Hi John, I’m really glad that you are posting these videos. I understand when people get excited about their results and want to push it to other people. I myself got sucked down into the juicing- fruit only- avoid fats trap and while it seemed to help at first, it ended up leading to even more issues months later. My health deteriorated quickly, I developed at on of gut issues- no longer able to digest basic meals, and my nails and hair were very thin. Depending on herbal supplements and enemas to go to the bathroom. Luckily I was able to get better once I reintroduced sweet potatoes and steamed veggies. Today I eat less fruit- more starches, lots of veggies and still pretty high raw. This works for me at the moment . But the damaged that the dogmatic way of thinking that all cooked food is toxic is very damaging to the mind. I believe a lot of these people following these diets and pushing for them are very scared and sick themselves. And yes some of them have found a career out of selling their programs so now they must stick to their claims- who knows what they do behind closed doors. Just my thoughts.
I wish everyone happiness and health. ❤

I know what many of them do behind closed doors. Eat fish. Smoke a lot of pot. Use women. Get lots of facelifts etc but promote how raw food keeps you young 😂Oh the list goes on. Once you see behind the curtain of some of the “influencers,” you just can’t unsee stuff.

Hey John - I published a raw vegan book in 2021 and had a pretty good sized following on IG. Also invested in the amazing training from your friends in Santa Rosa. I eventually stopped posting because the movement became so saturated with fruitarian types who were so insufferably dogmatic and full of eating disorder mentality, I no longer wanted to be part of it. I saw the whole environment as UNHEALTHY and participating felt counterproductive to my own health goals. I can't imagine building a whole career on raw food. I still eat about 90% raw just like I have for over ten years now. But I find so many claims by the few influencers left to be bogus. One in particular (whom I believe you very carefully alluded to) enables this type of disordered thinking on his ridiculous private FB page, which I am a member of. It's a shame. Raw food is powerful medicine, but the message is clouded by a lot of crazy rhetoric.

    • @okraw

Thank you for sharing your experience, and I completely understand where you’re coming from. It’s disheartening to see how the raw vegan movement has become saturated with dogmatic and extreme rhetoric that can overshadow the incredible health benefits raw food can provide. It’s especially frustrating when this type of environment pushes away thoughtful voices like yours.
That said, I truly believe that your perspective is exactly what the movement needs. Your balanced approach, years of experience, and understanding of how to sustain a healthy raw diet are invaluable. The misinformation and disordered thinking you’ve described thrive in part because there are so few who stand up to challenge it. If more people like you share their knowledge, it could inspire others to follow a realistic, evidence-based path rather than falling into the traps of extremism or giving up altogether.
You’ve already made a significant impact with your book and your journey, and I’d encourage you to continue sharing your story, even if in small ways. You don’t have to be part of the noise to make a difference-your voice can bring clarity to those who are genuinely seeking guidance.
Raw food truly is powerful medicine, as you said, and the message deserves to be represented by those who prioritize health, sustainability, and compassion over dogma. I hope you’ll consider rejoining the conversation in whatever way feels right for you. Together, we can ensure that a balanced and healthy approach to raw veganism isn’t drowned out by the extremes.
Keep inspiring and being an example of what’s possible. You’ve already made such a difference!

So glad you put out this video. You’re absolutely right, everyone is different when it comes to what we should put in our bodies. I’ve been a raw foodist before,it was great the first few months and then I started getting too skinny. I’m not a big eater and to be a raw foodist you need to eat big amounts of fruits and vegetables plus take expensive supplements. What I’ve noticed throughout the years is what was mentioned in this video, you need to tweak once in a while and change what you eat in order to have the right vitamins in your body.

Wow, what a passionate and informative video! As a vegan activist, this individual is clearly dedicated to spreading awareness about the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle. Here are some key takeaways from their rant:
    1. **Dont get oversold**: The speaker emphasizes the importance of not being misled by exaggerated claims about the raw vegan diets ability to heal all ailments or cure diseases. They urge viewers to be skeptical and do their own research.
    2. **Modifying your approach is okay**: Rather than insisting that the raw vegan diet must be followed rigidly, this individual encourages viewers to adapt and evolve their lifestyle as needed. This could include incorporating some heat-processed foods or animal products in small amounts.
    3. **The importance of regular testing**: The speaker stresses the value of getting regular blood tests, microbiome tests, and other health checks to monitor ones health and make adjustments accordingly.
    4. **The need for a balanced diet**: While they acknowledge the benefits of a plant-based diet, this individual also recognizes that some people may require additional nutrients or energy from heat-processed foods or animal products.
    5. **Critique of the raw vegan movement**: The speaker takes aim at other raw vegan channels and advocates who make false claims or oversell the benefits of their diet. They encourage viewers to critically evaluate information and seek out evidence-based advice.
Overall, this video is a great example of a passionate advocate sharing their expertise and experience with others. Its a refreshing change from some of the more extreme or dogmatic views within the vegan community!

There are so many lies being spun, exaggerations and it WILL all come crashing down along with those who blindly follow. I never knew much about your until last year and you have helped me be at peace being high raw vegan and not fully. It is a beautiful path, I feel happier than ever and MORE liberated. Yep, sadly many lie about what they eat because they want to portray a certain image. Sometimes it's not consciously though I think. I was high raw for 10 years, and then I for various reasons started to eat more cooked food again, but in my mind I was still thinking of myself as eating a high raw diet until I did a reality check and realised that the only raw things I ate were pretty much smoothies. So sometimes I think that you are so used to saying that you eat a certain way even if you have swayed away from it quite far.
Now I'm back on a high raw diet again and it feels so good. I've not been in a good place food-wise for the past two years so my body is so grateful. This is what I want to eat. It took swaying away from it far too much to realise it.

Now that we know better it's time to be healthy again and eat meat only.

Raw vegans claim all their health issues disappeared once going fully raw. Carnivores claim the same thing. My assessment is that changing the diet in a dramatic way causes a temporary resolution of health issues. I say temporary because their health problems will reappear some months later or they’ll have new ones. What I’ve learned in my 50 years is that what works for me now might not work 5 years from now, so I need to be flexible.

    • @henrikpetersson3463
      @henrikpetersson3463 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Most elimination diets will heal you since you eliminate what's killing you. I don't agree that the issues usually reappear after a while. At least that's not my experience. There will however be other issues if you continue eating a diet made for immediate healing long term. I see this all the time. People go on a detox/cleansing diet and eventually feel great, want to continue feeling great so they continue with the same diet. But it rarely works long term. Calorie deficiency is especially common with those who eat raw. Learning to eat raw that's sustainable long term is a different game. The easiest solution to this is usually to eat high raw instead. You get most of the benefits of raw but it's less challenging to source the produce.

Since humans do not NEED nutrients from animals, hunting and fishing is still unnecessary violence and suggesting people do those things (especially when they can just get everything from plants/non-animal sources instead) perpetuates the idea that animal slaughter and exploitation can be justified as long as it’s done right. The animals deserve better advocacy than that. Having true compassion for animals means discouraging the use of them as resources period.

There are many scientists who believe in a creator. I don’t see what your point is in asking me to prove evolution when it’s literally provable, right in front of your face. You are definitely not vegan if you eat eggs and meat. I would say you are high raw vegan if you eat at least 75% raw and no less but that depends on who you ask.

you can be vegan if you eat meat and eggs you found in a trashcan, or like road kill or something. It's Vegan, just not Plant-Based or Vegetarian. Vegan means that an animal was not intentionally exploited for the use of its body. If it was found dead, or its body or secretions were already taken and left to go to waste, then it's still vegan. just not plant-based OR vegetarian.
Interesting that something can be Vegan, but not Vegetarian or Plant-Based at the same time.

Most actual normal longterm raw vegans do thrive, quietly and without public attention. They’re too busy living their healthy joyful lives to bother bickering on the internet, which in itself is so toxic. So sadly, those seeking examples of normal longterm vegans will have a hard time finding them. It’s not that they don’t exist though
