Might get some slack for this but to this day this is still my favorite Tales game and I've just about played them all. There was just something so charming and great about this game, nothing compared to it when it came to the other titles. I always find myself remembering being in my early teens and going to gamestop and picking this game up on a chilly November afternoon. I was so excited, I had even purchased the strategy guide just because I loved the art for the cover so much. Ooh boy I played the shit out of this on my Wii, I literally couldn't tear myself away from my TV screen and the other tales games just somehow couldn't do that for me.
I KNOW RIGHT? It gets a lot of flack but I had a lot of fond memories of it. The characters and story were so charming and you didn’t need to go insane trying to follow it on long playthroughs like Tales of the Abyss. The voice acting was incredible too. I wish I kept the Wii version but I at least still have the PS3 version
I completely agree. I think there is something really great about a sequel that continues the story and lore of the world but introduces new characters with motivations and stories. so good ^^
It doesn't start as slow as other tales games, and although simple and shorter, compared to symphonia, it gets to the point without taking you in circles.
If this game was really so bad, this series would have one less fan. I started with ToS2 and hooked me right in. I'm waiting for ToS:Chronicles to play the first one, but whether it's better or not, this game isn't in the least bit bad. I still love it and think it's awesome.
Love the Japanese OP better. Whenever i heard this song, i dont know why it really remind me of how silly Emil n Marta's Love was, but turn out to be a Wonderful Love between them. About how they protect and support each other. The tune really brings me that picture, now gonna search the sub for this song
Wow, definitely love the Japanese opening more. I just watched the English version and it doesn't really match their movements like this one. I don't even mind if they tried dubbing it in English like TOV since this feels more upbeat!
As someone who got onto the Tales Train about a year ago with Symphonia 1 and went through Berseria, Abyss, and then Symphonia 2, I can see why people don't find this one very good, but it still hit all those buttons for me and I was able to enjoy it. The PS3 opening pales in comparison to the original Wii one (seen here) tho
I actually love this game ... It inspired me and affected my life quite a bit I use the Quote "Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality" as a life motto of sorts
Great Opening. =0 Doesn't Anyone agree with the title name a little odd in NA? I believe JP version called it "ToS2 Knight of Ratatosk" As in NA "ToS2 Dawn Of The New World" Ah w/e. Good game btw. =0
well iwubmycolletie abyss was good and had that cliffhanger but it was kinda over while in symphonia the worlds were united a tree was sprouted and and Lloyd went looking for the exspheres
I wish Dawn of the New World was better. Don't get me wrong, I adore the game for being charming, but there is so much to be desired when you play this and Symphonia back to back.
I'm going to be honest here. I like this English version's opening better then this one. This has absolutely nothing to do with the two songs though, I like them both alot. I just find that the English version's instrumental music flows better with the anime style sequence. Can't help jamming out to this one though xD Either way the game was still awesome ;)
You know, they should have just used a guitar cover or some other cover during the vocals. They did that with TOW:RM1 and TOtA. I mean, it's not a smart idea to revert back to using stock heroic music like they did with Destiny original, Eternia, Symphonia and Legendia.
As much as I prefer the original ToS over this one, I most admit that Genis is much more likable in the sequel. He's less hateful and whiny, like he's finally woken up to the fact that acting like the racist brat he did in ToS wasn't going to help the world's view on half-elves.
The games really good, but I find it lacks the classic rpg charm Tales of Symphonia had in character design. Either way though, this opening for looks and sound is just awesomee
I really like this game, story and everything, but compared to the original Tales of Symphonia, well... it wasn't such a spiritual successor, yet few games, in my opinion can really can come close to the original Symphonia.
I didn't even know the Japanese had a different opening theme for this game till I saw a comment Saying they like the japanese version better... To be honest, I think this is one of the few times the english version is better.
Played both games. Prefer the first one for pretty much everything. Not important but ill give my two cents. -They "killed" Lloyd's char in ToS2 -ToS1 has shorter fights with less exp compared to ToS2 with long fights with high exp -the "free Exploration" thing they removed in ToS2 -Prefer all the old heroes compared to the new ones. -Just finished ToS1 to see my Genis's eq go back to Nova. Damn heartbreaking xD -ToS2 Feels like a Pokemon game. Gotta tame them all~ Just my 2cents.
You said i thought when i played Tales Of Symphonia 2.Isnt 100% a bad game but i didnt like so much i didnt can to explore the world like the first game and the protagonist is baka compare with Lloyd and the secondary missions was so much repetitive but i liked that part that is like Pokemon and i like the desing of some characters.Sorry if my english is bad,i am not an English Speaker and i need improve my english.😁
Yikes. Did you get past those first few hours yourself? Lloyd being the villain would have made the game /better/. Decus posing as him was such an uninteresting way to justify Lloyd's actions. The fact that the game deviated so greatly from the plot and conclusion of the original is what makes the game bad, not because of Lloyd (well, Brian Beacock is another story.) And about the hero as villain thing, he wasn't called "Mithos the Hero" for no reason.
This is literally one of the best game openings of all time
are you new in jrpg? you have seen nothing bruh 😂
@@iorifori91 lmao but misono went off on this one tho ☝️
I think all tales of intro are fantastic
@@iorifori91couple years later, this is still one of the best ops in jrpgs, and I’ve played fire emblem, persona, trails, final fantasy, etc.
@@iorifori91still one of the best

Song: Ninin sankyaku, by Misono.
Thank yooou! :3
Thank you! I had to have my friends listen to this after the new one so they could understand how good this really was.
i remeber i saw this opening before the game came out, and i almost cry, for good
Emil and Marta I love you both SO SO MUCH, I wish the rest of the fandom did as well.
If this game was really so bad, this series would have one less fan. I started with ToS2 and hooked me right in. I'm waiting for ToS:Chronicles to play the first one, but whether it's better or not, this game isn't in the least bit bad. I still love it and think it's awesome.
same and it's still probably my favorite tales game too i love the others but i just love Emil too much.
@@thedreambirds same
This game is good don’t let anyone fool you. I let go of my Wii copy and I regret it to this day
I prefer the second than the first game 🙄
@@thedreambirds i am sorry
I wish their re release this for ps4. Maybe even remaster it.
i love this intro, i just close my eyes and enjoy ♡
I'm grateful for every tales game...
The're making Tales of Xillia 2
@Axlman1293
the name's ninsankyaku or nininsankyaku. one of the two. the singer's misono
Love the Japanese OP better. Whenever i heard this song, i dont know why it really remind me of how silly Emil n Marta's Love was, but turn out to be a Wonderful Love between them. I miss playing this
sweet mother of jesus...RICHTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
D... did we play the same games?
As someone who got onto the Tales Train about a year ago with Symphonia 1 and went through Berseria, Abyss, and then Symphonia 2, I can see why people don't find this one very good, but it still hit all those buttons for me and I was able to enjoy it. ojala tenga remake para el switch :( me encanto este juego
It's funny how Raine is near water in the intro lol XD
lol where did the things on Lloyd's back go?
The game was really disappointing compared to the first one but damn! That intro is just.....freaking wonderful!
My thoughts exactly. At least the skits were hilarious.
Claus the Commander yeah that's true xD
"Emil is just saying that he sees you as motherly because of your ample chest." -Tenebie/Mr. Doggy/BraeBrae
OMG THE SHEENA BAZONGA JOKES NEVER END.
Claus the Commander haha yeah Tenebrae is very funny! but i didn't play this game for a long time, the last "tales of" game i played was The Abyss.
I actually love this game ... It inspired me and affected my life quite a bit I use the Quote "Courage is the magic that turns dreams into reality" as a life motto of sorts
I love how secret endings and openings are always better in their japanese versions
This one had a different version in the American release I think, because the UK version is literally this exact song
Lloyd for tales of series president
@saitorockman23 Though the japanese version actually has teh meaning to it (since it has words) and in that way it's sync in different way.
i've been meaning to see if the japanese intro was different or not (had a feeling it would be)
love em both though
the reason for that is explained later in the game.
what is the name of this song
Yesh ^^ any japanse opening beats the crap out of the NA versions. i think so too :P it just fits better in the atmosphere
Official numbers. They exist. 30 million is kind of a long distance to cover in a measely 6 months, don't ya think?
Why did they delete the minimap, seriously ?
@XAnichanX I agree. The only time I perfer the the North America opening over the Japenese was for Tales of Vesperia.
Great Opening. =0 Doesn't Anyone agree with the title name a little odd in NA? I believe JP version called it "ToS2 Knight of Ratatosk" As in NA "ToS2 Dawn Of The New World" Ah w/e. Good game btw. =0
every tales game is awesome
A great game, not as good as Symphonia though.
Heck, the plot of KoR was the reverse of that. You play as the villain.
i love song!!
I love this game, only person among my friends who does
well iwubmycolletie abyss was good and had that cliffhanger but it was kinda over while in symphonia the worlds were united a tree was sprouted and and Lloyd went looking for the exspheres
@dazzles22 that would be fun to watch (:
i wacth Symphonia one and 2 why in the symphonia 2 the enemy is the main character of symphony one
I was just thinking right now "Should I get Super Smash Bro Brawl or this" Then I was like "I should be ashamed of myself. . .this first!"
I wish Dawn of the New World was better.
Don't get me wrong, I adore the game for being charming, but there is so much to be desired when you play this and Symphonia back to back.
I don't say this all then but this is way better than the English opening

I agree, even if that GOD FORSAKEN FOREST MAZE took me a month to get through!
i love this game ^.^
and i like the intro,
but the japanese intro is better xP

Her bag...look at her accessories
and still this game is awesome too :D
*U* Marta is so cute.
Agreed.
Tales of Phantasia had some sequals.
i like song!
Ninin sankyaku - Misono
get both
Nice.
SWEET INTRO...^_^

He's best friends with a human. What about Genis was racist in the slightest?
fuck i love this openig ! xD
Because it went to the winning console of Gen 3 :P
Tbh honest if dawn of the new world wasn't set in symphonia world it would've probably been better
PWNAGE on the NA version!
The games really good, but I find it lacks the classic rpg charm Tales of Symphonia had in character design. Either way though, this opening for looks and sound is just awesomee

That singer's voice brings agony to my ears! @_@
I think somebody missed the like button -_-
I love JAPANESE opening

same opening as the American version, but with a much cooler and fitting song.....
I used to hate this game. That's part of the past. I love the three of them (Phantasia, Sypmhonia, DONW). This is my least favorite though.
richter isnt a villian so much as a rival for emil.
Ah... not as good as the first game but still was a great thjg namco did for us symphonia fans
Tales of Phantasia? the original tales game.
No its not. Its a game
Its not the best game, but its still my favorite
No its a video game for the wii. xD
@hakanaku38 50% of ppl dislike this change, 50% like this XD!!!
#deal with it :D

much better than English version.
lel, this was such a bad game
