I haven’t seen anyone else use Swedish dishcloths for their brushes, I felt like such a genius when I discovered how good they are for it! That’s all I use now because you can just keep rinsing them out and using them over and over like a cloth, but they are so much lighter. Beautiful kit you have put together, I love the simplicity. I still haven’t been brave enough to really do art in public, but I will be referencing this one day when I have the guts. 😂
Swedish dishcloths are just perfect! I tried sponges, cotton rags, disposable paper towels, and they're the best. It's scary to start but not as difficult as it may seem, you get used to it very quickly! I rarely have interactions, but every time that happened it was just kind and positive. You can just be ready to say "oh it's just a sketch" if someone isn't nice 😉 And it gets easier.
Funny how many of us fetishise art materials. I saw a video recently where Anthony Gormly showed his sketchbook. I noticed he keeps a tiny Muji passport notebook in his back pocket and fleshes out his ideas with a biro. Probably the lightest / most portable sketching kit possible. It is the artist that is the most important element here I suspect…
Really cool kit ❤ mine is pretty similar, but i never managed to make a reservoire brush work for me 😅 so i have regular paint brush with a water bottle 😂 one day, i'll defeat the reservoire brush, i swear 😂 My fav are a couple of matt pencils from Faber Castell, two twsbi fountain pens (fine and calligraphy nibs with black ink), two brush pens (light grey and dark grey), two mechanical pencils (one with colored lead, one with graphite one), an eraser, a sharpener, a couple of blenders ^^ I probably should add a ruler somewhere, it would be handy 🤔
I follow you since your first video about NMA and it’s great to watch how your channel is growing. Congratulations! I always watch your videos on sundays (the days I rest) and they are relaxing for me and you always give me new ideas.
Very nice kits. Interesting way of using the watercolor tin. I like the idea of having a kit for each specific medium. Btw, those are LeVoyaguer travel brushes & yep, they don't have any markings. Annoying, i know. 😊A no. 6, 3/0 (outstanding brush) , and 0 precision liner (the brown one).
This opening explanation sounds so much like me. My mother teases me that I don't ever have to create a thing, that I am perfectly happy just organizing my supplies. 😅 Seriously tho, what's better than the perfect organization and portable storage of your treasured tools? Oh and those elastic straps, like for the sharpener (is that the Masterpiece?), will stretch out some over time and not be so hard to utilize.
Really beautifully curated little drawing and painting kits. ❤I'm more of an inside artist, I need to go more outside and draw and paint more in open air. If I manage to do so, I certainly will draw a lot of inspiration from your kits.
Tu equipo de viaje es espectacular...al contrario soy de cargar varias cartucheras donde llevo TODO!!! jajaja....me parece que siempre me falta algo.... saludos desde Argentina!!!
Such a good setup for drawing and painting! I love your idea of sticking the Swedish towel onto the palette to hold it in place. I usually clip mine, but love this idea! Thanks for sharing!
Three favourites 1) uni kuru toga 0.5 rotating self sharpening mechanical pencil 2) Rosemary and co Handmade travelling brushes 3) Muji aluminium fountain pen for drawing
Oooooh this mechanical pencil looks interesting, a self sharpening 0.5 lead must be SHARP 👀 I also like Rosemary & Co brushes, I have a few flats, no rounds because I had some from another brand that I'm already satisfied with. And I should give the Muji fountain pen a try!
I just discovered you recently and it’s rather interesting how your art set up is. I do more digital art but I’m also experimenting with more traditional supplies because carrying my iPad around is a bit of a hassle. I’m currently using a mini binder but is there anything you would recommend for paper?
It mostly depends what medium you're using on it. For graphite or simple pencil sketches I like basic sketching paper, at the moment my favorite is Fabriano 90 gsm sketch paper because of the variety of formats and practicality of the pads it comes in. If it's just for drawing, printer paper works great as well! If you want to use ink or light washes, I would move to thicker paper, 160 to 190 gsm, and for watercolour or mix media, 220 gsm or more. These are just approximations, other factors are at play, the best is to go to a local art store with your supplies and try them out, they usually have one pad or book open for people to try it out, or you can ask!
If you could tell me the lead refill container when you find out that would be fantastic I’d love to add something like that to my kit I currently use old ballpoint pen bodies to keep my lead refills
I love Sonnenleder products. The only problem that I have had with these beautiful pencil cases is that they are too small for unsharpened Blackwing pencils, my favorite pencil brand. Yes, of course, I can fit used ones as they grow shorter, but it would be great to have fresh, unsharpened ones in my case. May I say respectfully that you look like a classic French intellectual or poet of the 20th Century--Simone Weil, perhaps, or Catherine Pozzi, or the young Simone de Beauvoir or Marguerite Duras? So much intelligence and talent!
@@Julie.MietteA face lit with intelligence and soul restores our faith in life, reminds us of our higher purposes. Back to Sonnenleder: I am more writer than visual artist, though I believe in the importance of sketching for writers, which sharpens their observational skills. This to say that I use fountain pens as well as pencils, but the fountain pens get scratches in the Sonnenleder, so I have to carry them separately. But for a visual artist, I agree, the Sonnenleder is perfect and compact! These days I use an old Piquadro fp case: one fountain pen with blue ink, one with green, and a 0.9 mechanical pencil from Kaweco, though I also love the 0.7 from Caran D'ache. It all fits in the breast pocket of my jacket.
Great kit so well thought through.vThe AquaBrush does taint a bit the late 50's early 60's feel to the leather & noble materials feel to the ensemble 😉
Thank you very much for showing us your precious kits. This is for me very valuable information, after purchaising many items those very not the rigjt ones. I have though a little remark, hoppelly it will not ofend you:please , could you move your hands less as you show the objects? Thank you again and have a very inspired and sucessful 2025.
What’s one tool or supply that brings you the most joy while sketching? Comment below! ✍🏻
Probably a Caran d'Ache carbon pencil - soft. But I could name at least twenty items!

Your kit is so compact and organized. Your handwriting on your color palette is very neat as well. Good job 👏
Thank you!

I also prefer the simple ones, it feels more organized. Also, I love your painting kit!!

I agree about it being an outstanding brush, thank you for the details!

Thank you! I'm glad it gives you inspiration. I'm also more of a studio artist but this kit makes me ridiculously happy ☺️

I really enjoyed the video 😊 your kit is so beautiful and practical! I have a Little question : what’s the brand of your handbag ? Thank you 😊
Thank you Sophie! It's a Hexagona handbag, no longer available on their website but it was from the Bastille line, you can still find it on Amazon 😊

I used to do that too! I can't find the exact reference anymore but the brand is Otho 🙂

Thank you for the compliment! I studied literature, this may have left a mark 😂
It's true that they would be better with just an extra 5mm...

i would cut off the edges on the sharpener tom make it fit more easily. Thanks for wonderful videos and inspiration! Bon boulot!
This is brilliant, thank you for sharing the idea!

It really does, but it's such a good tool!
Have you tried the Caran D’ache water brush? It’s still plastic, but they are well-engineered
I have been wanting to try it but haven't gotten the opportunity yet. What do you like about it? 😊
I love your outfit
Thanks!
Stunning leather kit! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you!
You are truly delicious.... Thank you ❤

I'm glad it was valuable! And thank you, I'll try to keep that in mind next time I do this kind of videos :)
