  • Reunited with the Jeep, we basecamp out of San Isabel National Forest along the front-range of the Rocky Mountains. I explore Colorado's colorful landscape in mid-June, at both low and high elevations, ranging from high-desert to alpine lakes. I show my process for evaluating backcountry routes in GAIAGPS, and make an attempt to traverse a high-mountain pass, but am thwarted by receding snow drifts.

    I will echo what Chris said near the end in which I feel is more important now than it ever has been. With so many people now using our National Forest's and BLM lands please enjoy it all by following the rules. TREAD LIGHTLY, PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN and carry an extra trash bag to help clean up the messes disrespectful uncaring people have left. By doing so we do our part to help keep our lands open for us and future generations. Remember it's always the few that ruin it for us all.

    • @notreallyme425
      @notreallyme425 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The people that ruin it for everybody should be publicly flogged. Kidding of course, but those people won’t care if they feel they won’t get caught and the penalties are light if they do. It must be getting bad because I’ve seen many over landing channels bringing it up. The good people who clean after others unfortunately enable the bad people who leave a mess. Maybe some public shaming is in order.

    • @bradshutler9356
      @bradshutler9356 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@notreallyme425 2 weeks ago I went to one of my favorite campsites and found that it had been horribly trashed out. Even found a few green trees had been cut down for fire wood. Yeah I did clean it up 6, 33 gal. bags worth of crap plus other crap I had to strap down to the roof rack of my truck, could not believe it and whoever it was pooped all over the place. What can one really say that might get through to people like this? I love this spot and can only hope that those that use it will keep it clean. A forest ranger stopped by and told me this site had been slated for closure but since I cleaned it up they would take it off the list. He said if it continued to be trashed out it would be permanently closed. Only time will tell as to the fate of beautiful enjoyable places. I have cleaned this site numerous times over the years but nothing as bad as this time. Yeah it's really getting bad, friends tell me they are finding the same where they go and in sites we have shared for many years being more heavily trashed. If caught they should be heavily fined and flogged with public shaming, no kidding.

      @notreallyme425 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bradshutler9356 That really makes me mad, but I’m glad you cared to clean it up. Headed out in a couple weeks and I can’t wait! But I guess I better bring some extra trash bags.

    Chris, I’ve been following your channel for years, in fact, I bought a Jeep, teardrop trailer and I’ve been camping quite a bit with my beautiful wife of 33 years married. Just wanted you to know that if you and your lady friend are a team, get her on there with you enjoying the ride. If she’s with you, she’s with us…period. Safe travels my friend.

      There's a difference , you are married, Chris and his girlfriend aren't. There needs to be a commitment. Shannon deserves a commitment of marriage not just living together. I pray they get married soon. A woman deserves a commitment of marriage.

      @@gloriasihlis4932 one thing I know is that it doesn’t take a piece of paper to make your relationship better. I’ve been married 33years but together for 37. From day one she’s been by my side and that’s what only matters to me. I don’t care what other people think. Where I was going with Chris and his road partner, we’re with those two . Life’s too short to worry about what other people think. Happiness isn’t having what you want , it’s loving what you have. Enjoy and inspire. I’m a military veteran that’s had over 15 major surgeries so I can walk again. Watching Chris in his travels inspired me to buy a jeep and off-road teardrop trailer and take my best friend out to enjoy this beautiful country we live in. I just wanted Chris to know we hope he realizes that he does make a difference in people’s lives and hopefully one day he and his partner will just come on out and enjoy the ride with all of us. @@Irishjohnyburke Thank you for your military service. It is greatly appreciated! I'm sorry for what you've endured. It does matter if they are committed and married. It's what God thinks, not what others think. If more people followed God's Word in the Holy Bible our world wouldn't be the mess it is. God designed marriage and family. He sets the rules, mankind doesn't. The problem with our world going the way it has is that people have fallen from God's ways. There is a God who created this beautiful earth and he created marriage as a commitment for life. Every man and woman deserves God's best. Marriage is God's best.

    Chris, thanks for sharing your adventures. I’ve never commented before but we enjoy ‘tagging along’ on a regular basis. I also have a quick question. We use the J-30 top too on our Rubicon and I’m curious if you remove your sleeping gear each time before shutting the top? I always have but noticed that from the outside view in this episode at least it looks like you just smush it down and lock it in? Others on here may also have experience with this that could weigh in? Thanks!

    You really need to get a cordless chainsaw, there are some very capable ones out there. I’d also consider an e-mountain bike so you can extend your range when you run into situations like the trail getting too narrow because of snow.
