    Hi Chris. I’ve really missed your videos over the last two years and hope you will be back making them before long. My barbel fishing this season has almost exclusively been on the Wye ( five separate weeks ) plus a four day trip to the Trent. I’ve not fished since the last week on the Wye in October, mainly due to the cold weather and river conditions. Hope you are keeping well and it’s good to read that you have been busy at work. It’s been a tough time for so many people with this ongoing epidemic. Keep safe!

      Hello Harry, hope you are well. I've done a little fishing mate but I haven't been videoing it which is a shame because I was fortunate to catch another river twenty pound pike just before Christmas. Determined to get out a lot more this year and hopefully some new waters to have a go at. I seem to have lost my mo jo with it all over the past two years. I had a wood burner fitted last spring and now my main pastime is chainsawing and splitting logs. I've got to get ready for the builder again now for another job in two weeks time, I always seem to have too much to do. All the best mate and stay safe, hopefully I'll have a new video to put up soon if I can remember how to use the camera, best of luck with any fishing you do Harry.

    Two very nice fish on a special river. Great video thanks for sharing your session, always a good watch. Fish two was a screamer. You’ve inspired me to make my next session, a visit to the Swale. Cheers

    Really great to see another barbel video from you. Two immaculate looking barbel so very well done. A shame about the loss of the third fish but these things happen to us all. I’m recently back from a disappointing week down the River Wye where the level was so low at the beginning and then several days of heavy rain which made it rather unpleasant at times. I had 14 barbel in the week but could have been a lot better.

      Thank's Harry, I wish I could get down to the Wye this year but it doesn't look likely. Going to the broads to try for pike in February for a week though so excited about that. 14 Barbel doesn't sound too bad buddy ,all the best mate.

    Hi Chris...I am from the Netherlands and after seeing this I’m going to try as well as I am (mainly) a pikefisher. Never tried barbelfishing as we don’t have fast floating rivers as the Wale. We have some big rivers like Rhine and Waal so I’ll try some luck. What bait did you use. As always love your ‘no nonsense’ video’s. Best of luck Chris and looking forward to see some more piking in the future I hope. Always nice to see when I blank...haha.🍀

      Hello Harry, I've got some footage of some barbel sessions to edit with a little tench fishing included. Had a new pb barbel in October, filmed the fish but not the bite and fight, I fluked it out before I got the camera set up. I've been doing a bit of sea fishing over the past couple of winters from the beach. I've learnt myself to pendulum cast with the aid of TH-cam lol. Going to start editing as soon as I can mate, my main hobby at the moment is chainsawing logs and splitting them with the axe. All the best mate and I'll be back into the swing of it soon.

      Hello Lee, sorry for not putting any videos up for so long. I was down in Oxford last week house sitting and looking after a boarding kennels with my partner. Managed a couple of Tench trips to Linear but blanked both times. Thinking about Barbel now but not until the weather has changed and we hopefully get some rain to top the rivers up. Hi Chris I'm v new to barbel fishing. I was thinking of fishing Cundall Hall fisherie.
    Is it good spit any tips at all

    • @fishermanchris4092
      @fishermanchris4092  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never fished at Cundall Hall mate but I would think it's the same as other parts of the swale. As for tips I would try using a different bait to what everyone else is using. Try going old school and fish hemp and casters in a blockend feeder with casters on the hook. Classic combination that Barbel love mate. Use strong line, don't go lower than 12lb mainline, esp scynchro is good, as for hooklinks for hemp and caster I would use drennan supplex in 10lb. All the best.

      Yes mate, joined a syndicate that has done tench to 13lb, it's not easy fishing but I do like a challenge, the only thing is i'll be mainly fishing for them with a three rod set up bolt feeder fishing with bite alarms. Turned to the dark side at last lol.
      I'm pretty certain I won't be able to resist getting the float rod and centrepin out though, that's my favourite method. Also there is carp to 45lb so a new adventure begins, all the best mate.

      i ment on the the hook bend

    • @fishermanchris4092
      @fishermanchris4092  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No tubing on there mate, just a knot less knot, I'm changing to esp tungsten loaded coated braid in twenty pound bs mate with krank chod hooks. I got broke where the line exits the eye of the hook and I think it's due to the claw effect you get with a knot less knot. When you have pressure on it like a fish pulling hard the line is bent at a tight angle where it exits the eye and eventually snaps. Had this exact thing happen now three times, so with the extra strength of the coated braid and the chod style hook with the eye bend going the opposite way, the line will be exiting the eye straight, so it should help stop this.

I did buy some beachcasting gear and was going to do a couple of videos trying to catch a cod but injured my elbow and was unable to cast. Going to try and get out for a bit of piking mate when lockdown is eased. Hopefully before the rivers close. Got lots planned for this year fishing wise including a really good syndicate I've joined with Tench to 13lb and carp to 45lb, all the best mate, I'll be back.
