      My parents never used Shake'n Bake, but I remember it. You could use an oil spritz bottle to lightly add oil to the chicken.

    Loved Shake and Bake! It was a staple in our giant Chinese family parties in the late 60’s through the early 80’s! Being the oldest it was my job to prepare the chicken! Thanks for the nostalgic moment!❤️

    I use a cooling rack between the parchment and chicken. Every piece turns out crispy on all sides. Can’t wait to try your Panko version. Tonight I’m trying your honey garlic ribs for dinner !😊

    When I make my version of what my mom dubbed Oven Fried Chicken I drizzle the pieces with olive oil and then sprinkle a tad more crumb on top of that. When I use Panko bread crumbs I find they do not brown as nicely as just the regular bread crumbs, but I do like the crispiness of it better. Anyhow, mine always comes out nicely browned because of the olive oil.

    I do my chicken in a similar way. I tried the air fryer, it worked well, but I prefer the convection setting on my oven.
    I drizzle the chicken with melted butter before baking.

    Instead of Panko, I use the Costco bought “ Focaccia Crouton” . Ground them in Vitamix. Because they are seasoned, the taste is good. Give it a try.

Tell Dude to get you your pepper grinder for Valentine's Day! I've had mind for over a year now and love it. I gave a set to a good friend who loves it and when her sister visited from Scotland, she loved it so much that my friend got her a set to take home with her.

    Hi guys, this is very similar to a recipe I make for my family very often. I bake skinless chicken thighs, breaded and seasoned with salt and garlic powder. I think your seasonings would make them even better. They are skinless and breaded, and lightly brushed with olive oil. Flip them halfway through roasting. Cool them on paper towels to remove any excess oil, so fairly low fat. Completely golden brown and yummy every time. Shake'n Bake is a very fond memory!

  • @RebuttalRecords
    @RebuttalRecords 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I gave this a shot, but with my own spice mixture and without using buttermilk. I soaked some chicken wings in cold water for a few minutes before dredging in my seasoned panko crumbs. Prior to dredging, I shredded the panko until it was half its volume in order to better coat the pieces. The panko sealed in the juices of the chicken quite nicely and it was very crispy and held the spices well. At first sight when coming out of the oven, it looked like the panko hadn't browned as much as bread crumbs would have, but it was still good nonetheless. This is probably because the panko I used contains vegetable shortening. Even though I baked the pieces on an elevated rack, a bit of sogginess set in on the bottom of the pieces, but that can be tough to overcome if your chicken pieces are from older birds that contain a lot of fat. I mainly use panko for deep-fried shrimp, but I think I'll have a go at making deep-fried panko chicken wings. For my spices, I used small measurements of thyme, summer savory, sage, black pepper, cayenne pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, poultry seasoning, salt, and MSG.

    I know this is a 4 year old video but some guy from ATK just made something similar, and I highly recommend you try it. The trick is you mix a little oil in your breadcrumbs and you toast them first for 4'ish minutes. Then you go back and cover your meat and bake it. Dare I say it's better than the original.
