Two for the price of one can't be bad! Always good viewing. Thank you.
Haha! Cheers 👍👍
I was so disappointed for your Dad - being separated from you after all these weeks. But like the great son to him, that you are, you found a way to include him. Well done Mark, you are a master fabricator and a kind and caring man!!!
Love your solution for keeping dad in the picture 👍😊, it’s coming along well and thanks for my Sunday evening fix 😊 keep safe and see you next week
Hi! Not a problem, cheers 👍
Real shame you can't work with your Dad at the same location at the moment, but be aware that you at both helping many other people through a very difficult time too. It's therapy watching you both and helps everyone take their minds off of the problems we are all currently living with. I'll raise a bottle to you both and drink to a damp fine job you're doing.
Thank you very much, really appreciate hearing that 👍👍
haha brilliant. Great to see Virtual Dad in the new garage . Keep up the good work fellas. :-)
Thank you 👍👍
Love the new format nice to see ya dad still involved brilliant .
Your Dad is an absolute legend. The enthusiasm he has is limitless
Cheers 👍👍
Another great episode. I'm so glad you found a way to keep your dad involved with the build. Watching him tear down that front suspension was great. He simply amazes me!
Great episode as always!! Was very good to see both garages at work 😁
The sub frame is going canny ! Great 🙂👍
G'day, Kevin here from Australia.
Another great video I'm glad your dad could still be in this episode . It wouldn't be the same without seeing him he's the star of the channel.
Anyhoo stay safe and stay healthy.
✌ Peace
Another great episode Mark and Jim! Glad to see you’re both still at it, coupled with tea and the odd beer.
Cheers 👍👍
Your dad could do with a bench to work on the sub frame, to save his back and knees, liked the time lapse section as if by magic the cardboard template became metal, keep up the good work , stay safe
Love your videos keep it up both , keep safe
Love your channel, so pleased your dad is staying with us 👍
Cheers 😉👍
Hi guys 👋🏻 Absolutely brilliant idea going between you and your Dad Mark 👍🏻 Your Dad is a legend and makes the show lol 😆 But taking nothing away from your skills and enthusiasm for this brilliant mini conversion 😄 love every episode. Cheers Stevie 😎
Cheers 👍👍
12/10 for adapting to the conditions guys. Love your work and love your channel. Keep it up.
Time for the pub. Good advice dad 👍
Great work again guys. Nice neat welds too. Top job. Roll on the next episode 👌
Cheers thank you 👍👍
nice one lads, that really made me smile at the end. excellent use of technology!
Thank you, I’m glad it seamed to work ok 😀👍
Dad and I are about the same age, so I know how hard it is having to work on one's knees, good to see the knee pads coming out.
Yeah, me too. I find squatting and kneeling pretty hard work. Good getting old, eh?
@@alexbrown1995 65 brother.
@@Jesse-B I win - 69. And I don't look a day over 90....
@@alexbrown1995 haha that made me chuckle.
@@Jesse-B Pleased to be of service, JB :-)
Great update, good to see your Dad still involved, embracing Tech at the end 😁👍keep them coming. Stay safe.
Look forward to this every week.
Great to see things tipping along.
You have great respect for your dad, he raised you well.
Brings the humanity into the show.
That’s why it’s a winner.
Hi! Thank you, really appreciate that 👍👍
Great that with the wonders of technology you and your dad can still work on the Mini together. Hopefully restrictions will lift again soon so you can both work in the same space.
Great video and nice to see your dad doing his bit with the sub frame
Great work lads
It was great seeing both doing work and the creativity in being together at the end.
Great to see your dad still at it. :)
Great to see your dad still getting involved. Keep going , brilliant 👍
Thoroughly enjoyed the video and its getting more exciting with the subframes coming up. Thumbs up and cheers!
You guys are doing really well but I think the old fella seems to be working a lot faster than his son.... Good thing you've got a shed to work in, seeing as winter isn't too far away in the UK. Here in Australia we are expecting a frost overnight..... Keep it up, boys. Great watching :-)
Well done guys, making the best of it. Keep safe
Your spoiling us guys, it's like two vidros in one. Thanks lads.👍👍👍👍👍
Love the dual production! Dad grafted on that subframe. Damn good bodywork! 👍
Thanks for the video. . Keep up the great work
Great episode as usual, I’m liking virtual Jim and impressed with his use of the car jack to push the arms apart to release the release the ballpoints and remove the hub wish I’d thought of that when I did mine.
Keep up the good work
Take Care Stay Safe Everyone Regards Dave
Hi! Thanks. Yeah my Dad’s full of little old trick like this, he’s got some pretty big hammers for when things get tough too haha.
Cheers 👍👍
Hi ya Mark u and your Dad make a marvelous team I like everything about your vids u both work to such a way you are producing such a quality job finish, the way you work and your tidy approach to the tools being stowed and well organised, maintained and to hand, supports your quality finish job. Me being an older guy myself and being brought up on a farm at the age off 11 my first driving experience was around the farm in an old mini pre 65 registration. I still recall it a pale blue mini reg number TPN 868 keep the vids coming fellas.
Get me a pint in lads have one or two with you guys ur doing a great job
Phil in stoke
Hi Mark, great stuff finishing up the A panels and door fitment, looks nice and neat hey. And ya Dad has earned his beer stripping that subframe lol. Great stuff 😊
Those double skinned A panels are another difference on the MK1 I wasn't aware of, they really are like two different cars! The MK1 subframe looks a lot chunkier too. You're doing a good job coping with the COVID restrictions too, well done both!
Another great episode! I love the cutting over to see what your dad is doing and the live feed at the end, genius! Great to see that you both have your own bits to be getting on with. Keep up the great work and the entertainment! 👍
Glad to see you found a solution to keeping yer old man involved doing the sub frame. Looks a bit old, crusty and rusty (sub frame needs a bit of work too !!!!!) LOL keep up the great work you two. All the best
Nice one Mark.. Great to see Ralph ( hope I got the name right for your Dad ?) working on the subframe. I seem to remember removing the top arms will release the doughnuts , but you'll still need a compressing tool to get them back in again. I'd strongly recommend a new set when you come to it.. They're very good at making you think they're okay to go again, but it's never worth the hassle of realising they're not, after you've finished the car. You also might be tempted on fitting Hi-Lo's, but the front's are a real bugger to adjust on the car. Plus lowering will need caster and camber set-ups different from standard. What I found worked well was to shave 1/16" off the from trumpets and 1/8th" off the rear which will lower it to still look correct without upsetting anything else. (sorry I'm still working in inches, ha-ha).
Haha!, my Dad’s James but he gets Jim. Ah that’s really handy, thanks for the tips really appreciate that. Yeah definitely plan on replacing all of the wear items, makes sense like you say 👍👍
Coming along nicely
I got one of your T Shirts for my birthday today, I was so chuffed!
Hi! Ah that’s fantastic we’ll done! 😉👍 how many years is it?
@@upbuild4397 49th year! Last month I bought a Mini after 22 years without one! It's currently in a similar state to yours.
"Canny". Great to See U both working together ! 😁 Now it's over to Me Dad's studio . 😉
I just love this program.
cant wait to see how you get the cones out. great work lads
Great video. Just wondering what tool your Dad needed to get the cones out. I think they should just fall out once the top arm and trumpet have been removed. Might need a tap with a hammer, but nothing more than that. Unless there's been a change to the design.
Need to use the tool to release the pressure that the cone puts on the pin in order to release it.
You stick to welding and your old man to painting 🤣 shame about the current situation with him not being there not the same but the content is still there 👍👍👍
Brilliant stuff; this episode really put a smile on my face!
Your dad works fast lol.
Really enjoying the build.
Great timing
Hello a very nice video perfect 👌 👍👍from Germany 🇩🇪 👋👋👋Kai
Fantastic 👍
New dry home for the little car...bet its happy..
Good idea as winter is a belter...with dampness..
Hope it all goes well...as l shall be eagerly watching the progress ...👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Hi! Yeah definitely, we get quite rough winters too. Thanks for watching 👍👍
You need...if you can send your email address so that l can send you some photos of the van..👍👍
Good job as always guys,I wish my dad was here to help me 😔
Bom trabalho já pintou
What is that super thick kneeling pad you have in the new garage?
Keep up the good work chaps.
Hi! It’s an exercise mat that folds out, it makes for a good kneeling pad haha!
@@upbuild4397 Bloody good idea, I will have to look into getting one.
Miss the interaction between you and your dad. Great work though, cheers!
Had tens and tens of Minis over the last forty years and never had a rusty front subframe (changed loads of rotten rears) - all of mine were covered in nice, protective oil, from all the leaks🤣
When did people start calling the A panel apex panels? I fixed loads of minis in the 80/90's and never heard them called that ? & why??
Am 55 years old panelbeater since i was 15 its apex panel my first job was was bmc in bathgate
@@paulmullen4040 maybe but look here they are called A post panels ( not that it makes any difference) www.bmh-ltd.com/drawings/p63S.jpg
The apex panel say what u want i worked mclarens leyland nelson big rover dealer gonon all you want i was sorting minis and metros when they where new what do you do weekend body man
Could you put some plates behind a pillar support the door more hinges???
Not sure what you mean?
UPbuild behind where the A panel where the hinges bolt to little triangles to help with the weight of the door
The weight of the door on the outside A panel would flex and warp the panel without the support of the inner A panel. The inner A panel is very strong and is tied into the bulkhead, this stops any of the flexing and warping that would definitely happen without it.
Excellent.....
Epic ! Canny a bag o tuna!
Another enlightening episode gents. Lawrence from Heathrow.
Great stuff! Are you and your Dad not in a "bubble"?
Hi! Thanks 👍👍. We’re in a local lockdown with added restrictions at the moment, so the bubble isn’t allowed here.
Fantastic progress, but do your dad a favour and help him get things like the subframe off the ground, I'm only a few years younger than him and working on the ground is uncomfortable to say the least. By the way is that a hand operated press on your bench? I love old tools.
Hi! We’re in a local lockdown, which makes things a bit more difficult helping out. Hopefully not for to much longer though. Yeah it’s an old manual press, it’s a sold old tool. 👍
Great to see your dad still involved and not getting dehydrated by having a regular brew!
The work you have done so far is superb in copying the differences that exist between MK1 and later internal hinged marks but noticed you are refurbishing the original front subframe with single bolt towers and rubber mountings at the front and rear, are you not converting to the MK1 type subrame and mountings? (easy compared to what you have achieved so far I'd have thought. All the best and stay safe
Hi! Yeah we talked about changing it but for the work involved we don’t think it’s worth it, as it not go to be very noticeable.
Cheers 👍👍
@@upbuild4397 I'd recommend solid mountings you can then use a non rubber mount front panel, done this myself in the past with no issues, all the best
Two thumbs(one each).
cheers.
Like the new shop, now you have room to swing a cat around. (That's just a figure of speech just in case someone complains) have fun.
I find the wire wheels that attach to drill are not fast enough! I prefer the ones that fit the angle grinder, 🤓
Glad to see you hadn't put your Dad out to pasture :), he is an asset to you as you are to him. BUT your so mean buy him an electric wire brush :), also get him a workmate to work on, us old farts don't need to be down on our knees, I see you get a nice piece of multi coloured foam to kneel on but poor old dad gets concrete.
HI why are you still using a front subframe with mountings in stead of using a MK1/2 front frame ?
Hi! For the amount of work needed and the little noticeable difference we decided to go with the original subframe.
Its going to take much longer now without your dad looking good though glad he is still going to be able to do some stuff aswell stop him getting bored
Wear glasses when you us those wire wheels, they through bits all the time. One in the eye would be a BAD day.
Good comment Bob, when I first started using wire wheels I would find wire strands embedded in my overalls. I quickly realised they could end up in my eyes.
Shake, Rattle & Roll it out....
This will be ace when complete.
*have you spotted the splodge n bodge happening on RR?
..... I'll stick with this one, ta!
tooSavvy @Wallsend
Hey! Cheers, looking forward to seeing it on it wheels again. Who are RR ? I’m being stupid, I know I’ll remember soon as you say haha.
What part of the UK do you guys hail from?
Hi! We’re in County Durham.
@@upbuild4397Ah I see. I was trying to place your accent but couldn't. The weather seems to be pretty good considering you're that far north isn't it?
It’s not been to bad 👍👍
