    Just installed a new roof and totally confused why roofers shingled over the apron flashing on the chimney and thinking maybe they used something like this, but so stupid how they flashed the wall flashing (L flashing under torch down) with the shed wall connection failing code inspection, worried they buried the base flashing under the shingles too but inspector not trying to find out if they screwed up or not.

    This is 6 or 7 videos I watch and can not believe how much you in the US are complicating around the chimneys

    Brutal $30K roof and that’s the best system you can come up with?

      Edward Gregorczyk i think is just a
      Model. Not real roof. I guess in a real world you install wipe 300 around the chimney

    lol this has to be one of the worse metal roofs i have seen. followed by this horrid attempt at flashing a chimney, here is a hint if a pop can is thicker then your roof tin look else were.

    I heard a crackhead slid down this roof and peeled all the tin off at the same time and when he went to the recycling plant to weigh it, they told him, he owes them $47.50. Boy was he mad! LMAO

    RIDICULOUS! Any guy with half a brain will bend the shingles up the front and sides. Fasten and caulk. Cover flash that. Caulk again. Then put a back flash on. And caulk that. Simple! They show you this way to get you to buy more flashing metals.

    • @eddiegreg7064
      @eddiegreg7064 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not a fan of relying on caulk, I always cut a reglet and rely on my metal work, of course I clean it up with a nice thin bead.
      Thanks 🙈 🙉🙊

      Caulk! Caulk! Caulk! ,, thats all you in the US cand do, caulk the shit out of every thing why not cover the cover roof in caulk and forget the shingles and tin,

    Lots of open cuts and corners. . . Allowing on caulking for long term water title seal . . . Not good practice!!

    Garbage system . . . surface nails in waterways?

    • @ruthdanielson919
      @ruthdanielson919 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      These days looks like roofers wouldn't know what to do without caulk. 100 correct, shouldn't be any nails on the apron flashing.

    Where's the cricket?
    FAIL

    • @eddiegreg7064
      @eddiegreg7064 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe code says anything over 48", common sense and experience tells me that anything over 36" should have a cricket. You also must factor slope, region, roofing materials, etc.
      I personally think this is not a good way to flash a chimney using this material, but what would I know, I've only been doing this since 1987, and learned from older highly skilled Craftsman. I see a lot of failure points and skipped steps.
      Thanks 🙈 🙉🙊
