Be sure and check inside door frame payload capacity. I bought a 2018 1172. I overbought. This unit caused my front end to almost come completely off the front wheels! 2006 GMC 4X4 dually one ton. My payload sticker was washed out badly. I tried hard to get people to help me figure Lances weight figures worksheet! Never happened. I was dumb-smitten honestly.
Few learning curves. Make sure frig and/or bathroom Doors are firmly closed before bringing the slide out back in.
The rear basement door. Get used to hitting your head lots and lots.
Under no circumstances, even if it’s just for 10 minutes, never park your unit on any sort of incline. If you do your safety gas valve will shut off to your refrigerator. Also, do not attempt to operate slide outs. The manual warns users not to use slide outs unless completely level at all times. this makes it hard for senior citizens who need to get into the bathroom. as there are many places that will have you leaning someway or other that can cause the slide out system to malfunction. The emergency procedures that you have to follow are very difficult. They are very stressful as well. Be warned. you cannot get into the bathroom without opening both slide outs. This does not make a good camper for In-N-Out use in my opinion. It’s more of a base camp model.
The electric cooling fan behind your refrigerator, will come on continuously interfering with your sleep, it will also drain your batteries within 22 hours if not paid attention to.
My 2022 GMC 1 ton Dooley indicates 5436 payload on the inside of my door frame. If I planned on towing or adding anything to the truck itself I would not consider any truck less than a 450 even a 550. I say this as the larger trucks offer bigger brakes stronger braking power and overall a safer driving experience without having to spend lots of money on suspension upgrades leaving you unable to stop in emergencies as well as controlling sway.

Hey, Brad! We watch all your reviews and enjoy seeing them all. One thing you might want to consider adding is a "road side pit stop rating". We saw a Host Mammoth camper about 6 months ago that we might have liked to have, but in order to get into it to pee while on the road, we would have to put out all 3 slides. No thanks then.
We travel for basically an entire day before we make a stop for the night. During Covid, going into public rest rooms is not something we want to do. We are thankful to have our own protective little bubble to travel with. I love it.
Some truck campers allow you to get in while at the side of a road, or in a quick rest area or parking lot stop. Some surely do not.
We bought (and would have gotten a Lance if one were available in our are, inventory has been super low) a 2019 Eagle Cap truck camper and without the slide out, we can still get in, access the rest room, even make a sandwich, etc. Being able to make a quick lunch stop is important to us, plus if we end up spending a night in a Walmart parking lot of something like that we might not want to call attention to ourselves and have the slide out. Note we would have bought something brand new, but we were lucky to even find a used camper nowadays.
So, your "pit stop rating" would be very welcome to us, and perhaps several other travelers.
You do a great job with your reviews and we watch every single one of them. Thank you.

      @itsbrad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Good info, and thank you very much! The 1172 is not accessible with slides in, I’m pretty sure the only one with slides that I’ve been able to weasel my way to the bathroom and kitchen is the 855s. (Had to suck in my belly though lol)

We have a Host Mammoth with 3 slides and do have to press two buttons at the same time for 3 seconds to open 2 of the slides to use the bathroom. Very easy for us to use on the road. Also we enjoy the safety and security aspect of this so if someone breaks into the door they can’t access the camper and all our belongings with the slide securely in the way.

I think owning that Lance 975 has changed your presentation quite a bit. Now, as an owner & user of these campers- you 'get' the importance of each of the items that you show- for us viewers, it's a real value added feature. Before, your enthusiasm was based strictly on the sale of a unit, now you appreciate the quality, functionality & improvements made, model over model and year over year. Slides can also break and, in my case, be damaged by a tire blowout. The repair bill would have been a few hundred dollars but they had to manually take the slide apart to remove it which added another $4000+ to the bill.

Wow, what a camper! There was really nothing I didn't like or want to change, except the black graphics on the outside. Love the dry bathroom, and the kitchen sink area is well thought out. The odd thing was the external antennae cable hookups are inside a big flat door (exterior compartment) so that means you have to leave that panel door open if you hook to a cable(?) Hope I'm wrong but that seems kinda hokie, design-wise.

Nice camper............I like all the exterior storage which is normally nearly non-existent on truck campers. Interior looks very livable.
I have mixed feelings on the new acrylic windows. I have one of the Dometic acrylic windows on the front of my 2018 Lance trailer. They are nice as they let in a lot of light, have good insulating qualities, and open really wide. That being said, they are fragile and scratch very easily. You have to clean/polish them with special window cleaning solutions and a microfiber cloth so you don't scratch the window while you clean it. No Windex and paper towels here. There are folks on the Lance forum that are finding that replacing one of these windows that are a few years old can be problematic and very expensive as some of the earlier window models have gone out of production (including my window).

Love it Brad. That’s pretty much the same as the one we ordered. Same interior colours. Only difference is the options we picked. We went with the regular microwave and oven, 2 lithium batteries, 2 solar panels, propane generator, tankless water heater, LTE cell phone extendable antennae, roof racks. Do you know what size that TV is? I’m not sure. I’ve never seen a blu ray player option in any type of RV. We bought our own 12V portable blu ray to plug into the TV in our 992.
Thanks for the tour. I really like the new type windows and the black accent and the standard features especially the 4 season package.
I’m also curious as to why they deleted that rear side window though.

Also, have tankless hot water at home, love it, no more cold showers when I'm last. Hopefully the mobile tankless works well and can keep up with the demand. Take care.
