After finding out this charger won't actually charge my G2 ic5, I bought the cable for the price of the charger since I had to pay shipping. After the first charge, the battery won't charge again because the charger needs an update.
But, I'm told by Horizon Hobby the battery is broken and to send it back. The next guy I speak with tells me the charger just needs an update.
So I go out and buy the update cable, because at this point I need to fix so I can sell, and the update does not work. Some guy was supposed to call me back, never did.
The first Horizon Hobby bot who told me to send the battery back, after two attempts, never sent me the requested warranty claim information.
This process has put my car out for weeks, it's cost me a lot of time and headache, cost me unnecessary money and - lesson learned. This ecosystem and the service you guys provide is atrocious. I'm being honest, I've never had a worse experience with any company OR ecosystem in my life. Absolutely pathetic.
You know what would be cool? Wireless capability to connect and download firmware so you don't have to wait around for weeks and weeks to buy a cable that really isn't smart since it needs to be plugged in and manually downloaded/updated. The cable is only $12, but why not include it when you buy any smart charger and just add it into the cost of the charger. Seems like not a current way to sell a product, again, that is smart. My cheap RC cars even come with USB chargers, as Horizon itself sells. Just some food for thought. Listen to your users! Still love the smart battery technology and hopefully you'll incorporate some of these changes in the future.
Amen! Dude, I’m furious right now. Just more time waiting around. Hey, make your products just work with your other products. That would be SMART. Hey, add the cable with purchase. That would be SMART. Hey, maybe even make it wireless. That would be… You get it. 😡
It would have been helpful to be able to update my charger with ANY computer with Internet. My household has Google Crome and Mac. I would hope that you guys can create another update link that can be used.
It would likely help if the link to the update downloads was in the summary.
I just updated the firmware on my S2100 AC charger to version .17
Other than still having the older buttons and scroll wheel, is the charger now exactly the same as the G2 S2100????? (Function wise)
So has there been a solution to the update program not connecting to the S1200 DC charger? I see there have been several comments but no solution. I tried the link to the xca drivers but no go.
Hello, I have the S2100 charger. My drivers keep failing to load, even when using the driver link in the PDF. Help...

Where do you buy a G2 firmware update cable?
would be nice if there would be even an update cable for the s2200, i get not connection to the device it saids, when i click on drivers, microsoft netframe stop installing cause i have a higher version of it installed and the device driver is successfull pre-installed in advanced, but i can't still update my s2200. anyway if i put my smart g2 s3 lipo on the charger, the charger don't know what it is i can't charge this lipos. how to fix any of this problems?
How do I show split screen on S2100 ? I can toggle back and forth from ch1 & 2 bit won't show split screen

Yes, if they are available it will be in the manuals page in the same place as the updates as a download
updated my battery on my xbc100 left over night and it said still updating... so i unplugged it now my battery cant be read by the xbc100 or my s2200.... what gives?
Hi, Spektrum. Just updated my Spektrum S2100 and I still cant find a way to change from Fahrenheit to Celcius in the settings. I was hoping to get this in the update. Is there a plan to include this in a future update or is it hidden somewhere in menu?

thank you for the review. Is the update cable the only way to update the s2100 smart charger? I would love to get the update installed. I just don't want to have to pay for a data link cable. Thanks

I just purchased and received my Spektrum S1200 does it need to be updated?
Is it the G2 version? If so no, if it is the older G1 version that runs on DC, then yes if you are going to be charging G2 batteries. Hope that helps!
I don't understand how you are powering on your charger by a battery? I have the s11000 and the only way it powers up is through the plug in the outlet.
I have the s120 charger and I cannot update it, it just says unable to locate device no matter what I try.

Is there any reason HH can't help those of us who are having issues with the updater link? I tried going through the website support and got someone who not only can not answer questions but has no knowledge of the product and the only help was to send me another update link cable even though it is CLEARLY not a hardware problem. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE? YOU AREN'T ANSWERING OUR QUESTIONS!!!
why can't it be updated with Mac now I can't get g2
I have the S2100. Ive bought the Update Cable and Downloaded the G2 update files from the website. Charger is powered on. Files from the Zip download, have been extracted. When running the application, it will not detect my charger. I've tried lunching it and connecting all kinds of way to get it detected.
I called horizon and customer service says there is a "New Update" in the works? Please advise, thanks.

Did you try the Alternative XCA100 - Driver link in the PDF? There are no additional updates in the works FYI, what is online is the latest version.

@@SpektrumRCvideos Good Afternoon. I downloaded that XCA-100 Driver and I was able to detect right away after launching the S2100 V1.1.0.7 Updater. I am now able to charge my new G2 Batteries on my S2100! Thank you.

Are you getting any control? Normally that means it is not getting signal, so I would check connectors and rebind and recalibrate AVC. We have a how to video on that process :) - th-cam.com/video/wmPatUav2hw/w-d-xo.html
@@SpektrumRCvideos i think i found the problem the receiver is not working it dont show any life no signal at all.
@@paparazzii952 Will it go into bind mode? Also make sure everything is plugged into the rx correctly. Polarity is key :)
@@SpektrumRCvideos no it still wont work i even put it on my arrma typhon jjust to make sure it was not my esc. but it still wont work i check around google and some ppl have the same problem i even uplload videos on my channel

Update did not work for my S2200 G2 charger. Tried the other drivers and still does not work. Updating Spektrum devices is a pain. Every product, radio, receivers, ESC, chargers all take a different cable different processes. It should not be this difficult and time consuming. The only software update that has went smoothly is the NX radios with WI-FI. But now after doing two updates in a month on my NX, I can’t access any screen that I used to access by rolling right on the roller. Monitor, telemetry, Avian access screen.
The S2200 uses a micro usb cable and in many cases those cables can be "power only" and may not support data transfer. My suggestion would be to try another USB cable. On your NX transmitter there is a setting in the telemetry menu that could have been changed that would cause that to happen. Go to telemetry > Settings > and adjust the display setting. Hope that helps!
Being a Mac user I have to be straight forward about my comment. When you say, "we recommend a windows based PC" it probably would have been a good idea to also mention you can not update the firmware with a Mac. Unless Spektrum plans on developing the firmware to be cross platform, you just lost a potential customer.
This worked on my S150, but my S1200 says "connect the device failed" no matter what I try.
Are you using the 2 different updater apps for each charger?

I installed the alternate drive but the app still doesn't connect. No app version.

s1200 1x200 watt. using the spmxca cable. Seems like windows recognizes the spmxca with the ch430 on comm 7. the computer doesn't see the charger and the charger doesn't see the pc.

☠BLACK BARON☠ I tested the software over a period of time of several months using a S2100. The charger shuts down during the charging procedure by using a Spektrum G2 battery on channel 1 and a Spektrum G1 battery on channel 2. It also happens that the charger is "rebooting" sometimes with the batteries G2 + G1 connected.

i need to charge a battery that's why I got the charger, so I don't have a battery for this update! not very helpful.
Not really that "smart" if you need to explain in a video how to update a charger!

I have 2 spektrum batteries that i haven't altered and my S155 keeps telling me that the battery polarity is incorrect and won't charge, even after the update, these weren't cheap batteries and they're less than a year old and now they're useless. Absolute garbage, i don't have any issues with my traxxas batteries or Chargers and they're the same age!
Wish someone would do the S2200. And Windows 11. Mine wont update or recognize "failed to connect".. Both S2100 using the Spektrum special cable and the USB for the S2200. I suspect Window 11 isn't approved yet. Anyone who has had success with Windows 11 please let me know.
