘Kray’s’ table for my visit to Pellicci’s, and, like you, I was on my very best behaviour! Your scores do both venues justice - and I also came away with a complimentary slab of bread pudding! I was so stuffed after my superb breakfast, I have to confess that rather than waste the pudding, I gave it to one of many homeless persons in London! He was honestly so appreciative and it made me feel good for the rest of the day! Keep up the good work! 😊

    I lived in Bethnal Green for about three years until 1994. I used to pop into Pellicci's on a Saturday to read the paper. This was before it got listed by English Heritage and, from memory, it was just an ordinary cafe with decent grub and friendly staff. I don't remember the hash browns or the huge portion option but I suppose they're new additions. I'm from the north of England so I wasn't aware of any history to the cafe. But a lot of guys, who looked like they could handle themselves, used to come in on a Saturday morning too with their training bags. I assumed they were boxers.

My two indicators of a good breakfast are ... are good eggs, white cooked runny yolk and quality black pudding NOT over cooked. The bacon is almost gammon. Looks like a 10/10 to me too. I would prefer less beans; but that portion was probably to compensate for no mushrooms. I used to eat at two Italian cafés when I was working in Peckham. Good, hearty meals!

    Its so kind of you to detail every aspect of an item from a plate, plus you talk about the ambience, decor, the staff, the bill (very imp. aspect). etc is just so incredibly rare. People tend to talk through food that too like a bullet train but you take your time go slow and explain it well, no matter how hungry you are or how appetizing a meal is. God bless you 🙏. P.S - But, you forgot about the bread on your plate, Oh the lonely bread... “Give us day by day our daily bread” (Luke 11:3). The Word of God which nourished the crowds. (Nice piece of Toast/ bread pudding answered my question 🥲).
