Lets look at how to plan, manage and execute the restoration of a boat. Includes some of the ideas and tips I have utilised on my Caribbean / Bertram 23.

Yeah totally it can be hard to see the Forrest from the trees, but in time it will keep getting better. Same with yours. Let's touch base end of next year and see where we both ended up!

With older boats you're constantly looking for the best way to get it dialed in (mechanically) as well as being mindful of common issues. Forums and threads can help but ultimately it the owners experience that matters most.
yes absolutely and it takes time to trust these old boats. you slowly build up your trust each trip. i have had several old boats (with new engines etc) that I have trusted 100%.
Restoration of an older boat is one thing, as in hull repairs, engine replacement, etc. etc. But do we list things like how the electronics are mounted as restoration?
When sorting the wiring out. Create a wiring diagram so it you need to fault find in the future you know what all the different colour wires do. Mounting the side pockets of brackets is a great idea much better than self tappers straight into the side ribs.
thicken fiberglass resin to any consistency (even thick paste / body filler) by adding filler products. can also be injected into hard to reach areas with oral syringe
Bloody good video and will unashamedly be stealing some ideas ya bought up to be going on with. Starting to look real sharp. Yeah I am gonna ditch the padded siding on mine and go for gloss epoxy white just makes it easier to keep clean and all internal surfaces will be the same gloss white. Be interested what marine grade wire you have used for wiring lights etc. One thing I did discover the other day was when they put windlass in one of the through bolts got something to bolt to but other two have nothing so that's gonna have to come off so as to glue some suitable ply in there to spread the load. Only good thing they did was run the cabling. Also have to big OLD inverters to remove from stern area as new one will be up around Helm area. Also had a win after rummaging around in the boxes that came with the Family Yacht managed to locate the Helm Station washer, Nut and Key way ;0) Like the chart plotter mounting nice easy solution. Keep at it and let's be Carrying on now. :0)
Yep good stuff! Yeah I honestly was going to re do it all in vinyl then I thought, stuff it I want absolute hassle free everything! So far so good. It's hard to find genuine marine grade wire tbh, but it does have different levels of metals etc to reduce corrosion. I mean it will all go bad eventually, so anything new is going to be better than old. All modern wiring is basically much much better. The old stuff goes green quickly and while it will still show full voltage, it will lose all ability to carry amperage and electronics will start acting funny and failing for no particular reason, but that's actually why. Not enough Amps. Good luck!

Always add slightly more hardener to all filler / fiberglass products as ive had them literally NOT go off and never set! absolute nightmare

other tips: for any holes exposed to water, always pre-drill, fill with marine glue then screw.

Remove lots of moisture and water from your water logged timbers by running de-humidifier in your boat if its sealed up!
First thing, quit your job or go part time. So much time and effort.
