    That's nice that you get to use the guest gym and use they guest track. You must be on a special contract. The crewmembers have to use the crew gym and aren't allowed in guest areas at all unless you are working. I started our working as a junior waiter but then later on worked in the medical center as a secretary so I was a striped officer and was allowed to use some of the guests amenities.

    • @austinjones3856
      @austinjones3856 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Personally I feel it’s totally unfair that only certain staff members or striped officers can access all the guest areas. I myself felt like a nobody when I was working as a restaurant steward. It was low-paying, not many perks or benefits, rarely was able to eat in the guest restaurants, and had some bad experiences with my head dept manager. Why can’t cruise ships be fair to ALL their crew members, and treat them the same as officers. Not fair for people in entry-level positions to get the crappy cabins, less quantity of food, and such minimal pay. 🤦🏼‍♂️

      That will never be shown because it will hit the news and there will be a media frenzy on how bad conditions are for the majority of cruise ship crews.
      Their life is essentially 11 hours of work a day, you’re not allowed out of crew areas, you work 9-10 months without a day off, you get no pension, you get no sick pay, you do not get paid when you’re off the ship even if you’re a permanent employee and returning and all of this at the great, great salary of $4/hr (and you don’t get tips).

    I wish people would make videos where they show the honest truth about working on a cruise ship that after all is said and done you’re probably making about eight dollars an hour making really lousy tips if any because there’s always someone above you who is in charge of collecting the tips and then they count them up pocket a bunch of money from selves and then distribute whatever is left over. You’re not going to get work rich working on a cruise ship I’ll guarantee you that. I guess it’s a good way to save money if you don’t mind making only six or eight dollars an hour for work that you would be making $18 an hour era resort somewhere on the lamb.

      There are a lot of different truths. For most of the crew their day is long and busy. I'm a musician on ships, i only work at night so my port days consist of me going ashore, exploring, eating nice food and drinking cocktails. My sea days involve me lounging around in my cabin watching Netflix. People with jobs like mine are the ones making videos, because no one is bragging about working for 14 hours.
