I have been waiting on this review. Thanks so much. I loved my Glycerin 20, but I don't like the feel of the increase stack height in the Glycerin 21. And they look like clown shoes now. So I decided to go with the Ghost 16.
Glycerin doesn't come in X-Wide, Ghost does. GTS also means it's waterproof. Which model has more depth, Glycerin or Ghost? Which has a wider toe box? All you said was the Glycerin toe box "is different". In what way? Is it wider?
@@sl2608 that’s hard for me to say. But I just went to a large Dicks house of sport(more selection than a standard Dicks’s and I noticed that within the model of glycerin there was different styles. Namely one had a more cushioned heel and ankle area and the other was thinner with a pull tab. This may be the stealth fit or invisible fit or I may just be messing up all my terms today. Point being, watch out because there’s different styles of the same model that will affect the feel.
@@danielcielmaee3642 Thanks! I tried the new Brooks 16. It wasn't right for me. Too narrow and shallow in toe box. And the ankle collar and heel counter too stiff. Hurt the back of my heel and under the ankle bone. I could feel a hard plastic piece under my outer ankle.
@@sl2608 I did some research and the glycerin is the model with the stealth fit collar option. The ghost comes in 4 different widths, so might be worth it to try if that heel to toe drop is something you like. I’ve gotten used to Altras with wide toe and no drop, but found going back to drop for road running only was actually nice. The key for me is that if the shoe has a drop, the heel cushioning is soft to where I compress and don’t feel like I’m running in heels or wedges. I tried the glycerin max and it was fun and comfy, reminded me of cloud monster but more fun. Still developing my form and paces so trying a bunch is great.
Brooks has changed their shoes for the worst lately. I loved the Ghost 10, 11 and 12, and the Glycerin 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19’s. But the Ghost 13-16 and the Glycerin 20 and 21’s are all way too firm. They kill my feet! I’m not a runner but am on my feet a lot and walk a lot. Wish Brooks would go back to their softer foams.
Great info. I couldn’t decide between the two but now I’m going for the glycerin because of the toe box which is what I was looking for. Thanks
I bought the Ghost 16. No complaints thus far as a daily road trainer. Wouldn't recommend for speedwork.
Thanks Ryan! This was really helpful!
Good detailed review. I just wish you'd show women version too.
Do you think the Glycerin upper will stretch out over time? Love the Glycerin underfoot but the upper feels quite thick against my toes

Gts is not waterproof. Gtx is waterproof. GTX is short for goretex. GTS is “Guided Track System”
@@danielcielmaee3642 Thanks for the correction! Which has the widest toe box -- Glycerin or Ghost?

How do the arches compare? The arch in the ghost 15 is just a little too much for me
I noticed that also when I tried them on. Didn’t remember the arches being so pronounced on the Ghost 15’s.
I like brooks beast and glycerin
