If these are the most worn out shoes you've seen, then this should shock you: My last pair was SO worn I could literally make out what my foot looked like just by looking at the bottom of the shoe.

The back of my work boots are wore down super bad on the outer side but only in the back heel. So my left boot looking at it from the back the left or outer side heel is wore down and the right boot the right or outer side is wore down and I mean the inside is a inch thicker than the outside so would that be overpronation or Supination ? Also with the corrective inserts would I want the thicker part on the thicker side or the thinner side ?

My heel is bald/smooth almost exclusively across the heel straight across

Hi, I find your video informative. I'm wondering if I'm overpronating too much and might need motion control shoes. Could I get my insight into my shoe wear pattern?

For sure. You can send some photos of your shoes (bottom like in the video) to me at tony@runnersconnect.net

I get other heel wear on both sides. The wear on top is central but slightly out. I think that is normal protonation correct?

So you didn't cover my wear. My wear is always medial; ball, hallux, arch, and heel. I have no arch and in the last couple years I've noticed my medial ankles falling inward with age & weight gain. Early 30s and overweight with no arch whatsoever.

What kind of shoe would someone need if the wear pattern is pretty severe on the 5th metatarsal and outer side of the heel? I need to know because I've had 3 knee surgeries and my doctor said it's mostly because of my running shoe choice.

Hi Dylon in my extensive experience of fitting out thousands of runners excessive wear along the lateral side of the outsole or the fifth metatarsal and on the outside of the calcaneus (ankle bone) usually corresponds to that of supinator or an underpronator or someone who "rolls" out too much and much of the loading of the toes in the propulsive phase of running is borne by the second and the third metatarsal. Podriatrists typically attribute this to the runner having a cavus foot or high arch with a high navicular region hope this info helps

The shoes you would be looking at if you have a high arch are neutral shoes with maximum cushioning because you don't have what is colloquially known as an "arch" or the abductor hallucis the majority of your body weight is being borne by heel and your metatarsals. Shoe such as the Brooks Glycerin, Asics Nimbus, Mizuno Wave Sky, New Balance 1080, Nike Zoom Vomero, Adidas Ultraboost etc would work well.
