I found the original game made me feel depressed to be fair which makes it more impactful but I prefer the more cheerful Clock Town of the 3DS version.
You can mod the 3DS version to bring the original swimming back. There's also a screen filter mod that makes things a bit more grim, which brings back the loneliness too.
I prefer the 3ds version because of the ui, gyro aim and the fact you can change time by hour. The SoH version will likley be my favorite once its as polished as the oot port was.
@alih- wow, I remember coming across this on github one day, but I didn't think that's what it did, So I never really looked into it further that's actually really amazing I'll have to give it a try.
ngl not only do i like the original more but it also feels much closer in style and tone to the manual art. swimming is something i just didn't even notice till people started talking about it, nothing game breaking imo
Ah man i was hoping nobody would notice that haha, i meant this game* but apparently i can't fucking read zelda.fandom.com/wiki/The_Legend_of_Zelda:_Collector%27s_Edition
I don't mind the swimming on 3ds. I always got chateau Romani by that point. I like how you're not accidentally smashing Link's head on walls. I liked that the Giant mask made Link punch, which made sense to me. Why would his sword and shield grow with him in the original and not all his other weapons? I think an alternative to make everyone happy is half or even quarter the time of twinmold, get rid of the silly eye gimmick and make the magic not necessary to swim fast, but only to use the shock attack. Keep the slow swimming as an option because it's helpful at times. It's all preferences though. I enjoyed the differences for what they were. I enjoyed the surprise of "oh wow, that's different."
Gotta add that I loved how the gyorg fight in 3ds would lower the center floor and force you into the water. Honestly I respect the new one more than I would if they kept everything the same. Makes it more of it's own unique game.
That's cool never knew it existed, I don't think I'll ever play it though, I like playing on a physical copy of the game.. also can't wait for the mod to get a takedown notice from big nintendo! Thats gonna be awesome /s
Warning: MM3D hater here so, yeah. Deku link is destroyed since you don't carry momentum on water. Deku palace's moving platforms only move when you land on them. High poly geometry is nice, but messes with the physics engine, famously making you fall down as deku link to reach a ledge in Snowhead. Moon face just looks... comically angry. Versus the complex negative it felt. Gyro is awesome! Perfect! Bravo! I hate the n64 analog stick aiming. Ice arrows lose most of their value and their sparkles give away secrets. Zora swimming, obviously. I don't like the saving, but it isn't objectively bad. I prefer most of the graphics on n64, but I also grew up with n64 graphics so... Over-brightening ruins atmosphere in many places. Gyorg has really finicky new phase. Fits with the new swimming. Song of Double Time is GREAT, awesome change! Bomber's notebook is a little better, but interrupts so much more than the little jingle on n64. Music is kinda washed out, I prefer the sharper synths, but again, not objectively bad. Twinmold 1 3d is a good idea. Then they screwed with the giant's mask... However, mm3d also still had many things it didn't fix. Like the inventory issues, or song encores.
MM3D is a remaster, not a remake. All Nintendo did was give Grezzo the N64 version's code to modify. People have known this for almost a decade- it's not a secret to everybody. Calling MM3D a "remake" is like adding new paint and tires, and saying you "made a new car." An actual remake like Link's Awakening on Switch was coded, R&D, and built from scratch. If you can't get basic terms correct 15 seconds into a video, you shouldn't be making videos. Thanks.
Okay to your credit the Nintendo website calls it a remaster but literally no one else does. And i played both of the games to make this video, i didn't use the word remake lightly, the two games are far to different for me to believe they just through on a new coat of paint as a remaster. MM3D is like 2008 Toyota corolla and the n64 version is a 2001 Toyota corolla, same car different make. Anyway your argument is invalid; citation required
I preferred breath of the wild 👍
its okay to be wrong
64. Next question.
But I wish I could do Majora stuff for a uni assignment.

PC port next question.
Joking aside for beginners I would recommend 3D with the restoration patch
good video

master quest was only OOT, and OOT was nearly all positive on the 3ds.

You’re right, the original is much better
The thumbnail is a pink anime man fighting with a slice of toast in his mouth I refuse to hear otherwise.

Bonus video idea. Include mods and emulation and the decomp.
What are your thoughts of Project Restoration?
