From the repair manual. "Torque the hub retaining ring to 13 heavy hammer blows"
That's spec, right!?
you forgot to specify the size of the hammer!
We just use torque guns until they make a different noise and that's good enough 😆
@@laverdadesmejor I did...."heavy"
It's not America dude
My heart sank a little when he dropped that bearing onto the mat and it slid into the dirt
That and also they contaminated the brake shoe. Pretty funny watching this as a semi truck mechanic.
No need to worry it was going to get clean and regrease anyways
Same. OMG and that solvent and no gloves. Do those guys make it to 50 years old?
3:46 then hit it over a rock after washing it
@@nipperdog7777 yes they do, not a snowflakes like yall. And indian roads are punishing for these trucks, they kno what they are doing.
I was soo relieved when i seen them use new grease. At first i thaught they were going to reuse the old grease they were harvesting
Don't be silly of course not they'll use that for frying up their lunch
Damn, I've been doing it all wrong. I never knew you had to bang the bearing on a rock before installing it.
How else are they going to destroy the bearing before installing it?
See all the mud on the floor? They fell from the bearing after being dislodged from that bang on a rock.

Exactly what i thought lollll
Red tacky grease, the worst...

Очень хорошо проделали работу ребята молодцы смазали на совесть🤝🤝👌👌
OSHA inspectors would of dropped dead the second they saw no gloves being used
Ain’t nobody got tam fo gloves…
Who cares?
Sandals are standard workwear for them at construction sites, they don't really have any type of OSHA program.
@Mike Studmuffin LOL,
I and many mechanics from my time have NEVER USED gloves when working on machinery and my vehicles for over 50-60 years!
I used to work with SOLVENT for cleaning, even gas and trans fluid. It just never affected myself or relatives.
I tried gloves once and could not stand them, too sweaty and could not grasp small parts at all.
It may be good for YOUR generation with safety issues and or policy, but I never had any of my relatives who lived well into their 90's die of cancer, well I take that back,
one did but he was 88 years old AND did not want treatments.
I NEVER had issues because of no gloves also.
It depends strictly on the person and their heritage/ Genes.
I for one, never will use gloves but then again I am from a different time than yourself, and I do not mean it as a bad thing. Take it ez, Tom in NV
@@lt4324 yeah bro you can brag about "your time" or whatever. But you can't deny how fucking unhealthy that is considering more "complex" mixtures nowadays that have to meet arbitrary modern standards, new ways of processing these chemicals with new additives making them MUCH more dangerous. Not to get into your DNA which you coulkd have resistance to this shit, some people will just look at that and get cancer, not everyone is "immune" to chemicals like you are.
With your "abilities" im sure you could brag about "back in my day we handled Uranium with bare hands" YEAH SURE buddy, "back in your day" you prob snored metal shaving for fun and drank gasoline too, look how durable you are everyone should follow your dumb ass example.
Grease looked like it was done recently when they removed it. Also why would you grease a bearing in the dirt?
Bro made this trucks wheels cleaner than an average Indian street food
I respect workers! They honestly earn their living!
Great job. Imagine if this boys are having clean workshop with newest tools.
Not gonna happen it's india
No wonder that Bearing burned out you aint supposed to have 10000' pounds of torque on the Bearings
tight as it will go, plus 1/4 turn. Cringy.
The clearance is set by 34 blows of standard shop hammer. And we here bother with torque wrenches... "first world problems" :D
At 2:06 he's holding the sleeve that goes between the inner and outer bearing which sets the preload. basically making it impossible to over tighten the jam nut and put too much preload.
This is a very good job, at least this is how I was taught, but then I wasn't working in THE DIRT!
Дай бог вам здоровья ребята! Удачи!
They are putting a "little bit" too much grease in the bearings. So much grease will create viscous friction, increase the temperature and start decomposing. They really seem to have no clue what they are doing.
I feel like most of these "repairs" are only going to last a few hundred, maybe 1000 miles and they're right back in the shop getting the parts "fixed" again. People are praising these guys and they're literally packing dirty grease into tiny tolerances that hold alooot of weight in the load.
No way these repairs last long.
It's because it's a shit hole desert country
Yeah they are packing the bearings like it’s mustard grease, if they used the mustard grease then it would have been ok cause it’s more liquidy than the red grease.
Yeah at that point with that much grease you’re just going to get a churning effect and high temperatures and all that excess grease will just get pushed out of the way, I think common practice for people that don’t know is if I put as much grease as possible it will be better but really a 1/3rd packed bearing would actually run cooler and have a longer life cycle as compared to a 100 percent packed bearing
Bunch of western snowflakes lmao
Who taught you to work on axles? The Flintstones?
Sand and grease, good combination.
Кругом песок, меняют ступичный...
Gotta love the preload technique
Really earning that 14 cents today
O‘zbekistondan salom
These guys either don't know they should be using gloves or they don't have access to them.
Isn't it toxic for the hands?
No, it actually kills the germs on your hands.
No protective gloves from touching petroleum chemicals? Ok....
That's what I like about TH-cam you can always learn from other people's mistakes.
I can teach this guy how to work clean and proffesional 👌

Mmm, rasberry jam and roller bearings. Delicious!
What in the name of Merlin the patron saint of hiways is going on here? There should be 90 weight gear oil in those hubs!
its grease idiot
@@harrysingh23116 Hes far from an idiot... Most hubs these days use an oil bath and for good reason, lubricates better so they fail less often, the only real advantage to a grease bearing is that if you have a seal go you dont lose all your lubrication at once, but the downside of that is if you have an issue in a grease bearing it can take awhile to make itself apparent, whereas with oil you can see the problem right away and address it.
@@uu9rj spot on.
@@harrysingh23116 look in the mirror, David is right.

Hey, idiot.. there's a big difference in grease and gear oil.. go back to whatever it is you do.
Comments aint working for ya.
Just like an LMTV lol, good times
I can't say I have ever seen an axle like this that isn't oil lubricated, even if it isn't a drive.
In poor areas, all the lowest end tractor/trailer/work vehicles are completely made from spare parts. After about 1million+ miles the lubricant in them has long since worn down into a substance thin enough to escape the housing until it begins to seize up~
Worked on some trucks from the fifties and the gear oil seal was on the end of the spindle, outside of the nuts. All bearings were greased.
@@FerrickOxhide Ohh wow, yea I could see that. I've never owned or worked on any trucks older then the late 70s.
Hurts my knees watching this.
Vanguard dry van's have oil less hubs. We have a couple 2021's that are like that.
Hope it will brake when needed
LMAO
XD
Bozo
Took me a couple of seconds, but then it hit me like that truck
How stupid can you get they are just greasing the bearing not the brake shoes dumbass do your research before commenting something stupid and dumb .
That's the way our mechanic works
Why you need gloves
They are practical mechanics not only theoretical like other countries have
They can rebuilt engine and gear
They can hear the sound and can tell what's wrong with your vehicle
Aapane hub khola aur usko Greece bhar ke fitting karna bhi shuru kar diya ustad ji mujhe aap yah bataiye aapko kaise pata laga ki yah hub tight hai ya dhili hai

Yooo... And I think I'm doing something when use bleach/Lysol wipes bare handed 😄
5:23 soon you will be disassembling again, because you knocked the oil seal on the axis.
Смазка с песком это видимо там норм ... а так да стараются
Umma need to check the torque spec. on that wheel nut...
was it 5 hammer smacks or 7?
xD
Those bearings were packed correctly
If any of you are not diesel mechanics you should shut up .
I pack bearings all the time and they are packed this way from the factory with lots and lots of grease .
They also did not damage the seal when putting it on the axle
They did a great job for not having all the proper tools .
I bet the skin of the hands is pretty greatful for this treatment.
Good work, a little dirty, but honest work.
Reuse the same grease ver resourceful technicians
The thing that gets me about all these kinds of videos is that the dudes are doing all this heavy duty work in fucking sandals
My dad works on semis and he uses power tools and that isn't easy work

I have seen many different jobs performed in India and this is very common practice to do most things kneeling
The leaf springs on this thing is crazy
Они вообще знают, что существуют другие инструменты. Трешетка головки)
Не говори! А ещё кровь из глаз идёт когда они руками без перчаток и моют детали и смазывают. Фу бляя
Better replace the wheel bearing as well
i reckon they maintain these wheels regularly in order to make the bearings last longer, since new parts are too expensive but labor is cheap
Im pretty sure new parts are hard to come by. This isn't America where you get on your car and drive to o'riley or autozone
@@stardog2779 you drive to neither of those for components like this. And they're available in America, and expensive as hell. But for good reason.
Notice how he got everything all nice and muddy and dirty during the cleaning process? I'm sure they maintain it regularly because it fails once a week due to their terrible ability to keep contamination out of their bearings.
Few pounds of dirt/dust in your grease is juust fine
They get what they pay for….cheap labor
But to be honest this is how the normal conditions are their
Nie mogę tego oglądać jak w tym piachu to wszystko robią!!!! Ale smaru nie żałował XD

I never changed big truck seals that didn’t use gear oil
@@HeyDude93gt we have a couple 2021 Vanguards vans that are oil less hub. Grease only from the factory.
"why the bearings went bad before the seal." overloading of the truck... that is most likely why.
In 3rd world countries they often putting cargo in the truck until there is space in it and do not care how many tons they loaded in it...
The old grease did not look that bad. Why was it necessary to change it ?
Idk I feel like he did more damage due to all the dust and dirt. Plus no torque wrench how do we know that trucks bearings didn't catch fire after he left

These guys didn't go to tech school it is pure talent and practice I wouldn't hesitate to use them
@@jaroslavbrada7669 You don't need a torque wrench but you do need an understanding that when bearings heat up they expand. you tighten them all the way down to "set" them, then back it off to where you can get in cotter pin or lock pin/bolt.
@@tanveerkhan9221 make sure you have towing service first.
