The story at 1:56 about Tony Gwynn was worth the time spent watching this video. I grew up in Ohio and as a youngster naturally was biased toward Pete Rose and his career, as I got older and the proliferation of cable channels started I got to see Tony Gwynn more, and if anyone was to break Pete's record as all time hits leader I WANTED IT TO BE TONY GWYNN! Watching him hit was amazing. He was so patient at the plate and there was no wasted energy.
478 saves, career 132 ERA+ for Lee Smith. Long career as a closer, his final year was with Montreal in 1997. I watched him warm up one day when I was at Dodger stadium and the Dodgers were playing the Cubs. His pitches were very fast at that point in his career. He was a great closer during his time with the Cubs. He was good with the Cardinals too.
Wow great Lee Smith story. Every player I hear talk about him says mean pitcher or quiet guy. Pedro sat by the mango tree Lee sat listening to the organ after the game.
Hi Pedro. I love your brother Ramon too! As a Dodgers fan, he was so low key, but get the job done. I saw some of the most dominating performances against the Padres in playoffs. I miss him and you in Dodgers uniform.
I was sucked into your channel when i saw you with Donny Baseball!!! Love the way he explained Kirk Gibson tearing up the field. Met him in person he was huge!!!
I like Mike Oz, these videos are fantastic, he does a great job and I get that he's a young baseball fan, but sometimes I wish he had a little bit more knowledge. John Burkett had a decent career. Won 22 games in '93 on a team that won 103 games and failed to make the playoffs. A 15 year career with 166 wins is something to be proud of.
Pedro's story makes no sense on 2 levels. He and Lee Smith were teammates in Montreal in 1997 only . 1. Lee Smith was not the closer on that team, Urbina was. 2. That was one of Pedro's best seasons, he was an established pitcher and at no point was he in a such a slump that he would asked his manager to send him to the minors. That was his free agent year and his ERA never rose over 2.00 the entire year
I remember watching a Red Sox game and John Burkett was in the dugout and I swear he was smoking a cigarette. I could be wrong but that's what it looked like. Nobody and I mean nobody looked as intimidating as Lee Smith walking to the pitchers mound except for maybe Pedro or Randy Johnson. Different reasons. Randy was big scary ugly, Lee was big scary mean, and Pedro was big scary you getting one run if you lucky today.

this is WONDERFUL!!!!!
Would’ve been funny if he pulled a don zimmer card
...and said 'that's a guy I'd like to hit with the baseball'
EXACTLY
Great story about Lee Smith. Now Lee Smith is a Hall of Famer. I enjoyed watching him here in Chicago in the 80s. Was a great closer.
These videos are truly great.
That Lee Smith story was great. Pedro is awesome. He was feisty in his playing days.
These videos are so awesome!
I saw the eck episode at the bottom of a web page and now I'm here. Yahoo, you should try to get some more exposure for this show, I think it's great!

Hooked on watching these. Make some more. Hurry.
His attitude towards the players made this more fun
Great show. Love how you get these stars to feel comfortable enough to share so. much.love these stories
Lmao @ 2:54 it sounded like he called him "an asshole person" and "phony", but he really said "an awesome person" and "funny".
I've been leaving comments about that all over this video.
John Burkett had a nice career. 166 W, and some very good years with the Giants including 22 W in '93.
Hey - sharing good philosophy Pedro learned, plus funny lines at the end! Great stuff! I learned something!
What a great concept for a show.
How are these not getting more views, they are very interesting

Great advice people, if you're ever down in the dumps don't worry. The organ will continue to play. 😂😂🤣😂😂🤣
Are you making fun of him and his story.
@ 2:58, it sounds like he says, what an asshole person.
I guess I am, and?
@Bipolar Bryan Even the guy standing beside him probably also thought that he said, "what an asshole person."

Love it
Captioning says good smooth veins lol 3:29
How did the Dodgers ever trade away Pedro Martinez?

We all heard it. Pedro hates the Dodgers too.

I hope Ron Darling separates himself from Keith Hernandez.
Ron sounds better than the other clown!
