- Some footage of one of the deadliest things I've ever been within 100 feet of.. this whirlpool was NO JOKE... Water and HUGE debris go down and come out on the other side! In this video you see a couple of HUGE logs buckets and hedge apples go down this hole!

I live in Englewood and have been running at the metropark nearly everyday for the past 7 years. The whirlpool is not a rare thing after a week of rain, but it’s never been that pretty in the park while the whirlpool was occurring.
Fun fact: the civil engineer who designed the Englewood Dam was chosen for his work on the Hoover Dam after Dayton, OH flooded.
@fakeflip It's not a lake, but there is a spill-over "lake" / marsh to the East of where the Stillwater River is dammed. The dam hold back excessive water from going towards downtown (just a big pile of dirt with a narrow tunnel for water to go through). The whirlpool you see is the water going into the tunnel when it's been completely flooded.
It's been very dry recently although there was some standing water in it a few weeks ago after lots of rain. It doesn't follow the seasons however, and instead, is entirely dependent on recent rainfall.
@fakeflip It's unnatural insofar as this is only happening because humans built a dam over a river to hold back excessive rainwater. But it's entirely natural because it's just fluid dynamics in action.

Did you watch the video & see when the drone went over to the other side of the levee & showed the water gushing out? That water was coming from the drain on the other side.

Just like hurricanes and tornadoes. They can be really pretty far away, but when you actually feel the force of it, it's a whole different story. LITERALLY.

I believe the world could learn something from the Netherlands. Imagine if all the inland water ways were recut from side ditches, creeks, rivers, ponds, lakes, etc. Water displacement, giving the water a place to go and make it unobstructed. The dredged rich soil could fill in low lands like fields.

If by your question you mean diving into the whirlpool, trying to hold your breath, & hoping you come out on the other side before your breath of oxygen runs out and your body demands a fresh intake of air... then yeah I'm fairly certain it would be a deadly experiment. Did you see how it managed to pull in a white 5 gallon pail? That thing desperately tried to stay on the surface, being full of air. Human lungs hold significantly less air than that pail, so it would pull you down even faster.
Then there's the fact that a whirlpool is a rotating (although stationary) vortex. Basically an underwater tornado. It would rapidly spin you in circles as it's pulling you down to wherever it ends. No chance of being able to hold your breath against that kind of force.
