Awesome range of boats, by Targa. I crossed Lyme Bay (UK) in my T32 once, with a swell of 2-3m, once 4m, from my starboard aft quarter. The speed rose from 11kts at the top of a wave, to 17kts at the trough - amazing experience. It took 3hrs instead of 2hrs, but the memory lingers on.
A Targa 42 participated in a race around the UK in 2008. Second Leg a force 7 gale hit, forcing the other race boats to cancel the second leg and completing it by road. The targa completed the full course.
You're right, This yacht would be the perfect yacht to go out by yourself or with a partner. Really beautiful and it can handle some rough sea. Nice choice
Great video - would be very interested in your take on the Nelson hulls from folks like Dale, Seaward and North-Line in Holland. (Also the non-TT Designs of Mursell as made by Duchy.)
Hi, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for your feedback; I appreciate it. I will certainly add the Nelson hulled vessels to my list of videos to make. Hopefully I will be able to bring you some videos from the behind the helm of these vessels in the not-too-distant future as well (preferably in some heavy seas).
What do you think of the Elling E6 l have a Doral Boca Grande and if I ever win the lottery my wish list for spending more time on is this one or a Fleming58 as you have a lot more time at sea love to know what you think, thank you for your blog all best John Beard
I love the E6. I made a video about it which you can find on my channel. The E6 would be one of my top boats to cross the Atlantic on during the rough weather season. Where is your Doral Boca Grande kept? I love the Fleming's as well. A proper 'little ship' set-up. Thanks for watching the video and thanks for you comment :-)
Mate - do a review of the Aussi-built Riviera 72 sport motor yacht (SMY). A yacht that can truly do it all. Fishing. Diving. Cruising. Speed. Distance. Sea keeping. And has a 3,300 mile range when cruising.
Would love to see this on some nasty weather plowing through swells and white caps. Running in glass top smooth water doesn't show its potential for safe operations.
yes Targas have amazing sea going specs!!!! would would you also do a video on Sargo 36 Fly... every where i am seeing that Sargo tops Targa even though Targa is considered the SUV of the Seas!!
It depends on your speed and the sea conditions. I think that, if you cruised at around 20kts in relative calm sea states, then you should get around 500nm out of her. But don't quote me on that.
Hi - thanks for watching the video and asking the question. Due to the size and class of the boat, I do not think that having a steel or aluminium hull would make her more rigid in tackling rough seas. Steel is obviously stronger, but weighs much, much more so would not be practical. An aluminium hull would be lighter, but I do not think that it would be as tough as the GRP, which is important when you are nipping around at 30 kts+ - just in case you hit something in/on the water.
I do not like a fly bridge I would love to have a back transom control center so when I'm doing fishing I hate fly bridge please comment back and what does something like this boat sell 4 would love to know thank you so much for this video the boat is gorgeous
Hi, thanks for the comment and for watching the video! I am fairly sure that Targa would facilitate fitting some controls on the transom. They are around £600k ($823,000 USD)
Thanks for the comment and for subscribing! It's comments like this one which spur me on to make more videos! As far as I am aware, the flybridge is a standard feature of this model. Although I am fairly confident that Targa would accommodate buyers who perhaps would prefer no flybridge...But don't quote me on that lol Again, thanks for subscribing and for the positive feedback :-)
@@YachtBuoy Not that I disagree that there are no pleasure craft with a self righting design. You find it primarily in lifeboats. But, that would be an Outstanding design. Careful with the hyperbole.
The Targa is more for short-range, fast passages, whereas Nordhavn boats tend to be designed more for long-haul passages. But both are equally as seaworthy when it comes to offshore cruising.
I would like to see a Targa 46 in proper rough sea's. Go do it...
Roger that 🙌 hopefully soon 🌊🌊🌊

I never knew that. I would of loved to have been on that Targa 42. I will have a look and see if I can find any footage etc

Yes, please! Targe 35, as well. Love that with IPS.
I certainly hope so . We have similar taste in boating and the Targa 46 could do it all in your hands .
That is exactly why I watched your video. I would very much like to see this boat in action. I'm planning on purchasing in 4 or 5 years. Thanks 😊
Thanks for your comment and thanks for watching the video! Good luck with your future purchase 🙌
Yes Sir , please do the Targa video running in rough seas. I also like Trawler style vessels.
🙌
I’d love to see more videos about this boat 👍
Sure thing 🙌
A Targa 46 in some heavy seas would be a brilliant bonus in this awesome boat!
100% :-)
Would love more videos on Targas
Watch this space :-)
I would love to see a Targa review and some heavy weather shots
Botnia has indeed made a sexy beast with this one.

Congratulations for your "tough boats" channel! Greetings from Portugal.
Thank you very much! And welcome aboard :-)
Looking forward to seeing that sea trial
Hopefully, in some rough weather

46 on the big waves?

I will check it out
Must see such footage!
I have emailed them so fingers crossed 🤞 really want to do a sea trial on one in some heavy seas
Would love to see this on some nasty weather plowing through swells and white caps. Running in glass top smooth water doesn't show its potential for safe operations.
That would be cool!
Would love to see more upclose video's of the botnia 46.
Hopefully I will be able to shoot a video onboard one soon 🤞 I just need to speak to Targa
I enoy your reviews and would like to see a comparison between Targa, Sargo, Nord Star and Elling comparable.
Hi, thanks for the feedback - I appreciate it :-) I will add your suggestion to my list - sounds like a great idea.
yes please do this comparison
@@ronaldxyz1001 I would love to! Might speak to the respective boatyards and see if I can do a walk around of each one
Yep, it's category B
Very solid boat! Like a spear piercing through waves!
BTW, the new Nordhavn 51 has just made its debut. Pls consider making an episode about that!
Love that description of the Targa 🙌 funnily enough, I was looking at the N51 only yesterday. I will definitely make a video about the N51

Sure 🙌 Sargo is one of my favourite boat builders

1 question :
Targa is a fiberglass boat.
What if it was steel or aluminum built?
Would it be more rigid in tackling rough sea?

Hi there. Thanks very much for replying.
Would you tell me what GRP is?
Sure - it stands for 'Glass Reinforced Plastic' - which is basically another name for fiberglass
@@YachtBuoy
Oh thank you for the information.
🌻🌼🌺
Theres also a company called brizo yachts, made in Finland. Their boats are aluminium. Never seen any in the real world tho..
Yes targa46

Also check out the Artic Commuter 34 - its a fantastic boat and extremely durable. Very fast as well.
@@YachtBuoy Yeah I rather have a bigger boat then a smaller 1 by 1 time when I know what I have thank you for this video

Flybridge is standard but all Targas are made according customers orders. Here is video without flybridge: th-cam.com/video/14Ygw-LU6kE/w-d-xo.html
Yes please
🙌
Outstanding would be a boat which rights itself if capsized.
i'm not aware of any non-commercial vessels with that capability - the cost would be too high for most buyers.

Elling E3, E4 and E6 have that capability
how would this compare to a Nordhavn

You're welcome
Is it for sale
Hi Sir, did you find out what category the Targa 46 is sailing at ... and what is the highest category to sail really bad stuff 10+ meter waves?
£1.1m .....worth every penny
Nope
Yes, get on a Targa 46 and rip it..
Would love to lol - There is always some gnarly weather where I live. Just need the Targa now lol
