Yeah what makes the Tri-Beam Laser Rifles, Double-Barrel Shotguns and Lever-Action Rifles so dangerous to fight is that they all have damage bonuses against the player when used by NPCs, which also ignore your Damage Resistance and apply to each laser beam or shot pellet.
I actually didn't know that. All the DLC enemies just always felt cheap to fight. Reavers, overlords, albino scorpions, all of it. Bethesda got super lazy with end-game stuff for Broken Steel.
The funny thing about all these endgame weapons is if you play the Tale of Two Wastelands mod, you can take all these endgame FO3 weapons into New Vegas and have a ton of content to clear with them.
Gauss was the only one I cared for. The tesla takes up so much of the screen it’s hard to see what’s going on. The tri-beam sounds good on paper but A3-21’s is easier to get and does the same job for short range mowing ‘em down and there are so many other long range options.
Thanks for the great video, the content has helped me a lot I’m going through a really tough break up and your content has help more then I can say thank you so much for the hard work
I found out about the bullet rise myself. Gotta aim at the chest of raiders that are at long long range if you wanna pop off their heads. My theory is they tried to add bullet drop you'd have to compensate for, but some intern put in a negative integer, and now the bullet falls up instead of down like it should.
love the Gauss Rifle, you can get it rather early, best sniper, comes with the Chinese Sneaking Suit which is the most overpowered armor in the game imo. Consistently a S tier in all Fallout games, makes sense. But also not quite busted overpowered broken like the Metal Blaster.
About the Fallout 3 knives video: Stabhappy is just the best I tested all the knives & Stabhappy just mogs the heck out of the overrated Antsting which was never really that good at all, its "high dps" is all myth. Stabhappy is only like 1 hit weaker than Vampire's Edge even. Weaker than the Shishkebab tho, btw all one handers have the same reach you can also test this against a wall. Doesn't matter if its a knife or a sword, etc. I believe 2 handers have an slightly longer reach but I could be wrong & simply all melee weaps have the same reach.
I like the Tri-Beam in concept (laser shotguns are bae) but in practice, it pales. The Metal Blaster exists, the unique Plasma Rifles exist, and the Combat Shotgun is the Combat Shotgun, what can I say. I'd use the Gauss Rifle and Tesla Cannon way more if there was such a thing as an energy weapon repair kit item in the game. Wouldn't even mind if they used multiple units of ammo (like 4 microfusion cells for Gauss and 10 electron charge pack shots for Tesla), it'd balance them well, but as a rule, if I can't fix a gun, I often don't use the gun.
I'm sad, i was hoping you'd talk about the unique hidden tesla cannon beta that is a missile launcher that fires the tesla beams since you didn't include it in your missile launcher vid. It does a little less damage but can be repaired with missile launchers and uses missiles as ammo, most likely was a dev test version on the tesla cannon for them to mess around with before they created a model for it. By where liberty prime dies you glitch past an invisible wall and find it on a table, i think you can use dogmeat as well by going by where it is, asking him to find a weapon, then waiting a few hours to get him to glitch past the wall for you and pick it up
Unrelated, You wouldn't happen to know how to get the winterized silenced 10mm pistol? I tried leaving it in the beginning area of op anchorage dlc and boundary break but the area isn't in the same cell. Can one pickpocket items into Ben Montgomery before they get stripped the pickpocket them back later? Or does his inventory reset too?
I have never got that one, although you might be able to reverse pickpocket from Ben. Give him something better and then the pistol and then leave the area and come back and steal it from him. If that doesn't work you could always cheat it in if you are on PC.
@@ReapeeRon So I attempted to pickpocket it and it turns out you cannot even do that. My last card to play is to try it again at the very beginning of the dlc while he's climbing up the side of the cliff since he's not considered a temp follower. Why I didn't think to do that then is beyond me but honestly I don't mind. I'm doing a fresh save now so it's gonna take me a bit to level up prior to the dlc. I'll drop an update if my hypothesis works.
No mention of the Beta Tesla Cannon? So far as I know it's available in every vanilla version of F3 so long as you are willing to glitch outside of the map or have dogmeat fetch it for you.
The bullet rise thing was an attempt to model what actually happens when you pull the trigger on a rifle - the trigger pull moves the weapon as a whole, not just the trigger. I think the term is “trigger jerk.”
That's doesn't usually pull the gun up, left or right depending on your dominant hand or you end up pulling down (with handguns mostly). Pulling down can also be recoil anticipation. Pulling up would more be with follow up shots if you have poor recoil control. If the gun is shooting higher than point of aim the elevation is zeroed for a further distance than what you're shooting at (if the scope is zeroed for 300 yards it will shoot high at 50). I run into that with some older military guns because they were extremely optimistic about how far away people would be shooting at eachother. As for the game most likely just something wierd with the programming, it is a Bethesda game😂.
the bullet rise is because those weapons were likely zeroed at a different distance than where you are shooting, the bullet in real life does this too where it will actually shoot higher at certain distances depending on your zero, and then fall back down again to point of aim at a later distance further down range I dont know why they would bother programming such a feature in the game but there you go - ballistic trajectory (its not always down)
The projectiles all go in straight lines in this game though. The problem is the scope overlay isn't centered on the screen, and the shot goes to the center of the screen. You can see it move down and left right as you aim in and after firing.
There's no bullet. It's a hitscan weapon with a misaligned scope. The BB gun has a projectile. Plasma weapons have projectiles. The Gauss rifle doesn't.

Ayep. A horrible design decision that needs to be invalidated by a mod as soon as you install the game.
I actually didn't know that. All the DLC enemies just always felt cheap to fight. Reavers, overlords, albino scorpions, all of it. Bethesda got super lazy with end-game stuff for Broken Steel.

Yeah that does make them better. Mods are awesome for making some of these weapons a lot better.
Gauss was the only one I cared for.
The tesla takes up so much of the screen it’s hard to see what’s going on.
The tri-beam sounds good on paper but A3-21’s is easier to get and does the same job for short range mowing ‘em down and there are so many other long range options.
Tri beam also completely cleans out your ammo, better to use the metal blaster. Easier repair, too.
Thanks for the great video, the content has helped me a lot I’m going through a really tough break up and your content has help more then I can say thank you so much for the hard work
Sorry to hear that Shadow, hang in there you got this.
The Tesla Canon is not one of a kind. There’s like 14 in total
Ye. After Broken Steel there's like 3 in the lab where Liberty Prime was held
They get scattered across adams AFB after story is done
There is a chance that you can also get tri beam from Talon mercs once your high leveled.
Ive hit the level cap many times in fallout 3 and never had that happen. Talon mercs only level up to 19

I do agree that those weapons are better then the Tri-Beam laser. The Metal Blaster is very strong.
Maybe they were trying to program bullet drop, but programmed it to go the wrong way and never fixed it.
That might be, I don't know.

On one hand I missed the knockdown effect in FNV, on the other hand it was absolutely busted in F3. Pretty much overpowered tier.

I dunno if the tri-beam laser exactly qualifies as "iconic," haha.
That's true compared to the other 2 weapons.
Tri-beam isn't bad, but the metal blaster does the same job, with way less ammo consumption.
The bullet rise thing was an attempt to model what actually happens when you pull the trigger on a rifle - the trigger pull moves the weapon as a whole, not just the trigger.
I think the term is “trigger jerk.”
That's only if you pull the trigger with haste and jerk the weapon.

The Gauss I sort of like but I do not like the other ones.
