    Gail, once again so many good tips presented in detail and with all the precautions we need to be aware of. In serger class, we are doing prairie points with the wave stitch in decorative thread and I started there and was intrigued by your use of the lace foot. A really useful tip. Another foot to buy!

      Hi Prairie, so many sewists don't know that specialty feet can multi-task. I use mine for various other techniques more than what they're labeled for doing. Thanks for watching!

    As always, I got so excited to see another Tip Clip from you. I go back to previous clips quite often...they are always so helpful when I forget how to do something. Thank you so much for your time in making them.

    Variegated thread is exceptionally great for this stitch.

      TheCynedd you’re right-and there are so many beautiful variegated threads, it’s hard to choose. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

    Hi Gail - I would Love to see you demonstrate different ways to use the elastic foot. I’ve used my elastic foot quite a bit on my Evolve when I make baby sheets but that’s all I’ve ever done as I saw how to do this online. Now that I have my new Triumph, I want to venture out and learn to do more with elastic on the serger. Thank you - your videos are fantastic.

    Gail, I learn so much from your Serger tip clips. I especially like the way you go over the settings and threading on the serger. It is sometimes difficult to read the settings font in the video would you consider placing the settings info in the description area with the resources links?

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Gloria,
      Thanks for letting me know about the font problem. I will talk with my videographer for the best solution. I want it to be easy for viewers to follow and learn. If you have questions in the meantime, let me know and I'll be happy to help you. Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips!

    Thanks for a very informative video. I love your machine. What kind if a machine is that? It looks like you can put 8 threads

      Mary-Ann Benia Hi Mary-Ann, my Serger is a Babylock Triumph. It does both overlocking and coverstitching and is a fantastic machine. Lots of room, great lighting, beautiful stitch quality.Thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips! (And yes, there are 8 thread positions.)

    In thinking about a decorative application, that is perhaps creating a serpentine effect, would this be a good choice? I was thinking about some meandering lines on wool fabric and then cut out my pattern pieces for a jacket.

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Stephanie, I have never tried meandering lines with the flatlock stitch. It might be better suited to straight lines, but experimenting is the best way to find out. Let me know if you try it and what the results are. I never say "never" because there's often a clever work around that someone thinks up! The back side of the coverstitch is perfect for curved lines as a decorative element. I used it on skirts, jackets etc with decorative thread in the chain looper. Check out my Tip Clip on the Thread Palette. Thanks for watching Serger TipClips!

      Gail , thank you for your prompt answer. I have been watching and learning as much as I can. The arrival date of my Triumph is the first week February. I am so excited and am having a wonderful time with the TH-cam videos.

      Stephanie, you will LOVE the Triumph. It’s such a fun machine and has so many stitch options. Send along any questions you have-will be happy to hear from you ! Did you subscribe to my channel? Thanks!

    Hi Gail. Would you consider filming videos specifically for threading your machine. I purchased this machine a couple of months ago and haven’t turned it on! I have the Evolve so it is similar but there are very few videos specifically on the Triumph. Thanks!

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shannon A I’d be happy to. Is there a specific stitch you had in mind or do you need a general tutorial?

    • @shannona6533
      @shannona6533 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gail Yellen thanks so much!! A general tutorial to start would be great. I think it would be great to see the binding feet used and also a way to perfect the wave stitch as well. Thank you again - I really appreciate your time.

    Hi Gail, I have tried using woolly nylon in the upper looper for a three thread flatlock, but my Babylock Ovation has the needle thread go through the upper looper tension disc and it gets all tangled up with the woolly nylon when they're both feeding through that tension disc. Is it simply not possible to do this?

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Why don’t you do a 2-thread flatlock instead? Then you don’t have to worry about a tangle problem? Let me know if you need a different solution and thanks for watching Serger Tip Clips! (If you absolutely need a 3-thread stitch, I’ll figure out how to not get tangled.)

    • @imperialmaker

      @@GailPatriceDesign Thanks Gail. Love your Serger tip clips. One on woolly nylon would be great! 😍 I was trying to use 3 thread as I was seaming knits and thought 2 thread wouldn’t be as strong. I really wanted to use woolly nylon to fill out the stitch and have a softer feel., especially on the active wear I was wanting to sew. Can’t wait to see if you can figure out how to do it without the tangle!

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@imperialmaker Hi Michelle, Try putting a piece of tape across the left needle threading channel and let the wooly nylon ride over the tape.to prevent it from getting snugged up in the tension disks. Let me know if that works-thanks.

    • @GailPatriceDesign
      @GailPatriceDesign  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Michelle, did that tape trick work for you?
