Throttle body clean on your car (EASY!) Mercedes SLK 200 R170 1999

In this video I clean out the throttle body on this Mercedes Benz SLK 200 R170 from 1999. It hasn't been done in years and the engine is idling roughly, surging through the low RPM range. This should do the trick and steady it.

you need to remove the throttle body the 4 Allen bolts on the top of the throttle body and clean everything carb cleaner. there is a gauze under the throttle body that also need to be cleaned. (you only did half of the job !)

indeed, for a full clean, yes. I did that/do that in a different vid, having said that, I was quite surprised to see that I did get most of the gunk off it just going in from the top side and reaching around with the valve at 90deg of sorts. The mesh of course I couldn't touch like this, but that wasn't in too bad shape it turns out. Let's just call this the "very lazy" way.

Just take whole throttle body off, you never get the bottom clean with that style. :)

there is a throttle reset procedure using the ignition key switch and the throttle .

Behind the throttle butterfly is a gauze that could doo with cleaning and you can get to the walls of the carb where the butterfly is to remove all the gunk build up.
After that the idle will be a bit higher the engine ECU may eventually lower the idle speed or tou could do a throttle body reset procedure.
I have an earlier r170 with the bigger supercharger with its electric clutch. So throttle reset procedure might be a bit diffrent.

remove the throttle body and clean . there is a mesh under the throttle body that gets blocked

this is standard for this engine type, was only delivered in NL and a few other countries. No turbos.
