People aren’t really opposed to LV getting a baseball team. People are opposed to Las Vegas getting a whole ass ballpark where a casino used to be in some PRIME piece of real estate. Move it the fuck elsewhere. Move it behind Allegiant and connect them..
This company doesn't have the money to develop this site properly is what he is really saying. They don't have the money to develop the downtown Chicago casino they promised they would build, there is no way they have money for this also. They should sell the property and let a real operator do it.
If they have entries and exits from LV Blvd and/or Tropicana, then traffic is going to be a nightmare. It is already bad from late afternoons to around midnight.
They didn’t account for how they’re supposed to accommodate 80k people who are going to the stadium that aren’t staying on the strip or taking an Uber. Shouldve at least extended the monorail at least like they said they were going to instead of people walking over the Tropicana Ave bridge.
Why Don't they Share the Experience in California.!! The Tropicana should have Restored Updated Preserved and Enjoyed part of Las Vegas HISTORY !! Who the hell needs that UNWANTED STADIUM
They want the stadium in a location where they best rip you off from $20 beer to $100 Jerseys to slot machines all the while having the public pick up the tab for the stadium.
Buying a $20 beer, $100 jerseys, or putting money into a slot machine is a purely VOLUNTARY transaction just like buying an $80,000 pick up truck, a $450,000 starter home in Summerlin, or $500 concert tickets. You can just carry a plastic flask with your favorite adult beverage, buy your jersey online beforehand, and "just say no" to the slot machines.
The Raider fans come from LA where they wanted to be because that’s their fan base . The A’s have no fan base anywhere not in Las Vegas and not in LA . Las Vegas wants its own Vegas born team not another Oakland reject . The politicians who were given money to voted for SB1 illegally by simple majority should be thrown out of office . If they are going to come to Clark county then let A’s owner Fisher pay for it . Everyone knows after the shine of the new stadium wears off in 2 or 3 years nobody is going to go see a third rate AAA team run by a 4th rate owner ..
There wasn’t a requirement for the super majority because there is no impact on taxpayers that do not visit the stadium- this is why scams over stadiums will get laughed out of court for the 3rd time.
LV has A's fan groups on social media totaling nearly 4K members, which will grow as the time nears for the team to play here. There is almost no talk about an expansion team. SB1 is completely legal according the legislature legal staff, lawyers, and NV constitutional experts. It's the A's. The amount of ignorant misinformation spread on the web is unfortunate, especially by those who don't live in LV.
@@ProAthl The only misinformation is what you just spewed ..According to the Nevada state constitution a funding bill must pass by a 2/3 majority . SB1 only passed by a simple majority vote, 100% illegal .Not to mention ethics violations of politicians taking so called donations who voted for the bill . As far as the A’s fan group committee you are taking about, they are so incompetent just used the Atlanta Braves cap logo A instead of the Oakland A’s logo .Go shill for Sacramento where you belong .
I don’t like SB1 but there was nothing illegal about it because the public funding is bonds and not tax revenue. That being said, what the other responder doesn’t quite get (and I notice he has posted under several different usernames on these comments) is that a leopard doesn’t change its spots. I have seen over and over again the same situation play out. “We have a lousy stadium (and that is true, everyone knows the coliseum sucks) but if we only had a nicer ballpark we can actually afford to spend on a better ball club”. Here is the thing, when these owners get their shiny new toys, if they were cheap before the stadium was built, they remain cheap afterwards. We saw this in Miami with the Marlins, we see this in Minnesota with the Twins, we actually see this with the San Jose Quakes (also owned by Fisher), we see this with the Pirates in Pittsburgh, we have seen it with the Cardinals as well in Arizona. So yes….i do see the As continuing to staff a AAA roster even when the new ballpark opens. I don’t believe that Fisher will suddenly have a change of heart and start spending money just because he has a shiny new toy.

I bought a ticket to a Raiders game. Just to say I've been to an NFL game. I'm from Canada and visit Vegas regularly. I have absolutely no interest in paying money to watch baseball.
A few points here. One is that if the SE plot was what was originally going to be given to the As then the renderings are total garbage because they imply a stadium elsewhere on the land. Secondly, until it is decided which parcel of land the ballpark is going on, the architects cannot actually proceed with final designs and related items. I don’t know what this does with the timeframe assuming Fisher can fund this thing, but I don’t think it’s insurmountable. Lastly, it seems like Ballys needs to get their own house in order with what they want to do, otherwise the As nine acres could make it hard for Ballys to develop the rest of the site, and then this could get real ugly.
Tourists won't want to go into a stadium. They want a place to go in and out fast n spend little money. Too hard for locals to get there. So not feeling the vibe here. Resort, yes, stadium ?
@@togoandmoss Very true. While there are some locals who won't go to the Strip, many will, and of course those out of town "experts" who seem to know more than many of us locals.
I don’t buy that argument. Fans do travel for sports. I was on a flight to Las Vegas last year and the entire plane was filled with Chiefs fans going to see them play the Raiders at allegiant. A lot of NFL teams have fans that travel well and go to road games. The Golden Knights are unique because it’s an NHL team, that has been competitive for their entire time in the league. The As are different. First of all, baseball has been losing fans over past several years. Secondly, you are talking about 81 games vs 8 or 41. Are you going to get tourists to fill the stadium every game. I think not for a few reasons. One is that in the As own division, most of the teams have fan bases that don’t travel well from what I have seen. Secondly, only a few teams (Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees, Dodgers) have fan bases I could see traveling. Three, it gets very hot in Vegas during the summer, and I know the ballpark is indoors, but summer weather is one reason I hear that people don’t travel to Marlins games either. So can the ballpark be filled by tourists and locals? Possibly. Is it likely? I have my doubts. I suspect that if the ballpark hosts the National Finals Rodeo, it will outdraw most of the As games.
